Description
Level 311 is a 1002 mile long evergreen forest with many unique entities and 6 sub regions. The weather in Level 311 is a cold constantly foggy overcast with no clear time of day. Throughout most of the level there are Almond Water springs and wild berries and fruits which is the main source of food and hydration for most travelers in Level 311. The temperatures while never getting too extreme can cause hypothermia in unprepared travelers so at least wearing a coat or jacket is recommended. While there are many unique entities to this level there are some familiar ones like facelings, smilers and deathmoths as well as regular wilderness animals such as deer and bears.
Sub-Regions
Level 311 is split into 6 different sub regions: The Mountains, Safe Zone, Highway, Salt Swamps, Wilderness and Ocean.
Mountains
An aerial photo taken of the Mountains
The mountains will most likely be your first introduction to Level 311. The Mountains are extremely cold and are almost devoid of resources and entities. Most people die in this section of the level and as such this region is riddled with bodies. There exists a dirt path however that if you follow will lead you to the Safe Zone. This dirt path is the safest part in this region as it is devoid of the fog and is filled with small holes filled with bottles of almond water.
Safe Zone
One of the less built up areas of the safe zone.
The Safe Zone has a very high population of humans with 768364839583471927912927219438 of people living in this area. There are many reasons for this high population such as the number of abounded towns and even a small abounded city providing infrastructure to sustain a large population, as well as the high amounts of resources such as food and water that are available in this region. There is also an effect in this region similar to Level 11 where all normally hostile entities are passive.
Highway
This is a wooded area of the Highway Region
The Highway is a cleared out location of the forest with a highway and train tracks present in this area. There is risk of running into hostile entities in this region so it is advised to proceed with caution when entering. Along the highway there are several abandoned gas stations, restaurants and travel stops that contain a adequate amount of supplies.
Salt Swamps
A photo taken of the Salt Swamps
The Salt Swamps are a salt water marshland located along the coastline of Level 311. Because the salt rich mud can bog down walking, it is advised to wear proper gear before entering this region. This salt mud is also a very good building material when dried and are often formed to bricks. It should also be noted that the entire area gets flooded during high tide.
Wilderness
Little is know about the Wilderness. The section is so over populated with trees that it has become extremely difficult to traverse/explore. Those who enter this region rarely come back and when they do they often report loud howling and grunting noises. It is rumored that this region is overran with entities such as gorillas or wolves that prey on people traveling this region.
Ocean
As evident from the Salt Swamps there is a vast ocean in the northern section of Level 311. Despite it being a ocean, there is no aquatic life to be found apart from large patches of ocean plants such as kelp and seaweed.
Unique Entities
One of the things that make Level 311 unique is its collection of entities unique to this level.
Scythes
The Scythes are humanoid 6 foot tall insects with two bladed arms found in the Highway and Wilderness. They are hostile but will only attack lone wanderers. One of their hunting strategies when coming across a groups is to release a odorless chemical into the air that drives people closer to insanity and makes them more angry. Once a group is split up this way they will kill of the members one by one. It is possible to kill a Sythen by chopping both of their arms off before they can stab you.
The Hunter
The Hunter is a large humanoid entity who is an aggressive, unrelenting taxidermist living in the Wilderness, the Hunter not only kills other entities and wildlife, but also people unlucky enough to get caught in his traps or cross paths with him, just so he can add them to his crude trophy collection. His most striking feature is the burlap sack used to mask his oversized head: the Hunter has only cut a single large eyehole open for him to see and keeps the mask tied around his neck with a rope to keep it from coming off. The Hunter's face is never seen and it is unknown why the Hunter wears this mask or why he only cut one eyehole open, though it could be possible that he used to be a wanderer who had completely lost all of his remaining sanity and transformed into a Faceling. The Hunter appears to wear a shabby dark green coat, a pair of leather gloves, boots, brown pants and a brown Gatsby cap atop his head. Mysteriously, cotton stuffing seems to be leaking out of various rips on his coat, most notably on his right shoulder and around his waist. It is never explained why the Hunter is leaking cotton wool, but it may be linked to his fascination for taxidermy. He is always armed with a large, double-barrel shotgun and a lantern-style flashlight whenever he is out on a hunt.
Colonies and Outposts
Edgewood
The largest town in this level, Edgewood's population consists of 100000000000 billions of people and the town is home to several businesses open for trade. Despite its prosperity it requires all of its water from Oasis, as Edgewood does not have a nearby water source.
