Level 31459271828 is a very large and open level with claimed ownership by a new faction, the Backrooms Diocese. A common nickname for this level is pie, given the numbers similarities to mathematical constants, pi and e. At first glance, it appears to be a large recreation center-like facility, named Mesa Recreation Center, with apartments and houses surrounding the building. Beyond it, is vast land.
Description
The environment is so similar to anyone living in the suburban United States, it may fool survivors into thinking they are home. The key difference is that the whole place is populated by entities known as inflatables. These tend to be friendly. There is organic flora but no biological fauna.
There are shops, factories, and other common services that can be found in the front rooms present. It is advised to obey laws that one would follow in the United States in order to stay safe. Entities known as Inflatables that are humanoid may carry firearms and will protect themselves if attacked.
US currency from the front world is the only valid currency. Visit a pawn shop to sell items to acquire currency. Or take a job in construction, as the inflatables are much more hesitant to take those jobs, and they pay highly.
It is possible to stay at this level indefinitely, provided one finds a way to obtain key resources. There is a standard day/night cycle present.
Mapping is incomplete, but early cartography efforts show the level is similar to the continental United States. There is a society of entities present in this level. The history and anthropology of this society are unknown. Some believe this to be a capitalist/constitutional republic utopia, given the very low crime rate, lack of homelessness, and peacefulness, although many in the faction are skeptical of this claim. There is an internet, but it is not the same as the one in the Frontrooms and is more akin to the internet of the early 2000s.
Be advised there are no religious accommodations for humans, see below for key exceptions.
Entities
Inflatables
Entity: Inflatable cartoon wolf. These tend to be docile to humans, but otherwise act behave like Frontroom wolves.
The entities exclusive to this level are inflatables. These are PVC inflatables, mostly akin to pool toys or display inflatables, but rarely are more detailed inflatables. These look like humans or animals, or extremely rare, entities. The shape and design influence their properties.
These entities have a range of intelligence, from animal-like to human sapience. It depends on the inflatable in question. If it looks like a cartoon wolf, it’s likely to behave like a dog or its corresponding cartoon character. If an inflatable is cartoon-like, it might have the properties of said character. There was one inflatable that is shaped like Twilight sparkle from my little pony, and it had the magic powers from the show.
Inflatables that are entity-shaped will inherit their properties unless said properties conflict with the main inflatable properties. In that case, inflatable properties prevail.
The three consistent properties are as follows.
Firstly, they must eat to perform actions, such as walking and talking, along with their powers. They obey the first law of thermodynamics, the reason for this is unknown.
Secondly is the skin, lack of better terms, of the inflatable, is chemically PVC and has its physical and chemical properties. As such, it is flammable.
Lastly, popping the inflatable kills it. If one punctures a hole in an inflatable, a red liquid that has the color of blood will appear from the point of entry. This will attempt to close the “wound”. If this fails, and about 40% of air is lost, the inflatable “dies” and loses all of its special properties. The liquid is believed to be vinyl cement. In either scenario, do not consume this liquid. Reinflating a dead inflatable does not restore its properties but is viewed as highly sacrilegious to other inflatables.
If an inflatable leaves this level, it will turn into a normal inflatable, and this is irreversible if brought back.
How these entities reproduce is unknown.
It should be noted these Entities are aware of the Backrooms, but refer to the Backrooms as "Lifeboat."
Colonies and outposts
As stated earlier, the entities have a society akin to that of the United States.
Backrooms Diocese Provisional Government
This predominantly Catholic group oversees most human activities in this level. In fact, this level is their home base. There is a Cathedral called "Our Lady St Mary's Cathedral" that holds mass on Sunday. Due to the perceived risk of this level being colonized and exploited, the Backrooms Diocese established a strict vetting process for wanderers wishing to visit.
Entrances and exits
Entrance is strictly monitored. Do not enter without authorization and approved documents. If you end up in this level by accident, immediately state this to the customs officer, and you will be escorted to an exit shuttle.
Entrances
- Level 11: look for a pool, and head to one of the sheds labeled: storage. You will end up in the Mesa recreation center.
- Level 36: board the flight labels: Inflatable Airways. This is yet to be confirmed. You will end up at the Skipper International airport.
- Level 119: when a slide glitches into another slide, break the slide as it fills with water and crawl out of the made hole. You will end up in the Mesa Recreation Center water park.
Exits
- Board any international flight at the level's various international airports, you will end up in level 36.
