Level 273 is the 274th level of the Backrooms.

Description [Revised]
The exact physical characteristics of Level 273 have proven difficult to ascertain or describe due to its nature. By unknown means, the level's temperature remains at a constant 0 Kelvin (-273° C), also called Absolute Zero. It is unknown how Level 273 preserves its structural integrity, because particles cease all movement at this theoretical temperature. Upon further investigation, however, it appears that approximately every 11 days, the temperature of Level 273 sharply rises and remains at around -5° C (22° F) for about 2 hours, before dropping back down to Absolute Zero.
From what can be attained from explorations, Level 273 consists of an extensive set of tight steel corridors, stretching for an unknown distance. The walls, floors, and ceiling of the level all appear to be constructed from the same gray metal. Initially, Level 273 was thought to resemble an open arctic tundra, with distant mountains and snow-covered land. This was documented in the first exploration of the level, with the explorers preparing a location to establish an outpost. However, upon the third exploration of the level on 4/29/██, it appeared completely different. Upon entry, the appearance and layout of the level were completely different from the first expedition. Rather than an open artic tundra, or anything of the sort, the level consisted entirely of tight steel hallways. The hallways did not appear to lead to any rooms; they were connected at seemingly random intervals, leading into each other in no particular fashion. The temperature-fluctuating property still applied, however, preserving the previously discovered safe 2-hour temperature window. This makes Level 273 open for exploration approximately every 11 days.
Colonies and Outposts
Due to the nature of Level 273, creating a colony or outpost is not possible for a time longer than 2 hours.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
Entering Level 273 is strongly advised against due to its temperature; it is only safe to enter for the 2-hour temperature window about every 11 days.
- The entrance door in Level 332 has been documented to open to this level on rare occasions.
- Certain extended hallways in Level 3 may lead to Level 273. These hallways can be identified by a lack of pipes lining the walls and a noticeable decrease in temperature as one traverses the hallway.
Exits
As one cannot enter this level and survive for an extended period of time, any exits are and may remain unknown.
Level 273 is the 188th level of the Backrooms.

Description
The physical characteristics of Level 273 are as of yet unknown due to the level having a constant temperature of 0 Kelvin (-273° C), also called Absolute Zero. Particles cease all movement at this theoretical temperature, so surviving in this level for any period of time is impossible. Due to this, explorations cannot be carried out and obtaining accurate image data has proven difficult thus far. The only recovered images depicting Level 273 are recovered from an experiment where live video equipment was entered into the level, immediately before it lost connection and ceased function. It is unknown how this temperature is reached in a natural environment. From the recovered image data, it may be assumed that this level is an outdoor environment, resembling an arctic tundra.
Colonies and Outposts
Due to the nature of Level 273, creating a colony or outpost is impossible.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
Entering Level 273 is strongly advised against at all costs due to its temperature and resultingly uninhabitable environment.
- The entrance door in Level 332 has been documented to open to this level on rare occasions.
Exits
As one cannot enter this level and survive, any exits are and may remain unknown.
Level 273 Addendum - 3/27/██
Kauer Research Base and Outpost
Upon further investigation of Level 273, it appears that its temperature of 0 Kelvin (-273° C) is not actually constant. Research and measurements with temperature sensors conclude that the level's internal temperature of 0 Kelvin fluctuates to about 267 Kelvin, or about -5° C (22° F), for approximately 2 hours every 11 days. This discovery has opened many opportunities for future exploration of Level 273, the first of which has been scheduled for 4/7/██, approximately during the safe period of temperature. A research outpost shall be constructed over time in the level, while maintaining precaution of the 2-hour window.
Level 273 Initial Exploration Log - 4/7/██
Kauer Research Base and Outpost
An exploration of Level 273 was scheduled for 4/7/██, aiming for the 2-hour period of safe temperature. The exploration was carried out by Field Agent Fleming and Researcher Lockwood. The pair entered the level at 10:23 A.M., shortly after the temperature fluctuation occurred. Cold protection gear was brought with the team, along with supplies to establish a location for an outpost. On entry, the physical characteristics of the level were able to be described in full. Level 273 resembles an arctic tundra, with various snow-covered mountains and frozen bodies of water strewn about. The team noted the strange lack of natural sounds, along with a lack of wind. However, this was to be expected, considering the level stays at a temperature of 0 Kelvin for about 286 hours before reaching higher temperatures, allowing nothing to live or exist during this time. Additionally, they noted a blue star in the sky, functioning as a sun. After approximately 13 minutes of the team searching for a viable location for a base, they happened upon a broken-down and weathered structure, resembling a small hut. It was unable to be properly dated, but it appeared as if it was created many years ago and left to the elements. Researcher Lockwood noted that the presence of this structure has interesting implications. After 22 minutes, the team found a viable location to begin construction of a research outpost. They posted a flag in the location and started to set basic guidelines for the building. The pair was ordered to exit the level around 1 hour and 43 minutes into their expedition. At this time in the exploration, the team noted that the blue star in the sky appeared to be slowly moving away. Conversely, the temperature in the level began to notably decrease. The team initially struggled to find a proper exit, but 1 hour and 52 minutes in, they managed to discover that entering the broken-down structure will transport one to their previous location outside Level 273. Field Agent Fleming collected several samples, but reported that he was unable to take any images, as photo equipment ceased function once inside the level. Further explorations to continue construction of the research outpost are yet to be scheduled. Further explorations of Level 273 have been requested.
