-Nightfoxy25.Level 385, colloquially known as "Troubled Towers", "Habitable Cloudscape", or "Sandwiched In Between" is the 386th level within the Backrooms. Level 385 was originally discovered on October 3rd, 1943, by a small group of wanderers, originally known as "The Backrooms Scavengers".
Description[]
The sound of the winds. This sound is considered to have therapeutic properties and is the reason for the improvement of one's mental health.
Level 385 takes on the appearance of an unending cloudscape, with tall, tower-like buildings; these towers form a sandwich-like structure; each floor has a white roof and ground; there are no walls; instead, the floors are held together by four black beams at every corner, which help in keeping the tower together. There is a 3-meter space separating each floor and ceiling. The towers' roofs and flooring resemble flat, rectangular surfaces. Each of the towers rises above the clouds. Level 385's towers differ in width, height, angle, etc. Some of the towers seem to extend infinitely upward; however, their lower area is limited by the clouds. As one goes up in the towers of Level 385, similar to the Frontrooms, the area will become colder; however, on Level 385, the area will cool down rapidly, with stashes of snow, snowflakes, and blocks of ice appearing as one ascends.
Level 385's towers may include nourishment, water, and various other items frequently encountered in wooden crates. All items present within the Backrooms might be found. The exits located on the towers' floor frequently indicate the level that they lead; for example, an office chair with droplets of water throughout likely indicates Level 4. While a sewer tunnel could result in Level 34, wanderers should do their best to determine which levels the exits will bring them to. Another important fact about these is that 50% of all exits found across the level take one to any level with a class indication between habitable and three.
Wanderers who try to traverse from one tower to another will not come back. Despite the bright lighting on Level 385, none of the towers appear to be enlightened. Wanderers may travel between floors by climbing the pillars in order to enter higher floors or taking stairs to lower floors, although stairs are not very common. Many wanderers within Level 385 report a strange phenomenon that occasionally makes Level 385 feel "unreal" in some aspects and seems to be a "bad Photoshop"; this phenomenon is known as "Sudden Unrealism" and is classified as Phenomenon 38. During a wanderer's stay on Level 385, their mental state will remain unchanged or improve. When wanderers gaze up at the crystal-clear skies of Level 385, they may feel calm and relaxed. Another common event in Level 385 is known as "Tower Confusion". This causes wanderers to become severely confused and potentially fall off the towers. Going too high up on the towers of Level 385 could take one to the Altures, a potentially dangerous and unknown area of Level 385.
On certain floors of buildings, tiny pyramid-shaped titanium devices with a label attached to their fronts reading "Project Everything" may be found. Upon pressing the red button, the device explodes; its detonation is equal to two hundred atomic bombs, killing any living being nearby. Unlike in the Frontrooms, the modified radiation found in the device would dissipate within roughly two years, although the dose is lethal and kills almost immediately on contact. Little to no information exists on this object besides what has been stated above. This device was given the name "Pyroamob" and cataloged as Object 48.
Another common object encountered within Level 385 is Object 14, colloquially known as "Paperstone." Paperstone takes on the appearance of an ordinary white rock; however, it appears to be partially composed of paper, despite not being composed of paper, hence the name. Paperstone is a smooth sedimentary rock. Paperstone is commonly used in the construction of various items in the Backrooms, including tools, residences, traps, and walls. Paperstone may also be utilized to generate energy, producing enough to charge a phone. Paperstone has demonstrated signs of glowing in the dark or when exposed to fire and radiation; the light is white; however, the light is normally dim, becoming brighter depending on the quantity of radiation, darkness, or distance to fire.
Within Level 385, there is a strange phenomenon known as "Towering Blocks". Invisible blocks suddenly appear and aim at wanderers, causing them to fall. Although this is rare, the M.E.G. and other organizations have been debating whether the event can be considered an entity or a phenomenon. Because of its apparent lack of intellect and life in general, this is more likely to be classified as a phenomenon than an entity. If a wanderer falls onto Level 385's clouds, they will almost certainly fall towards the Void; yet, there is a 20% chance they will end up in the Rooftops, a region of Level 385 located beneath the clouds.
In 1976, Level 385's main section went through various changes; these changes were known as "The 38 Modifications", despite less than 38 modifications happening. Previously, there were cloud "hills" spread around Level 385, and towers used to be located on these hills. As time passed, the hills began to become smaller, eventually ceasing to exist. There was also a rare event where beams would become white instead of black; the white beams slowly darkened until they became pitch-black. In Level 385, there were also fewer clouds, with some smaller areas lacking clouds, revealing an infinite yet beautiful sky below the cloudscape. The towers used to be composed of two primary regions: the upper and the lower. The lower was seemingly a worse area to be in, having fewer resources and more accidents, despite still being very good. The upper area was very rich in resources and had few to no accidents. There was a second layer of clouds higher up than the first layer. The second layer's clouds had a color similar to a combination of ruby red, crimson red, light gray, and white. The second layer slowly dissipated into a memory.
The Rooftops[]
The Rooftops is a section on Level 385 below the cloud level. It has the appearance of an ordinary city; however, anything below any building's 5th floor is nonexistent; falling onto it leads to the Void. The colors, heights, and other characteristics of the buildings vary. It is constantly raining or cloudy on the Rooftops. All of the apartments are deserted, with white walls of concrete and wooden floors. Fluorescent lightbulbs illuminate the apartments. Several pieces of furniture, including chairs, tables, and other commodities, may be encountered in small quantities throughout the buildings.
