Level 171 is the 172st level of the Backrooms, and is highly dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.
Description
Level 171 is similar to level 0 in appearance, but with some minor differences. It still is infinite and like a maze, but there is a strange fog everywhere. This fog slowly puts people to sleep. Staying in it for about 10 minutes will result in unconsciousness. There are also some parts of the walls that have black goo all over them. It has similar properties to tar. The major difference is that the tar melts everything except the walls of the level.
This level is so dangerous because the tar is nearly everywhere, so if you prevent the fog from knocking you out, then the tar may get you. The tar also doesn't move, and stays in a puddle on the ground or on the wall. Any attempts to change it's position have failed. Vision is also heavily hindered because of the fog, and you can only see 6 feet in front of you.
This tar seems to increase in size. Recent checks on the tar show that it gets bigger really slowly. Eventually the tar may cover the entire level, and no one will be capable of entrance. The fog has not been changing though. Most deaths occur from either entity's or people not being able to see the tar from the fog and falling in it.
To survive in level 171, you must do 4 things:
- Where a gas mask to prevent falling asleep from the fog.
- Bring goggles to prevent accidentally falling into tar.
- Some way to know where you've been as to not get lost
- Ton's of weapons to prevent entity attack.
Entities
Bear
Bears commonly appear in level 171. They are the reason the level is called the "Bearooms". They large teddy bears, about 6 feet tall. They normally float above the ground rather than walking. They will wonder around, unhindered by fog or tar, and chase after every human they see. They will move 6 miles per hour, and if they succeed at touching a human, the human will slowly become poisoned by the bears skin contacting with theirs. The skin of a bear seems to be poisonous itself. The bear will then leave the poisoned corpse where it was until it rots. The bears are NOT the cause of the tar. The tar and the poison on the bears skin is completely different. Level 171 is absolutely infested with them. Sometimes, up to 10 bears will congregate together to hunt easier.
UPDATE: It has been recently discovered that bears melt when almond water is poured on them. Whoever poured the almond water will disappear, possibly entering another level. However, no one who melted the bears have come out anywhere yet. They are presumed to be in the void.
UPDATE AGAIN: These people come out in level 296, page TBA when exploration is complete.
Discovery
A man (Code name IRussell2021) was in level 85 when he chased a moth until he ended up in level 171. He soon escaped in less than 10 minutes (After being chased by bears) and without stepping in tar. He escaped by dropping almond water on tar and jumping into it, transporting him into level 342.
Colonies and outposts
Level 171 is too dangerous for colonies.
