Level 246 - "Infinite (and randomized) hallways"

Class: Mesaío

"Mesaío class are levels that are a bit unsafe for exploration, has medium/low entity count and can contain something that makes this level slightly unsafe for exploration, it can be a entity or a property, or something else that would make this level slightly unsafe for exploration or even something that would affect sanity slightly. Levels with this class can also have low entity count and have a high amount of resources, but beware, not everything is safe around the backrooms."

Level 246 is the 247th level of the backrooms. It was first discovered in 1870 by 5 wanderers who were stuck on Level 3. Nowadays 2 of these wanderers work for the M.E.G but 2 are living inside Level 246. 1 sadly had to be neutralized in 1999 after consuming Death Water.

Description

Level 246 resembles an infinite hotel hallway. It was very small when it was first discovered but in 2021 it's the fifth largest level of the backrooms.

In this level, you start inside some sort of huge hotel lobby. A lot of wanderers use this place for trading and gathering resources before venturing deep into Level 246. There is 5 vending machines, where you can get almond water stored into soda cans. There's "BCKR-ENERGY" written in the cans even though the product inside has nothing to do with energy drinks.

There's also a "employee's only" door behind the reception (there's a reception, for some reason, but wanderers only sit on the reception chair for relaxing purposes), but nobody knows what's inside, since everytime someone touches the door, the lights go out, and a distorted trumpet noise can be heard troughout the entire lobby, and when the light goes back on, the wanderer disappears and re-appears in Level 6, therefore this is not reccomended.

UPDATE ON THE DOOR SITUATION: Someone somehow managed to get trough the door, and they ended up in a yet unknown location. Communications attempts are being made at the moment.

To exit the lobby, go into the door at the end of the room, then you will find yourself in a hotel hallway, and the door will disappear behind you.

The Hallways

The Hallways are the largest part of this level. It resembles a long hotel hallway that goes straight only, with dark red walls and sometimes pictures on the walls, tiny round desks with flower pots and a lot of doors. It's size is expected to be, sorry for the words, 5 billion fucking square miles. The hallway's width is almost the same as the Level 2's tunnels, but not that small.

It's impossible to find a wanderer or come into contact with one inside the hallways. If you see a wanderer, it's not real. You can also, sometimes, hear sounds, like knocks in the walls, buzzing and a weird, echoed, muffled chant followed by drums.

Doors are separated 20 meters away from each other, each one with a number on the front.

In the hallways, chances of spotting an entity are low, but never 0. Sometimes hounds can be seen bursting out of big pictures, skin-stealers spotted far down the hallways, and smilers when the lights go out.

Hallucinations can also occur here, like seeing the hallways turn left or right or even crossroads, shadowy figures that come walking fast down the hallways until they reach you, lights going very bright then turning back to normal immediately and a strange one which is a lemon inside a cup of water.

Lights can go off every once in a while, why this happens is unknown. This is the only way you can possibly find a smiler in the hallways.

Now to the most interesting part of this level, every door in the hallways goes to a room, all of them can be simply exited trough the door you came from, but sometimes it will be hard to do it. However there's no way you can be completely trapped inside a room.

The Rooms

The rooms can be accessed from the doors in the hallways. Every room is different and even rooms that look the same gotta have something different, for example, a towel changing colors, almond water being replaced with Cashew Water, almost the same thing but a certain entity appears when you do x, etc.

The default room resembles a common 4-Star hotel room. It has a white bed with a white blanket, a shelf with a LED TV in front of the bed, a small fridge, windows (in some rooms they emmit sunlight, show that it's night time, shows a city in the distance or can even be a window entity), white curtains, has a bathroom with a bathtub, sink and mirror, and a kitchen. Sometimes rooms are completely different compared to the default room.

Possibilities are infinite, if you tought of a room right now, it probably exists within Level 246. The rooms are also a great source for food and Almond Water.

Colonies & Outposts

There's only a colony forming in the lobby, called "The Chads", which is, for now, 5 adults from different countries, india, america, argentina brazil and united kingdom, who are very interested in bodybuilding. They can be friendly but are very annoying when they're discussing about "what is the most efficient protein shake".

Entrances & Exits

Entrances

In Level 5, finding a very long hallway and reaching the end of it, which will have a door, will lead you to Level 246.

Thinking of infinite possibilities in Level 18 and having a "creativity trip" will get you here.

