Description

Level 37 is an expansive complex of interconnected rooms and corridors slightly submerged in stagnant lukewarm water. The rooms vary in size and structure, ranging from uniform pools to more open, abnormally-shaped areas. The walls, ceilings, and floors of the level all appear to be constructed from white ceramic tile, with the only deviation from this color being the blue-green hue of the water.

Ideas: Level is always bright; water naturally rippling is theorized to originate from the level's massive size, so much so that it has developed its own tidal forces; the rooms do not seem randomized - it seems as though they have some sort of purpose, given their symmetrical and strict designs, but each room is far too large to effectively serve any presumed purpose; the sources of light in the level are unknown - they appear similarly to sunlight, but when observed, simply lead into another room - they are illogically placed, leaving certain areas dark and others filled with light; it has been discovered that the water is slightly more dense than the human body, similar to a sensory deprivation chamber; wanderers have differing responses to the level - some feel a deep sense of dread, whilst others feel a calming sensation of serenity.

> Researcher Note:

Level 37 truly amazes me. The differentiating effect it has on wanderers is truly intriguing; while one can feel peace and calm, another cannot help but notice a feeling of existential dread wash over them as they notice the strange, lightless corners of the level. "What lurks behind them?" they likely wonder. Is it of blight, of malice? A grim scepter seems to wash over the soul, leaving one unaware that they are completely safe. The wanderer may feel moribund, or may feel joyous. This strange, intriguing effect has never ceased in amazing me. Level 37 is without blemish or defect; the Poolrooms themselves are simply stunning - an intricate design, like a near-infinite puzzle whose pieces form something indescribably strange, yet, too indescribably perfect. It is my belief that Level 37 can only be the handiwork of a God.

He turned to his left, then to his right, and looked up. The strange location with bluish-green waters and seemingly perfect white tiles along the walls was strange; looking behind him, he saw much more light than he had in the other direction. He couldn't quite make out where it was coming from, though. Perhaps a celestial body – he had no way of knowing, and it did not concern him. The wanderer removed his bag from his back, holding it up to his stomach and opening it, to not get it wet. Several times, he lost grip; however, he always caught it before it hit the water. He took out a few essentials; a flashlight, in case of night, some food, and nothing more. He put the bag on his back and continued wading. Although the wanderer was seemingly confident from the beginning, as he treaded onwards, he caught his eyes wandering from left to right, at the darker, eerier pockets of Level 37. He began feeling butterflies in his stomach, his eyes scanning more and more rapidly. He did not feel alone, though he was more alone than he had ever been. He began to look up more and more. He turned around, having sworn to have heard something. There, of course, was nothing. He was alone. He finally found a ledge to get out of the water. He sat in a corner, his bag still on his back, his untouched food still in his hands. There he cried, the sounds of the water stifling any sounds that might have escaped.
