Back in the day, the city was home to the dark lords and us, no one else interrupted and it was a quiet place. Oh, but that's over, now there are only ruins of the battle, ruins of what was once the great city. Oh, poor dark lords.

Level 2250 is the 2251st level of the Backrooms.

Description

A building on Level 2250.

Level 2250 consists of an endless city of 20th-century appearance. The sky is cloudy and a normal day and night cycle. Many buildings are damaged and sometimes destroyed, although you can find buildings in an old, almost abandoned state. Level 2250 has streets, squares, buildings of all uses (although they are almost always taken over by entities), and restaurants.

Entities at Level 2250 abound everywhere, even inside buildings. Although the entities are few, consisting only of Lightlurkers, Their Retainers, and Smilers, are infested by the level. One of the most abundant entities in the place are the Lighturkers at the level being their place of birth, or their taken place (It is not known if the level appeared with the Lightlurkers, if the level created the Lightlurkers or if the Lightlurkers found the level and took it as their base.), the least abundant entity are the Smilers are found inside buildings and alleys. Their Retainers are usually found inside buildings performing rituals or writing.

Level 2250 has an anomaly present called "Dark Influence", which will be explained later, but it is the reason why Their Retainers exist as well as Smilers. At this level, it is too difficult, almost impossible to find a place without entities or few entities, since this place is the "refuge" and home of all the entities mentioned above. It is said that the level before everything was correct, however, after the battle between the Lightlurkers and other entities, the place was destroyed by enemy entities to the Lightlurkers and their team.

Entities

Colonies and Outposts

Due to the infestation of entities, colonies and outposts cannot be established. There was one, but it was later destroyed by the entities of the level. This outpost was called "El Refugio", and helped wanderers get through the level. These people had to be as self-confident as they tried to survive at this level. But the inevitable happened, the outpost was destroyed by the entities and the members are considered dead.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • Noclipping on a 20th Century painting in Level 2052 will take you to this level.
  • Entering an abandoned house with the number "2250" on Level 11 will take you to this level.
  • Entering "Battle Breaks" on some levels will take you to this level.
  • Lightlurkers and Their Retainers can return to the level whenever they want.

Exits

  • By falling asleep you have a chance to be teleported to another level. So far, the levels to which it takes you are Level 3086, Level 1283, Level 1970, Level 2020, Level 840, and Level 1415.
  • Entering a garden surrounded by severed tentacles, probably Lightlurkers will take you to Level 1800.
  • It is rumored that a wanderer managed to go to another level by killing a Their Retainer and putting on his cloak.
  • Entering "Battle Breaks" in this level will take you to the previous level you were in before entering this one.
  • Lightlurkers and Their Retainers can exit the level whenever they want.

Battle Breaks

Description

By Battle Breaks we mean cracks or gaps left in the "Battle of Overvinne", the battle of the entities against the Lightlurkers. Since the battle occurred on different levels, many of these Battle Breaks were formed in the middle of the fights, although the Battle Breaks were not known until some time after the battle. Something used in the battles caused the creation of the Battle Breaks, although it is not known how it is caused, some theories try to solve the cause of why these levels were created. Among these theories, one of the most believed is:

  • The Battle Breaks were formed by breaking an invisible barrier connecting each level of the Backrooms. One of these barriers connecting Level 2250 to other levels had been destroyed on some levels.

Battle Breaks are cracks or gaps that are in some levels where the entities fought against the Lightlurkers in battle. Battle Breaks look like normal cracks or gaps, although the ambiance of Level 2250 can be heard inside them. When you go through a Battle Break, you will appear on Level 2250, anywhere, and the crack or hole you entered will disappear, although there are other Battle Breaks in the level.

  • A rumor says that people can end up in the void in Battle Breaks, as well as Lightlurkers or Their Retainers when they leave the level because when you travel from one level to another in Battle Breaks, it is very similar to noclipping.

Dark Influence

Description

Dark Influence is an anomaly present at Level 2250 and only at that level. The Dark Influence transforms entities into other more corrupted entities, as was the case with Their Retainers and the Smilers. However, Dark Influence will not quickly transform you into another entity, but rather slowly. Dark Influence causes sanity decay, and health decay and can cause you to see hallucinations.

These effects can be avoided by drinking Almond Water and its variants as well as entertaining yourself with other things to avoid the Dark Influence. However, if you have been with Dark Influence for a long time you will be transformed into another entity, and if you are with companions, whether or not your companions have Dark Influence they will also be corrupted, as well as the entities that are around the person.

The "Their Retainers" Case

Their Retainers were once humans who are said to be from some time before Christ. These humans are considered the first wanderers of the Backrooms. To their misfortune, these humans were kidnapped by the Lightlurkers and taken to Level 2250. These humans spent a long time on the level and then became Their Retainers. If the Lightlurkers had not killed these humans, the Their Retainers would not have existed.

The "Smilers" Case

It is said that a group of entities inadvertently went to Level 2250, and that was the last time they saw each other. The entities were frowned upon by the entities of Level 2250 because these entities had entered the territory of what at that time were the dominant entities. After a while, these entities passed from being those entities to the Smilers.

It is not known which entity became the Smilers, and no entity has any relation to the Smilers other than the Frowners and Lurkers, but the Frowners and Lurkers appeared much later. Then the group The Lost got to know the entities, and then it was some time before the Smilers were "found" in 2009.

Battle of Overvinne

The Battle of Overnine was a battle of the entities of that time against the Lightlurkers, Their Retainers, and Smilers. The battle began due to the entities no longer wanting to be under the control of the Lightlurkers. One day, while the groups we know today were only recently forming, the battle began. The battle took place in some levels of the Backrooms, which also caused the creation of the Battle Breaks.

After a few days, the group of entities against the Lightlurkers was victorious with the near extinction of the Lightlurkers. However, thanks to Their Retainers, the Lightlurkers could continue to exist, but also thanks to a kind of pillars that are on the level (The function of these pillars is to continue creating lightlurkers. So far there are only three pillars left and they are almost impossible to find before there were more, but they were destroyed in the battle). From that day on, the Lightlurkers began to hate every existing entity except Their Retainers and Smilers.

They had a bright future ahead of them, why did this happen to them? To us?
