Resonance

Level 200, otherwise known as Resonance, takes the appearance of a large collection of canyons, spanning a large area, estimated to be millions of square kilometres big. These canyons are typically more than a kilometre deep, but heights may vary depending on the area. The air is cool and damp constantly, even in the day. This level has a typical day-night cycle of 24 hours, identical to that of The Frontrooms. Though the sun is bright, the average temperature is only 20 degrees Celsius in the day, and drops to 10 degrees Celsius at night.

The canyons are composed of a mix of granite, limestone and sandstone, causing them to be relatively brittle and giving them a reddish-brown hue. The walls of the canyons are generally smooth in most areas, and have an irregular shape as if eroded by years of water flowing through, similar to the formation of canyons in The Frontrooms. Due to the brittle nature of the rock, some pieces may break off and fall to the ground, potentially causing harm to those under it. However, they do not create any sound when impacting onto the ground as the bottom of the canyons seem to possess silencing properties, where footsteps and anything which falls onto the ground does not create noise.

An anomalous property of the canyons is that sound energy which hits the walls do not convert to different forms of energy, and instead have 100% energy efficiency. This causes sustained echoes, and are able to be heard in many areas due to the fact the sound is barely diminished. The only way sound may be diminished is by escaping the canyons from the top, dispersing into the sky above. Due to this, many people may experience headaches if a large wave of sound were to pass by their location, potentially causing their ear drums to rupture is the sound is loud enough. Due to this, wanderers are encouraged to wear earmuffs when traversing the level.

Stairways can be found in random locations along the floors of the canyons, giving wanderers easy access to the top. These stairs appear and disappear randomly, causing some sections of the level to be devoid of stairs while others have stairs at every turn of a corner. At night, the sky is dotted with a plethora of stars, with a spiral galaxy's band also visible in the sky. Due to this, it is a popular destination for many to view and observe the beauty of nature, due to the minimal risks present and the absence of entities.

The Canyon Tops[]

The canyon tops are a vastly different environment from within the canyons, as here sounds are not echoes, and instead are heard normally. Although sounds aren't diminished within the canyons, they may mix with other sounds or voices and come out as an unintelligible mess, though when emerging they always sound ethereal in nature, as though the voices have a mind of their own and are calling for something beyond our reach. One wanderer has even reported witnessing a barely visible humanoid shape rising from a crevice, reaching up towards the sky before dissipating into the air. It is thought that this is the manifestation of sound waves from various sources coalescing into a shape, though this theory has not been confirmed.

The canyon tops are extremely flat, providing enough room for a group of people to sit down on. All these factors coupled with the cool breeze blowing through consistently makes this level a popular place for those wishing to catch a break or to just enjoy themselves. Additionally, several of these canyon tops have bodies of water on them, which has been tested and approved for human consumption. These water bodies vary in size, and will automatically fill themselves back up at midnight, though how this happens in unknown.

Lastly, it is an unspoken rule to never speak on the canyon tops, only in the canyons down below. It is unknown who started this tradition, or what purpose it serves, however it is best to follow this rule as those who frequent this place follow it strictly and may even banish those that break the rule.

  • Stay here to enjoy the atmosphere and relax

  • Posted here to observe and study the auditory anomalies within the level

The Tinkerers[]

  • Consists of 5 people
  • Are currently working on creating shoes with the dirt to make stealth shoes
  • Only trade for shoes and aluminum metal

Entrances and Exits[]

Entrances[]

  • Wanderer's may enter from any desert level, by no-clipping into the sand.
  • Staring at a skylight for 4 minutes sends one here from Level 464.
  • On Level 503, the train may occasionally stop at "The Echo Canyon". Alight there and wanderers will reach this level.

Exits[]

  • No-clipping into a body of water will send wanderers to Level 7.
  • At times, wanderers may find a crevice in the canyon walls. Entering one will send them to Level 111.
  • Though dangerous and unadvised, falling from a canyon top down to the bottom will give wanderers enough momentum to travel to Level 399. However, the chance of this happening is rare.
  • No-clipping into the ground will send wanderers to Level 0.
  • Blinding oneself with light leads to Level 169.
  • Trying to carve anything into the canyon walls will lead to Level 200.8.
Remember, dear wanderer, to tread lightly. every sound made, every word uttered, will be on display for everyone to hear. What's worse is what it will become when merged with other sounds, what it calls for if it escapes. This level traps sound for a reason, for if the one in the sky is ever able to hear any discernible word from the deep canyons, which has brought joy to many, it will cease to exist. So listen carefully, wanderer.
