Description[]

A photograph of the entrance to the bullet factory.
Expansive sets of fertile yet desolate grassland accompanied by systems of twisting and often overlaping roads with occasional water tower, electic power poles, and fences, form the simplest disposition of Etas di Batalius (Level 339)—also known as Aurielle level[1] or Enkeli. Through mindless hills broken by brief, infrequent, segments of shrubbery and treeline, ponds, lakes, and other natural irregularities, there are misfit structures such as rural houses, or monuments similar to the Blossom Altar within Level 79. Evidence of civilization still exists within the level's fundamentals, namely through flags or signage in Aurielleno and other languages.
The interiors of buildings vary; however, rooms often include memorabilia or discarded military equipment from unrelated times. Some interiors are disarrayed or riddled with discarded items; oftentimes, structures with these have bullet holes and cases or weapon parts, and they are accompanied by a pungent smell akin to rotting corpses.
Cave entrances and subterranean locations are scarcely found on the landscape—most of human origin. These caves and caverns often have pools of water with minerals such as quartz, salts, and diamonds; sections with large bodies of water possess bridges and railings, even in newly discovered cave systems. The largest and currently most recognized subterranean system is known as Rochas' Alberevo,[2] considered infamous for its root-like and brown-colored tunnels.
Human habitation has significantly affected the level. Practical colonization has sowed the seeds of fecundity of biodiversity to the previously famished, yet fertile, level, as exterior plants and animals are brought to it due to pastoring and agriculture. Mediterranean-styled human constructions teeming with life and activity within settlements belonging to both towns and cities sprinkle and characterize the levels, obtaining their utilities through redirecting them from pre-existing ones. Opposite to other such occasions, the Auriellen superpower holds near hegemonic control over the level.
Locations[]
Volucris Corsius Terrestri Teplam Altum[]
Dawning within 100 kilometers of most entrances, surrounded by Volucris. Referred to as the Volucris Corsius Terrestri Teplam Altum,[3] it is heavily defended and used by the Republic of Aurielle to manufacture ammunition for its armed forces, allies, and clients. The exact specific procedures to supply such operations are unknown, although it is noted that production increases during the autumn season.

Casteal di St. Ascendez[]
Spanning 100 hectares, the Casteal di St. Ascendez is a popular tourism spot consisting of a large, Romanesque castle and village surrounded by walls, sitting atop a hill in an otherwise flat location. Within the castle are Renaissance-era paintings, marmols, marble pillars, and statues. Within the center is a courtyard, which is made up of a stone walkway under a covered area with lanterns, two garden areas with bushes, shrubs, and small trees, and a pedestal with encryptions that reads "Chacun voit midi à sa porte."[4]
Several Auriellen citizens, especially those of French descent, live in the village.
Dem Spera[]
Dem Spera are a series of five structures scattered across the five main entrances of the level. In each location, there are several spikes made of stones protruding from the ground, each a different height. Dem Speras have no plaques or comprehensible written information regarding them within and around them, except for gibberish on the sides. Furthermore, only a dirt surface with stone spires piercing the sky and back are present around the structures, as the area around them lacks any natural foliage or trees.
A few items have been recovered from two Spera locations over the decades; their purpose, significance, and function remain unknown, however it is believed they were placed by ancient tribes that settled the level. Dem Spera have been recognized as a holy place by many governments and thus are off-limits for any form of construction or addition to them due to their assumed significance, both for the various civilizations within the level and the level itself.

Our Humvees stopped under the star-ridden night at a gas station, its lights the only form of illumination aside from the headlights of our vehicles. The sergeant in charge of the squad stepped out of the first vehicle, followed by a corporal and then the infantrymen. Our vehicle followed, with the corporal leaving and then me and my fellow infantrymen following soon after. We were organized on a uniform line. The squad leader instructed the drivers of the Humvee to refuel the hummers and the two gunners to act as guards. Everyone else went to get food from the nearby establishment: Parman's Tabeirno.
I activated my firearm's safety catch, and placed it snuggly between my hips and my arm, suspended by gun slings, and then waited for others to begin walking. "Forward." the sergent said, soon the detachment began marching through the glistening, wet floor. My buddy held the door, and all of us entered; the establishment was mostly empty, say except for the server, and a few other lone individuals eating. There was a calming, yet somewhat eerie quietness.
"Select your order, no alcoholic drinks, remember that." the sergeant ordered, he snapped back to me. "Oh, and Fajita, check in with the order guys to see what they want."
"Roger." I responded with shooting a brief salute, which the sergeant noted and responded with, "Also, ey, you don't need to do all of that." He joked before dismissing me and going with the rest of the squad elsewhere. Meanwhile, I ambled outdoors, taking in the cold temperature of the night as I stood by the door. I let go of my rifle, it hung loosely by the straps, tilting downwards. I felt calm, in spite of where I was; is this what we had been working toward? Comfort in irreality? Shape suffering into ideality. Nearly, I forgot the task that had been given to me by the hands of my own rambling.

Enshrouded in mystery are the unknown soldiers of the past. They are not named and have no family, yet their sacrifices built the foundation of the nest—he who planted the first sticks. They are all who served Aurielle. Whose faces we may not know, whose sacrifices we may never fully comprehend, yet they stand with us as one—bound and always progressing towards the eagle's nest. - Unknown Auriellen, 2013

Entities[]
Most native entities have been hunted to extinction; those who remain do not possess a considerable presence within the level.
Communities and Outposts[]
While the level is dominated by Aurielle, many groups have appeared. Only the most major will be listed.

Emerging from the unification of Sidus, the Republic of Aurielle is a superpower with a history molded by folds of war. Aurielle is a democratic state with little self-reservation in geopolitics, as seen by its frequent involvement in international conflict, with a philosophy of imperialist expansion, obligation to democratization, and vassalization in order to roll back and contain the M.E.G.'s influence. Its capital and many other major cities lie within the confines of Etas di Batalius.
A heavily industrialized state willing to shape the foundations of the Backrooms for resources and living space, the Republic's reach goes far beyond the level. Interestingly, despite the Republic's aggressive political stance, it remains among the most culturally diverse groups within the Backrooms, valuing unity, patriotism, competitiveness, and militarism.

The Federal Republic of Chekim is the oldest still-surviving civilization within Level 339. A socialist state that abolished its army in 1953 and serves on a pure-diplomacy doctrine, it works as a surprisingly good mediator for Auriellen action, both domestically and internationally. Its close relations with the Republic, which provides Chekim's military protection, and collaboration with Aurielle in diplomatic events have given Chekim the title of "Hawk's voice of reason."
As a nation, Chekim spends much of its time focusing on itself through social spending. It has also adopted Florism as its religion, though it accepts most other forms of religions except for Brokenism, who have faced harsh religious persecution over the years.

Unafflicted by most forms of external influence, the State of Vadella is an environmentalist, bioregional nation focused on the preservation of important ecological sites and Dem Speras. Operating in the Kylma-Kivi area, it is largely self-sustainable and prides itself on a decently sized military, which it uses in case all prior attempts at diplomacy fail, and a notable grandness in trade and environmental politics.
Vadella hosts the largest commercial economic trade center outside of Aurielle within the level, known as the Sininem-Kevi Free Economic Zone, and the headquarters for the Association of Enkeli States[5] (AES)
