Level 1863 consists of a seemingly infinite, non-linear network of underground car-park style buildings. However, every room of the system is completely devoid of any vehicles. A low hanging, thick mist of Almond Water fills the air in some areas, which can cause difficulty breathing, and will soak the clothes and skin of those who spend any extended period of time in these areas. Those who spend extended periods of time in the "Mist Rooms" (dubbed so by the Masked Men) have been documented to show extraordinary intuition, as well as enhanced perception and physical power. The structure of this Level appears to be made up of sturdy concrete, with small puddles of unknown liquids covering the ground in some places. The fluorescent strip lighting has been known to hum loudly in some areas, causing paranoia among entities and causing heightened aggression.
The room is particularly sought after due to it being a way to exit the Backrooms. There are exits Level 3999 accessible on Floor -1 of this Level, although they are sometimes blocked by unmovable metal vault doors. Whether or not these doors will be in place or not is completely unpredictable, and whether or not Level 3999 will be accessible is completely down to chance.
Colonies and Outposts
There is one main colony found within Level 1863.
Masked Men
Masks worn by Masked Men shown on a display.
The Masked Men are a group of friendly settlers found in many places across Level 1863. They appear as unnaturally tall human figures, with men often between 6'10" and 7'10", and women between 6'5" and 7'5" tall, but some have been known to grow over eight feet tall. The men in the group can be easily identified by their clothing: they wear long black pea-coats, covering a visible suit and tie, as well as face masks with an angry expression and black, wide-brimmed hats. The women also cover their faces with veils and face masks, but wear long, black dresses, often intricately designed and accessorized.
Despite their threatening appearances, the Masked Men are friendly, and will give advice and supplies when interacted with. They can supply food, artifacts such as Almond Water, and are open to trading for more valuable artifacts such as items from the Frontrooms and weapons to protect against Entities.
Men will never show their faces to dwellers or explorers outside of the Masked Men, but women have been known to befriend explorers and settlers and eventually reveal their faces.
Masked Men have been known to offer shelter and protection to explorers in return for membership of their clan, and the explorer giving up their life outside the Backrooms due to an oath sworn by members of the Masked Men to never attempt to leave. They will give their uniform and instruct travelers in the ways of life in their family.
Entities
There are a handful of Entities found within Level 1863.
Eyeless Children
Eyeless Children are Entities found only on Level 1863. They appear as human children, no older than around ten years old, but in place of regular eyeballs, their eyes are devoid of any color, and appear as black pits. They are easily identified by this feature. They do speak to one another, but have limited knowledge of languages from the Frontrooms (only appearing to know what Masked Men and explorers have taught them), and speak in mostly unknown and undocumented tongues.
They are passive, and will run in fear from most explorers or Masked Men. However, if an Eyeless Child is cornered or feel threatened, they will become excessively violent, using their hands and mouths to defend against an attacker. They are extremely strong, in contrast to their small and weak appearance.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
Level 1863 can be reached by approaching the Shopkeepers, found on Level 389, and asking them where to find "Free Parking". They will always lead you to a door into Level 1863.
Level 1863 can occasionally be reached by noclipping in Level 0. However, this is exceedingly rare, and has only ever been documented by one explorer.
Exits
As previously stated, in an area of this level called "Floor -1", rarely, large metal doors can open which will lead to Level 3999.
Some escalators and elevators in the level will lead to Level 389 (most commonly), Level 0 or Level 1 (more rarely).
