Level 323 is the 324th level of the Backrooms, known as the Land of Predators. and is one of the biggest producer of entities other than the Hive itself.
The level primarily consists of woodlands, winding their way through thousands of islands and mountains. The climate here varies between tropical, temperate and continental. Rainforests are the most common ecosystems here, but there are also savannas or even tundras, depending on the region. The world is apparently a single continent with numerous archipelagos, with characteristics of both Asia and Europe. It's unknown how far the world goes, as no one ever survives traveling too far from the "safe zones" and adventuring beyond are not recommended, except for those prepared to fight for their lives, with great possibility of death.

Despite much research, there's very little known yet about this strange world. Ancient civilization spread deep in the untouched jungle, as if there's many extinct civilization here. There's no known native tribes here, as the only citizens of the level are settlers from another level, may they be wanderers or entities alike. Aside from occasional villages built by the settlers, the level is almost entirely a battleground between local monstrous creatures. In here, it's almost impossible to determine the food chain or hierarchy, simply because everything tries to kill and eat everything else. Cats eat dogs, lambs hunt wolves, and many more phenomena that most would find to be unnatural may happen here. The primary factor causing this is the bizarre environment that breeds so many odd organisms, or mutations of existing species, thus continuously adding more and more predators to the ecosystem. (For more information, read the "Ecology" section)
The Land of Predators is where life and death fight for dominance, in a place where many are born and many die daily. The level is teeming with life, but everything here would prey on each other. In a cruelly ironic yet oddly beautiful manner, the level maintains the cycle of life and death in utmost balance. Those who died nurture the new generation to come, and those who were born from this soil, fought their lives to death. Those who cannot survive, simply become food for others.

The Land of Predators is a wonderland of many unique lifeforms seen nowhere else, but common creatures do lives here. Wolves, tigers, lions, hyenas, hawks, spiders, snakes, and many more predatory animals are abundant here. Furthermore, many of them are somewhat different than average animals, as many of them are significantly more aggressive, stronger and tougher, even bigger than what they should be. Many animals are seemingly "mutated" by the influence of the level, or the entities here, creating a large varieties of monsters that are unnatural, yet also natural. It's almost as if the law of evolution is on steroids here, as so many beings are forced to adapt against the harsh, merciless world where everything tries to hurt each other, thus developing many defensive mechanisms that cannot be found anywhere else.

Due to this, the level is a treasure trove for biologists but a nightmare for taxonomists, as it's almost impossible to tell which species come from which families. The widespread mutation is so prevalent, the genes of animals mix and merge. There's countless of varieties of organism here, such that it would be impossible to tell what are normal animals, and what are monstrous entities. The level is basically a hotbed of abominable infection, but the plague is mother nature herself. That being said, with countless of diseases, comes countless of medicines.
The level is hell for its fauna, but heaven for its flora. The land is home to countless of plants, with estimated millions of unique species that only exist here. Many would found the ecology here to be alien in appearance, with abundance of colorful, even fluorescent vegetation. Many of them are either carnivorous or parasitic in nature, but many of them has priceless benefits on others. Herbs and fruits of magical, even miraculous properties has been discovered and farmed by the locals, often sold with a high price across the Backrooms.
Here are the current most valuable commodities of the level, ranked from the most common to the rarest;
- Super Spices: The level is home to thousands of unique spices that cannot be find anywhere else, and required to cook some of the most expensive dishes. The creatures on the level are often included in the ingredients too.
- Glowy Fungi: A big genus of fluorescent fungi with thousands knowns variations of colors. Most of them taste like candies or some kind of sweet treats, but some of them taste like other foods instead.
- Lunch Boxes Fruits: These weird fruits looks like wooden lunch boxes containing tasty meals. Apparently, some trees do this to adapt to the increasingly modern taste of the creatures here. Granted, they taste better than most fruits here, but many of the lunch boxes are poisonous. Sometimes, you may find lunch boxes filled with raw ingredients or inedible materials.
- Happydays: One of the most expensive drug produced on this level. Happydays are group of hallucinogen product derived from substance hilaritas that produced by some fauna and flora here. What makes Happydays so special is its benefit on increasing dopamine to an extreme level, instantly giving an unbearable amount of joy and pleasure to the consumer. There's even a saying that "Happydays can turn Partypoopers to Partygoers" but there's no confirmation of the theory. There are evidence that the Partygoers DOES enjoy Happydays.
- Life Water: A rare crystalline water from the pristine springs of the level may produce life water. Unlike Almond Water or Neon Water that has distinct taste, life water taste like normal water, just much more refreshing and healthy. Life water can heal any living being, even entities, but may instead worsen some symptoms, as the water worked by bolstering the life of the consumer, which also healed whatever entities that infects them. When consumed correctly, life water is a miraculous elixir that can bring back someone from the brink of death. Due to this, then life water is one of the most expensive drink existed in the Backrooms.

- Spiritual Floras: A wide variety of mystical plants that exhibit supernatural quality and often attracts paranormal beings. They're beauty to behold, and one of the most expensive commodity in the level, as a good quality spiritual flora can be more expensive than a real estate. Apparently, this is because each of them contain condensed life forces of many lives, and if used correctly, can extend the lifespan of living beings, or even turn them to power entities. You can easily identify a spiritual flora by the ethereal aura they exude, and they tend to have colorful, brightly glowing flowers. Currently, every discovered spiritual floras fall under the protection of M.E.G. in order to prevent abuse from dangerous factions, but the B.N.T.G. often seek to obtain these elusive plants due to their lucrative business prospect.

