Description

Level 374, also jokingly called “The Meat Factory”, is a massive, technologically-advanced industrial establishment that serves as a meat processing plant and slaughterhouse with multiple pipes and smokestacks throughout the level. It has a 'central hub' of sorts which branches off to many different areas of the factory that can be seen in the distance. In this level various entities of the backrooms and animals are harvested, slaughtered by strange, pig-headed butchers and turned into a variety of meat products. These products include canned meat, sausages, burgers and select cuts. More products may exist but have not been officially documented.

The level is a noisy, surreal place with faceless workers typing on stenographs, operating strange-looking machinery, and processing food. They are closely watched by similarly faceless security guards, and security cameras are intermittently placed in all of the rooms in locations ranging from normal to nonsensical. Some parts of this factory also have to deal with infestations of other Backrooms entities that are farmed in the level, including Hounds, Howlers, Deathmoths, Clumps, Observers, and Smilers. The floors, walls, and ceilings are covered in gray concrete tiles that are usually cracked. Metallic pipes with organic appearances can also be found as well as a prison-like area with several other entities and people locked inside the cells. These cells are specifically designed to emulate the natural environment of the occupants.

Highly advanced, almost alien-like technology is abundant in this level, ranging from generators and force fields to matter disintegration fields, elevators and platforms that defy gravity and giant tubes that transport unknown fluids. Aside from the terrariums, the entire building is constructed with a grainy, ceramic-like material. It has a hydroelectric power plant, a nuclear waste disposal facility, and a dormitory complex big enough to accommodate an entire city's worth of people. The central factory building is connected to several other buildings, although these are typically small manufacturing plants and storage centers.

Inhabitants

Level 374's inhabitants consist of several entities encountered from all across other levels of the Backrooms, but the factory itself also has a fair share of employees and staff members.

The Butchers

Butchers are the most common type of entity that an ordinary Wanderer would encounter within this level. They usually appear as butchers with the heads of pigs and various levels of cybernetic enhancements. They work in the level without question, cooking and preparing food for all the other entities. They will occasionally patrol certain areas of the level, and if these patrolling Butchers spot a Wanderer exploring the level, they will chase them down. Butchers are able to smash doors, destroy reinforced glass and run for several hours without getting tired. They usually wield kitchen knives and cleavers, but some are equipped with various types of unconventional weapons such as surgically-attached chainsaws, flamethrowers, tranquilizer rifles and bolt guns. However, they are attracted to loud noises and will investigate them.

The Guards

Guards typically appear as faceless humanoids with dark-blue security officer uniforms. They appear to serve as the level's law enforcement and typically wield firearms such as revolvers, combat shotguns, and automatic weapons like submachine guns and assault rifles, which they use to great effect. However, some wield smoke grenades and nightsticks. Like the Butchers, if they spot a Wanderer exploring the level, they will chase them down.

The Workers

Workers typically appear as faceless humanoids dressed in very formal attire with black ties or industrial overalls along with white construction helmets. They are the ones responsible for operating most of the complicated machinery found throughout the level, and their professions usually boil down to manual labor such as animal husbandry, manufacturing, construction, mining, or maintenance of the facility. While usually passive, they will only attack if provoked.

The Janitors

Janitors typically appear as wolves with one or two pairs of human arms surgically grafted onto their backs. Their occupation consists of disposing of stray dead bodies, cleaning up stray blood splatters, combating the infestation of trespassers and other wild Backrooms entities in the level and patrolling some parts of the Sectors. Like the Workers, Janitors are passive and usually attack travelers if provoked.

Colonies and Outposts

There are no known colonies and outposts on this level.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

Aside from noclipping here, there is a direct way to access this level. Should you find a ringing telephone in Level 11 and you pick it up, you will be transported to this level.

Exits

Opening a specific mold-covered manhole in one of the maintenance tunnels and going down the rusted ladders will take you to Level Mold.