Sometimes Level 148's houses hallways can stretch, which is a generation glitch. However, if you go trough the end of it and open the door, the backrooms will think you used the Level 5 entrance, then instead of going to a room, you will fall trough the floor and end up in Level 246's lobby.

Exits

opening the file named "=)" on the computer in room 19 will lead to Level fun =)

There's a hidden sixth vending machine that doesn't work. It has a door handle in it, pulling it will make the vending machine open like a door and reveal a staircase. Going down the staircase will lead you to Level 4.

For some reason, if you say "oh no" when you hear knocks in the hallways, you will be sent to Level 954.

The List of rooms

Here is a list of (almost) all the rooms. You can help expand it by going into different rooms and documenting them. Be careful as it's a dangerous task to do so.

The danger of a room is classified by numbers

Classes

0 - Completely Safe, no entities (N/E)

1 - Safe, N/E or minimal entity count

2 - Less Safer, N/E or low entity count

3 - Unsafe, N/E or medium entity count

4 - Danger, High Entity count, maybe no entities too.

5 - Life/Sanity risk, Entity infestation or N/E

6 - Class 6 has no description.

The List:

Room 1

Class 0

Room 1 is the so called "Default Room".

Room 2

Class 0

Room 2 is the same as the default room, but the TV is replaced with a old TV. It has only 1 channel which is one that makes distorted muffled screaming while a weird eye symbol appears on screen. Wanderers often attempt to decode the sounds, however it looks like it has no translation, just noise.

Room 2's fridge is blue, instead of white.

Room 3

Class 1

Same as Room 1, but you get a feeling something is watching you from afar - and there is indeed something watching you from afar, by looking at the window you will see an owl in the size of a fridge, in the distance, on top of a tree. It disappears and re-appears everytime you blink. Class is 1 since it can affect sanity slightly.

Room 4

Class 3

Default room, altough if you try to open the fridge, a figure that looks like a business man will appear out of thin air behind you, and shoot you 3 times on your legs. This room has a rusty ceiling fan in the ceiling of the bedrooms. Trying to sleep will trigger an event where incoherent whispering can be heard coming from the fan, then it will start spinning, and fall on you, leading to instant death. You can find chips lying on the shelf.

This is the first dangerous room of this level.

Room 5

Class 1

It's default room but with no windows or furniture, the floor is all wet carpet and the walls are the Level 0 wallpaper. There's loud buzzing too. In less words, Level 0 in a nutshell.

Breaking the walls will lead you to the real Level 0.

Room 6

Class 2

This one is a 1 star hotel room, and it's very different from the default room. The design is different, the locations, etc. For some reason there's an radio inside the toilet, and the fridge has an cake which wanderers described to be the best cake they've eaten in their entire life. It restocks every 5 minutes. The bed smells like urine, and sometimes a cigarrette in the floor will randomly be lit and start emmiting smoke, inhaling it will cause difficult in breathing for 5 seconds.

The windows show night time, and you can hear waterfall sounds from it for some reason. Ocasionally the radio inside the toilet will start playing random music. It has a:

  • 50% Chance of playing "Cabinet Man" by Lemon Demon;
  • 5% Chance of playing a very calm, lo-fi style music;
  • 78.5% of playing national anthems from other countries;
  • 7% Chance of playing random pop music;
  • 0.01% Chance of playing a morse code, that translates to "Beware of the man with long legs that always lurks the hallways" altough nobody has ever seen an entity like this while they ventured trough the hallways;
  • 32% Chance of playing clown music;
  • 1.1% Chance of playing a music that looks like a 80's era music, however all the songs seem to be from an alternate reality since none could be identified, except for one which is "Killer Queen" sung by David Bowie.

Room 7

Class 3

This room is a square room, very different from the default room, with a table with a cake in the middle, and balloons floating around the room. Do not interact with nothing, touching anything here will immediately get you to Level Fun. However, it's completely safe there. It is very reccomendable to touch one of the party accessories, because everybody needs to relax and party sometime, and eat too, man you're probably hungry after going trough that Level 0 shit! Come in fellow modern wanderers! We're swag and cool like you. =)

Sometimes, you can find only a broom lying in the corner instead of the Level Fun stuff. It is theorized that the room was supposed to be only a white room with a broom in the corner, but party accessories are added due to a Party-Goer manipulating the room. However, it's a very unlikely theory.

note from @the partygoer: we love this room! the best room! touch all the party stuff and come to our fun room to have fun! =)

Room 8

Class 0

Room 8 is just the default room, but the window is completely blacked out, and somehow still emmit sunlight trough the room. And the sink dispenses almond water infinitely, which is a nice source of almond water in this level.