Aside for commodities, the spiritual floras of the level seems to hold a vital role on maintaining the ecosystem. After all, each of them are connected to the lives of so many beings, and even the dead are attached to them. Due to this, the legality of selling these mysterious plants have been debated, and their ownership often turned to legal disputes between powerful factions. There's also an environmental concern, as there's many cases where damage to the trees cause extreme consequences, such as famine or even natural disasters. It's theorized that the network of life forces between the plants goes back to the biggest plant in this world; The World Trees.
The World Tree is the largest known plant in this world, and this supermassive organism can grow taller than skyscrapers or even dwarfing down mountains, depend on their age and species. They're considered to be the most important lifeform of the level, as their lives are directly connected with the ecosystem. Each of them are like the heart of nature for each regions, and the death of each trees means the death of each ecosystem. Without the World Tree, the spiritual floras would wither, or at least be diminished in power, creating a domino effect to the ecology and would likely cause a mass extinction event. Due to this, an attempt to damage the World Trees are to be considered as crime against every living beings in the region, equivalent to threatening a whole country. However, due to the sheer size and durability of the trees, then even high-caliber explosives would barely hurt them. The only recorded case of a World Tree dying is happened in Operation Delta Emerald, caused due to a massive outbreak that force many factions to destroy the World Tree of Aramaia, otherwise the whole level would be corrupted.
Entities
A group of Overgrowns (unknown artist)
With how little we understand the ecosystem of the level, and how much land left undiscovered, then there's no telling on how much entities, or what kind of entities that inhabit the level. Common entities that are found in other levels such as Facelings, Smilers, Scratcher, Hounds. Death Rats, Death Moths, Toxin Spitters and many more may be found here, but many of them tend to be disfigured, mutated, warped and corrupted to become something more demented than before. Many of them turned bloated with various diseases and parasites, even fused with other creatures and become amalgamation of horror. Most often, any entities, even wanderers or ordinary creatures may be infested with parasitic plants that torment and twist them to horrifying macabre. Oftentimes, the creatures are still alive and conscious for many years as the infection spreading through their flesh, bones, blood and skin, until all of their organs are eventually consumed.
These variations of creatures are known as "Overgrown" and they could happen to simply any living beings. Due to the level of mutation, it's often impossible to tell the difference between an overgrown facelings or wanderers. There are many variations of the infection, and currently, there's 72 different overgrown variants for wanderers and facelings alone. Depending on the infection type, an overgrown could possess an immense strength, speed, and unique abilities that makes them distinguishable than others. As an example, there are overgrowns that are harmless, but spreading rotten odor much like zombies. Meanwhile, some more problematic overgrowns may produce corrosive or toxic substances for them to spit or vomit on others. Some overgrowns even become explosives, and is easily recognizable from their fiery orange glows. Some overgrowns are nocturnal and use bioluminescent to illuminate themselves, making them glows in fluorescent.
Confronting the Deadwood (Credit to Velinov)
Other than the overgrowns, there are also group of entities known as "Deadwoods" that specifically refers to the sentient plants themselves rather than the infected victims. Deadwoods are monstrous carnivorous plants that exist in many shape and size, as there's many varieties for each of their species. Deadwoods are commonly found deep in the darker side of the woodlands, and each of them are the apex predator for each regions. Although many of them are stationary and immobile, they possessed an extremely dangerous reach and ferocious agility to snap and snatch their prey with uncanny accuracy. Because of this, it's suggested to stay away from them, and if it's necessary to dispose them, use firearms or explosives. Even a simple Molotov cocktail can hurt them, but be careful on not to burn the whole forest, because you might either harm innocent lives or attract more monsters. Confronting the deadwoods without sufficient tools would be suicide, unless you're the Crimson Wanderer or someone that could contest his level of power.
A painting of the Gardener (Credit to Sandara)
Apparently, the source of the floral entities here is the boss entity of the level, known as the Gardener, also known as Mother Green, Elven Lady, Verdant Queen and many more epithet. Unlike most entities in the Backrooms, the Gardener is mostly seen as benevolent, gentle, caring and loving. Many worships the entity, considering her as a goddess of the forest, or spirit of nature. Despite the widespread belief, there are sign that the entity is malevolent, even cruel and sadistic, as she's the one who created many of the monsters and diseases here. Apparently, the Gardener care most for the beauty of lives, but has little to no empathy to the suffering of the living. Perhaps why she allows deadly monsters and horrible plague, as the rules of nature dictate that the strong should eat the weak, and the weak adapt to evolve against the world. Even then, it is an undeniable fact that she maintained the harmony of the ecosystem. Just like the philosophy known through the level; "The Land of Predators is where life and death fought for dominance, in a place where many born and many died. A place teeming with life, and where the living fought for their lives. A world where the cycle of life and death in utmost balance. Those who died nurture the new generation to come, and those who born from this soil, fought their lives to death. Those who cannot survive, simply become food for others."
