Description

2508 Interior.jpg

Level 2508 is a level resembling a colossal spacecraft, with multiple hallways and windows looking outside. A single planet is outside the ship, although there are no known means of traveling there. The planet has been theorized to be 2508.1.

Notable Locations

Medical Bay

The Medical Bay on 2508 is a location encompassing numerous laboratories, office spaces, storage spaces, and centers for medical diagnosis and treatment. Cadavers are commonly found here.

Engine room

The Engine room is a large area that contains the ship's immense engine room and auxiliary generators. Most of the walls are damaged, often with pipes, conduits, and exposed circuitry on the walls.

Entities

"The Beast"

Possible image of the entity. Person who took this photo presumed dead.

The Beast is an entity stalking the halls of the spacecraft. It appears as having long, bony blades for hands, and needle-sharp teeth. It is able to rapidly regenerate limbs. Although resembling the more common Doxasménos, The Beast is much more aggressive, crashing through walls to reach single targets. Some claim that the Beast has managed to survive explosions that would've incinerated normal humans in seconds. The validity of these claims is unknown. The weakest point of its body is a giant yellow eye in its chest, although it is hard to reach. Other than that, the Beast has no other known weaknesses.

Cadavers

Cadavers are hostile entities. They appear have many self-inflicted wounds on their bodies, and jaws which can unhinge. They will almost always attempt to disguise as other dead bodies. Infection is a problem in this level, due to the contagion which the Cadavers possess. Infected humans will undergo a grotesque process, distorting their flesh and bone. This, in turn, will create Gashers. Beyond pack tactics these creatures have never been observed to directly interact with their environment, or even each other. They do not audibly talk to one another, but they do provide a range of vocalizations including grunts, growls, and moans. Cadavers are able to infect living tissue, regardless of if they are alive or not.

Gashers

Appearing as a human with long, sharp claws, Gashers are highly aggressive entities, in that they will attack any non-infected being on sight, regardless of species or age. They are highly resistant to physical harm, and not often affected by traditional weapons. They flee to places where they can use their abilities to draw out and subdue victims, and are fast and agile. Gashers eventually degrade into Cadavers, and the cycle eventually continues. Gashers are more powerful in groups, as they are not much of a threat on their own, and the greater numbers they can gather, the more powerful they become. The Gashers' long claws will be replaced with blades, in rare circumstances. If one of their arms are shot off, it will turn into a whip-like structure, capable of causing extreme damage. Gashers, despite their animalistic behavior, are still capable of using traditional weapons, such as crowbars or knives.

Bruisers

Bruiser.jpg

Bruisers suffer from a unique form of hypertrophy, though they are incredibly fast and agile despite their immense muscle mass. Their movements resemble those of gorillas, using their massive arms to overpower and smash their opponent into the ground. Bruisers generally rely on brute force rather than their speed or agility. Bruisers are often used as meat shields by other Infected, due to having exceptional resistance to bullets and wounds, even more so than Gashers. The forearms and head of the Bruisers are heavily armored and are difficult to dismember. Bruisers notably have poor eyesight, making it easier to hide from them. Older Bruisers will usually have tusks, or be missing limbs, sometimes both. Bruisers are very rare, though one should still prepare themselves for a possible encounter.

Carrier

Carriers are variations of Cadavers, their bulbous body due to accelerated production of internal decomposition gasses, leaves the Infected bloated to near bursting point. Unlike Gashers and Cadavers, Carriers prefer to rush their victims rather than using stealth. Upon viewing an uninfected human, the Carrier will run towards them, and explode, releasing a Gasher in the process. If the sac containing the Gasher is shot, It will rupture, and expel the Gasher.

Colonies and Outposts

None have been established.

Do's and Don'ts

Do

  • Attempt to find an exit as soon as possible.

Don't

  • DO NOT, in ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, attempt to engage any of the entities in this level.

Logs

Many audio recordings have been found in 2508. Their transcripts are listed here.

Log 1 - I'm Sorry

I don't know what the fuck i'm doing here anymore. Harley got stabbed by one of those damn things, then she started fucking changing. She started vomiting all over the floor, just…fucking….everywhere. I should have tried to save her. She didn't survive. Now she's just one of those things.... She almost sliced me open, I'm surprised I didn't see her coming. I think the wound's infected. Fuck. The rations aren't enough. I'm gonna have to scavenge something. Gary, please help.

Log 2 - Blasphemy

I want you to hear me, for I will never be able to tell you myself. Why can't they see it? The smile I wear on my face? The peace I spread? My sorrow for those that only wish to destroy? It's right in front of their very eyes. The truth, The Infected, are proof that eternal life is near... They are the heralds of humanity's ascension, and to keep them at bay, is blasphemy. The only reasons we don't all die right now, are the infectious. And if you knew that you would live too. You would love yourself and only then would you realize that there is no way to keep the Infected at bay. The more you suffer the closer we get to salvation. Yes, we would choose death, but only to be rid of this world's evils and to reach another where we can be free.

Log 3 - Reversal

Dismember the fuckers. That's the only way you can kill them.

It's up to you. It's up to you whether you want to stay alive or just go down.

That boy probably had his whole life ahead of him, and yet that brute ripped him apart in a matter of seconds. I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand watching. So we ran.

And then there was that cultist bastard.

Really? What'd you ever do to him? No, you never did anything. He was practically waltzing around, and then he stabbed her with a needle. She... She began throwing up this glowing yellow stuff, and... and... just like that, the light in her eyes faded. I guess there's no shame in the end, is there?

We all go.

We all hit walls.

Then this must be a wall. But this time, there's no climbing over.

M.E.G. Operative Report

I froze it. I froze the damn thing. The Beast, they called it? I don't get how it regenerates that fast. The energy used to create new limbs, let alone the ones it already has, would be ASTRONOMICAL. The simple fact that I'm standing here in front of it is a miracle in itself.

The thing is eight feet tall, can regenerate limbs as well as grow entirely new ones, and absorb entities to use their properties at will. I saw it absorb a Gasher, and use its long claws for a few minutes, before it exploded... And regenerated again.

Eight feet tall and regenerating as quickly as a slimy hatchling would, The Beast... I could feel the goddamn Beast all over my skin.

As for the Beast, we've been hunting it for weeks, weeks of the worst hunts I've ever been on. But, we caught it... Well, as caught as we are going to get... With it still alive, staring me in the face. The Beast still sees us as the enemy, no matter what we tell it. Despite our best efforts, its gaze is solid. I should hate it for the pain it's caused me. But somehow, I can't. The Beast is trying to kill me, trying to kill us all. No matter what I do, the damned thing just keeps growing and regenerating. I know it's taking more energy to keep it down than to grow and do... Something else. But I can't put a finger on what.

Log End.