There's also canned beans inside the fridge.

Room 9

Class 2

Default room, but it has been completely taken over by plants. The windows show an abandoned city, also taken over by plants. The species are randomized everytime you enter the room. For example, if you see a rose, leaving and entering the room again can make it become another species of plant, like a sunflower, or a vine.

An entity can be found in this room, which are the pigeons. They can be seem wandering trough all the room locations, searching for food.

Room 10

Class 0

It's default room, except the room locations loop, like the kitchen has a door that leads to another bedroom, the bedroom has another door that goes to the kitchen and etc. All locations are expected to loop at least 50 times.

Room 11

Class 5

Room 11 is one of the most dangerous rooms of Level 246.

Upon entering this room, the door will close behind you, and lock it from the outside, and you'll find yourself in a room with a computer in the middle, where you will have to beat a replica of The Game Master this level created(http://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/entity-99 (credits to 1000dumplings ^^) in a online chess tournament, found on the computer, but similar to the actual games in her level, you will have to cheat to win, as the game master has, obviously, rigged it. Before you sit down on the desk, you must find a cheat code, on a piece of paper, often found behind paintings in the room, under the extremely luxurious bed (its a shame that laying down on the bed will teleport you to the eater, for some unknown reasons) or in some other obvious spot. sitting down on the chair next to the desk, will trigger the computer to turn on, and you wont be able to get up, so you must have the piece of paper with the four diget code, or you will most likely fail the chess, and will be locked in the room forever, until a entity breaks in and kills you you need the code so you can go into the game program (minimize the chess game, and open the file chessgame.exe and insert the code on the top line of code. But, be aware that the game master will know you are cheating, if you're off the game for a lot of time, probably 30 seconds. If you want to enter this room, make sure you're a fast typer.

inserting the code, and going back to the game quickly will lead to you having infinite time to make your moves, and the game master wont do anything about it, because as soon as you win, (by cheating) you will have 10 seconds to jump up from the chair, and run out of the room.

Even though entering this room is dangerous and optional, it is very rewarding. Upon leaving, you are guaranteed to get a random bladed weapon and bar of twin fingers, sometimes you can even get a flashlight, or a Level Key.

Room 12

Class 0

This room is basically a flat world, where the ground is just sand. You can wander 100 kilometers until you reach some sort of invisible wall.

There is a single cactus in the middle of the room, for some reason you can walk trough it, like it has no collision, some sort of hologram. Ocasionally, a vulture will come from the skies, land on the floor and keep staring you no matter where you go, then will fly again after 30 seconds. It is unknown why does this room has these properties, but it is known none of them can harm you, the only thing that can cause some sort of harm is the room's temperature.

If you dig the sand you can, rarely, find old rusty car parts. If you try to toss them into the distance, they will reappear in your hand. If you toss them and go trough the room's door and leave, you will get a key instead, why this happens is also unknown. Most likely, it can unlock a locked room in the hallways.

Room 13

Class 0

This is the default room, but upside down. There isn't much to describe here.

maybe you didn't investigate it properly, m.e.g dumbass. take a closer look at the bathroom

Room 14

Class 6

This room is just an empty void you can float on, you can somehow breath, too. No sound can be heard. That's pretty much it.

It's a reccomendable place for relaxing. Recomendable to put on a sleep mask and take a good dive, you can sleep here as nothing can harm you. When you wake up you will feel like your sanity can handle a mixture of Level 9 and Level 6 at the same time, you'll be absolutely restored.

Room 15

Class 3

This room is the same as the default room, but it's all underwater. When you open the door, the water won't escape. Some small objects here are sometimes on the ceiling since some can't sink, so it's easier to find items. You can't breathe underwater in this room, so you can drown and die. It's reccomended to stay close to the exit.

Very rarely, an unidentified entity will grab your feet, and will only release you when you're close to drowning. The chances on it happen increase the longer you stay in the room.

Room 16

Class LOCKED

This room is locked, and you cannot use the Room 12 key on it. 1950's ballroom music can be heard from the other side of the door if you put your ear against it.

Room 17

Class 2

This room resembles an alleyway. It stretches for 560 meters, and has posters advertising non-existant products on the walls.

Opening a trash can will cause the alleyway to go completely dark, and distorted screaming will slowly get closer. It is unknown what happens next since all wanderers who experienced this managed to go trough the door they came from.

