Level 176 is the 177th level of the Backrooms.

Description

Level 176 is a large, luxurious hotel with an undetermined number of floors. It has everything one might expect from such a place in the Frontrooms, such as a swimming pool, a hot tub, a gym, a conference room, and even a cafeteria where continental breakfast is served. There are also vending machines and Almond Water fountains in the lobby. From the second floor upwards, there are many different kinds of hotel rooms, varying in size and overall quality. There is also a basement, but it is not known to contain anything unique or interesting beyond the Group that has made their home there.

The ground floor, basement, and second floor are all considered completely safe for Wanderers to stop and rest, so long as they are mindful of the Colonies and Outposts that have been established here. However, this changes as one ascends to higher floors; past the second floor, the hotel will become increasingly populated with hostile Entities, and the overall interior will appear more and more run-down and decrepit with each floor. These floors are said to contain valuable resources and items not commonly found in the Backrooms, but this is only a rumor. Venturing into these floors alone and inadequately armed is not recommended.

Outside, the hotel does not appear to have a true exterior. Looking out any window will reveal a bright, white void. One may exit the hotel and safely walk out into the void for a short distance, though it is not recommended to go very far. Occasionally, various cars driven by Facelings will pass by; it is unclear where they come from or where they are going. Very rarely, a Taxi will stop in front of the hotel entrance, also with a Faceling driver. Upon request, he will provide passengers with a one-way trip to any Level with an Urban or Suburban environment, such as Level 9 or Level 11.

It is also worth noting that the hotel itself does exhibit some anomalous properties. For instance, it seems entirely invulnerable to any kind of demolition. Even in the dilapidated upper floors, walls and floors cannot be destroyed, which can make escape from Entities difficult when cornered. Another confirmed anomaly can be found only on the ground floor of the hotel. Though it appears to be deserted and devoid of Entities, it is well-maintained, clean, and organized; even if one were to go in and displace all its furniture and leave a mess behind them, they will come back to find that the it has all been returned to its place and made to look as though nothing happened. Vending machines and the continental breakfast in the cafeteria are also confirmed to restock themselves when left unattended. It is unknown what, if anything, is responsible for these things.

Floors

This is a list of what can be found on all explored floors.

Entities

The entity count depends on what floor you're on. The ground floor, basement, and second floor contain no entities whatsoever aside from the Facelings that have been seen driving by in the white void outside. Above the second floor, more Facelings can be seen, along with the confirmed presence of Hounds, Smilers, Skin-Stealers, Scratchers, Stalkers, and Deathmoths. There are also reported sightings of other Entities, but these are unconfirmed. Although, it is theorized that every Entity in the Backrooms can be seen at some point as one goes to higher floors.

Colonies and Outposts

  • A minimum number of 15 members is maintained for this outpost, with a maximum of 20;
  • Does not take in survivors;
  • Stockpiles food, weapons, grenades, etc.
