this is a work in progress.

General Description

Level 1950, or also known as "Grandma's House" is one of the many levels that make up the entirety of The Backrooms. It consists of a seemingly abandoned house with a yard and a backyard, all of which are surrounded by a seemingly never-ending graveyard. Level 1950 can easily put one off because of its looks and constant, but quiet, noises. Despite all of that, it is a relatively safe level as long as you stay within the house or the yards. While there are things outside of the house's yards, they are difficult to access, and are rather unexplored. This is because the walls that surround both the Main Yard and the Backyard are crowned with crystal chards, these may seem inoffensive, but they're covered with a green powder with acidic properties, which will result in very severe burns if contact is made.

The House

The ruined bathroom in Level 1950

The house itself has several rooms without any furniture, some of these rooms are: a ruined bathroom, several abandoned bedrooms, a destroyed kitchen, an attic, a big living room, etc. One may hear distant voices, laughs and sometimes even cries very faintly. Surprisingly, none of those noises have an effect on sanity. Another quality of the house is that items will appear in the rooms every day in Level 1950 (the days here last 12 hours) the amounts and quality of these items is inconsistent, therefore you could find a toilet paper sheet in the bathroom one day, and an entire stash of cleaning supplies the other. Note that only items that "match" the room will appear in that certain room. For example, you may find pillows, bed sheets, clothes, etc. in a bedroom and food in the kitchen. Also keep in mind that only the items that are moved by a traveler will remain after the 12 hour cycle is completed, so if you want to keep something make sure to grab it, and if not, avoid moving it as it will remain there.

The Yards

"The Yards" is the name used to refer to both the main yard and the backyard that exist in Level 1950

The Front Yard

  • The front yard is the most pleasant looking of both yards. It is filled with several different plants, such as: flowers, bushes, trees, etc. In every single visit made these plants have maintained their appearance. They look healthy and green, even though there isn't any sunlight or water in this level.

The Backyard

  • This is the second yard that one can find in Level 1950. Unlike the other yard, this one isn't as full of life. The floor is made of concrete. The Backyard can be accessed in three different ways. The first one is through the garage on the side of the house, if you walk towards the back you will find a gate that will take you to The Backyard. The other two are pretty much the same, you can walk through two different doors that can be opened from the inside of the house. One is nearby the laundry room and the ruined bathroom and the other is in the kitchen. The only plant that can be found in The Backyard is one single mango tree, in similar fashion to the plants in The Main Yard, it seems to remain the same no matter how much time passes. Other two points of interest are a small concrete dog house that usually has a cardboard that seems to have been used as a bed. The other is an old grill that explorers may climb on top of to be able to see The Outside, be careful as to not touch the glass shards though.

The Outside

The Outside, which is what can be found beyond the yards' walls, can be described as a seemingly never-ending graveyard. Hundreds upon hundreds of gravestones decorate The Outside, and they reach as far as the eye can see. It is strongly advised to not venture beyond the yards, not only because its risky to climb over the glass shards, but also because in The Outside the Gravelurker can be found.

Entities

  • The Gravelurker: The Gravelurker is the only creature known to roam Level 1950. It seems to be a unique creature that lives exclusively in The Outside of Level 1950. It never goes inside of the yards and doesn't usually come close to them either, that is only under normal circumstances. When performing the steps to exit level 1950 with the porcelain vase, the Gravelurker will enter the yards.

A traveler's diary has been recently recovered with useful information on the Gravelurker.

  • The Grandma: The Grandma is a peaceful entity known to only appear within the house itself. However, she does not always appear but when she does, she'll request you to do a small chore for her like put away her books or sweep the floor in one specific room. While these requests are optional, if you do what she asks there's a small chance she'll tell you a story. Some of the stories she tells even revolve around the Gravelurker and how the Gravelurker use to be the Grandma's husband, who used to be a graveyard keeper that had his spirit corrupted. Sometimes, if you manage to do everything she asks, she might summon the Gravelurker and ask him to open the porcelain vase in the basement which will give you the chance to escape.

Characteristics

  • Level 1950 is one of the safer levels in The Backrooms as long as you stay within the yard's walls.
  • The Gravelurker roams this level exclusively.
  • Partygoers once inhabited the level, but have recently disappeared completely, some people think that the Gravelurker caused this.
  • Aging is suspended entirely in this level, and it is not required to eat any food or drink water. Consuming anything may actually prove to be harmful, since body functions enter a sort of "hibernation" state in level 1950.
  • You cannot encounter any other humans in level 1950. You will be the only person there during your stay. (Note that several people can be in one of level 1950's instances at the same time, but never in the same instance. This means that there is theoretically an infinite amount of houses like the one described above, but no way to travel between these instances has been found)

Ways to get into Level 1950

There are three ways to access level 1950. The first is by finding a specific door in Level -1, this door is a brown wooden door with an iron bar going across it, as a means of keeping it closed. A small metal hook-shaped piece can be removed to unlock the iron bar. Additionally, when sleeping in Level 0 or Level Fun while holding any item made out of porcelain will have you wake up in one of level 1950's bedrooms. Rarely, falling asleep in Level 1 may lead one to one of the bedrooms in Level 1950. If you enter a house on Level -102 numbered “Level 1950” will bring you here.

Ways to get out of Level 1950

The first method of getting out of this level is by accessing the old basement of the house. In order to enter the basement you need to get past the sealed concrete trapdoor. It can be tricky to get through the trapdoor since it is very difficult to get any proper tools in level 1950 . The only ways to acces tools are by getting lucky with the item spawns around the house or by somehow bringing them from outside the level, which is difficult because the only way to do so is by finding the previously mentioned door in level -1. The rest of the access methods will spawn you in the level and you will leave all of your items behind. Once inside one will be able to find a large porcelain vase (about 1.2 meters in height and 50 centimeters in width) decorated with dragon figures and several symbols, giving the vase a refined look. In order to use it to exit the level, the vase's lid must be removed. The catch is that only the Gravelurker can open it.