This room has a weird rat-like entity that walks like it's lagging, like going some centimeters back while trying to walk and teleporting forward.

Room 18

Class 4

This room can be considered dangerous. This is the second level to be more difficult to escape.

Upon opening the door, you should notice a tall figure in the distance, if you look at the windows, apparently walking in the air. You don't know what it is, because its like a silhouette, until when its about 10 meters away from you, you will notice its a stalker, but by then, its to late to escape if within 20 seconds you don't leave the room, the doors lock behind you, but if your quick, you can run in, and grab a knife off the ground, but the distance this knife is from the door varies. and its not worth the risk. The stalker will not morph itself into your loved ones, tough.

A Wanderer claimed that, if you enter the level and wave at the window, the entity will stop walking, wave back and leave. Then, you will pass out and wake up in Level 11 with a note on your hand written "Sometimes, Being friendly could be the perfect answer". But if you wave just to take advantage of this instead of being "truly friendly", you will wake up in Level 6 with a note written "But keep in mind you have to be true with your emotions". It is a mistery if the cause of this event is an entity or the level itself.

Room 19

Class 1

This room resembles a gaming room, or Lan House. The layout is just like the game master room, except with gaming computer and LED lights all around the room

Since the backrooms can only try to replicate some things from the human conscious instead of the actual stuff, the games are completely unique, and some resemble real games. Here is the list of games you can find.

Mine Deeper

This game resembles Mine Sweeper, but the title somehow has nothing to do with the game. In this game you have to cross a mine field and reach an Cheesebacon at the other side of the field, for some reason. And the bombs and explosions are all replaced with a strange image of an entity looking from a house's windows, this picture is theorized to be taken from Level 9.

Hound-Escape 2

This is a pixelated 2D platform-run game where a giant hound chases you, a pixelated character that takes your appearence, while you run forward and avoid obstacles. To win, you have to reach an fire exit door at the end. Hound-Escape 1 doesn't exist, for some reason.

This game has an easter egg that if you press up up down down left right left right B + A while the winning animation plays (an animation where the character does a little dance before entering the exit door), the game crashes and a Hound plushie appears out of thin air on your hands. This plushie makes a high-pitched growling sound when you press it.

Friday Night Wanderin'

This game highly resembles the game Friday Night Funkin', but every character is replaced with entities, all of them drawn with the game's art style. The characters sing their songs normally, but the voices are replaced by the respective entity's voice (for example, Skin-Stealer, the dad, sings with an growl sound instead of the dad character's voice).

The main character will always take the appearance of the person playing.

Watching.

This is a 3D first-person game with high quality graphics. In this game, you are in Level 9, and you have to exit to win. The game has a mechanic where the neighborhood watch runs trough the level occasionally, and you have to hide to avoid being caught. It also has a hunger, insanity and thirst system. Wanderers named it "Level 9 simulator" as a joke, but the game's original name is Watching.

The only dangerous thing inside this level, is that there is a hidden file on the computer that should avoid being opened, at all times. The file is called "=).exe".

The file teleports you into a certain level, but we cant explain in detail, all information gets censored everytime we try. You probably know it already, a very "fun" level.

Room 20

Class: 1

This room is a empty room, and there is only one of them in the entire level, Something... tought it would be funny to clear everything out of the room, and if a traveler comes in, he will recite the "LEVEL OH GOD OH F###" joke level. Remember, you cannot see or enter in contact with wanderers in this level. Whatever that entity is, it has developed some sort of "sense of humor". It's a funny and interesting level, however, staying in here to long will lead to you being teleported to Jerry's room, maybe 30-40 minutes. This leads to wanderers to theorize this entity uses his humor to make people stay in the level, and then being teleported.

Room 21

Class: 0?

Upon entrance, you will see a kid. If you ask a math question to him, specifically "what's 9 + 10" he will always answer "21".

Just kidding, this level resembles an entire mall, but instead of being infinite, it is normal sized. Sometimes, things can be unstable, such as stuff noclipping to each other. This level also has a lot of resources like clothing, food, almond water. The exact safety of this level is unknown, as sometimes a very tall shadowy figure with really long legs has been spotted walking on the ceiling and noclipping trough it. It has been confirmed, a M.E.G operator who explored the level also took a photo of it. It is unknown if the entity can cause harm to wanderers.

Going into a shop without a name will transport you to Level 72.