The Rooftops also experience frequent storms, which approximately occur every two days. The likelihood of lightning striking a wanderer increases significantly on the Rooftops. Resources found within the buildings include almond water and Greek Fire. The apartments possess access to electricity, technology, and the internet. Pyroamobs may rarely be found in this region. Small, abandoned ranches can be found; they were cultivated by wanderers who ended up in the area. Because of a lack of maintenance, the plants died out; however, they are still growing as of now, with the majority reaching roughly 10 meters tall. The Rooftops are packed with potentially harmful traps, yet none of them can kill a person. Several bridges connect the various buildings, but the majority have been destroyed. Reportedly, escaping the Rooftops is an almost impossible task, as the only way to exit the region would be by traversing through the clouds and returning to the towers. As of the region's discovery in 1966, only two wanderers have successfully escaped.
The Altures[]
The Altures are a section of Level 385 located thousands of miles up in the sky. As one goes up to the level, the sky becomes darker; once the sky is completely black, they have reached the Altures. The Altures contain no resources. The true appearance of the Altures is unknown, considering the region is remarkably dark, as are all of the pictures. However, it is believed that the Altures are identical to the remaining of this level but dark. It is also hypothesized that if skyscrapers exist in this section, they are likely to be highly unstable and fall frequently. There may be entities in the Altures; however, since neither the M.E.G. nor any other group has released information, it's likely none exists. There is little to no information regarding this area of Level 385, and some strongly believe it never existed in the first place. Many believe that wanderers may fall off the Altures due to confusion, lack of vision and reference points, or entity attacks at some point, as most pictures of the Altures are blurry, indicating the photographer were falling while taking the pictures. Another strong piece of evidence is the fact that most wanderers who have entered the Altures have never come back. A number of wanderers and M.E.G. scientists assume the Altures may have been a consequence of The Flicker, which would explain the vast darkness present and strange entity-like sounds heard by wanderers who explored the Altures.
The Skyward Line[]
The Skyward Line, or S.L. for short, is a rare section of Level 385. It can be accessed thrugh the Rooftops, by encountering a balcony and waiting 30 minutes for it to fade into the Skyward Line. The Skyward Line takes on the appearance of a small space between various windows and an extensive net. The space is roughly 43 centimeters in width and extends infinitely in length. The ceiling, wall, and floor are composed of white concrete and paperstone arranged into a pattern of squares. The net is held by various small metal hooks. The start of the Skyward Line seems to be surrounded by a dense forest, with various buildings and hills seen around the forest. As one traverses through the Skyward Line, the forest and buildings begin to slowly fade away into a blue sky with dense clouds. The windows on the Skyward Line, different from an ordinary window, seem fully blue, and everything behind them cannot be seen. The windows also cannot be opened; any attempts to do so have been proven useless.
According to research, the Skyward Line contains more oxygen, which improves respiratory efficiency. Puddles of almond water can be encountered occasionally along the Skyward Line. Other resources may be encountered throughout the region. In the Skyward Line, one's health appears to be boosted for unknown reasons. Effects like Tower Confusion do not occur on the Skyward Line. Time moves slowly in this region, with a week on the remaining of Level 385 being equivalent to three weeks on the Skyward Line. The Skyward Line does not have an average day-night cycle; instead, there is a period known as Skivarde. Skivarde's sky is a vibrant blend of dodger, azure, and ultramarine blues. Very few clouds are seen in the sky, with only two appearing per S.L. week. The light is a very light blue, almost white. As of 2024, the only two known ways to exit the Skyward Line are by ripping the net and jumping off; this will lead to the Rooftops, The Skyward Line can also be exited by crawling too far, possibly leading to a random tower, being the only way to traverse from one tower to another; however, this is very infrequent.
Entities[]
As of the explorations of Level 385 from 1989 to 2002, no entities exist within the level. Although various theorists, scientists, and researchers have created theories that affirm other friendly or harmful entities may exist among Level 385, very few areas in Level 385 have any resources to prove the existence of entities, with the only items found being eaten food, dead cells, and small bones. Most theories propose the existence of friendly entities, as there are no records of deaths by attack, while only one proposes a harmful entity. A theory proposed the existence of Entity 72.3 within Level 385; however, that is yet to be confirmed.
"Entity" 119: "Graphs"[]
ENTITY NO. 119
THREAT LEVEL
2

The Graphs are presumably friendly entities that are found on certain buildings on the Rooftops. They supposedly resemble simple drawings of diverse objects with stick limbs, such as objects within the Backrooms, daily Frontrooms objects, etc. The drawings represented by the Graphs are always lacking a filling in and are in a cute, modern, stylized style. Graphs can shift forms from object to object to camouflage. They are swift and intelligent. Graphs can be domesticated by feeding them Cashew Water. Graphs reportedly will attack anything that poses harm to the humans who domesticate them. Graphs can presumably be killed by using an eraser. The average Graph is around 21 centimeters tall and 19 centimeters wide.
Entity 387: "Fake Birds"[]
ENTITY NO. 387
THREAT LEVEL
3
Habitat:
Level 385
Aggression: 2/5
Attacks to hunt
Intellect: 3/5
Problem solving ability
Danger: 4/5
Life-threatening
Entity 387, also known as "Fake Birds", or "False Birds" are reportedly friendly entities on Level 385. They take on the appearance of vantablack birds, lacking eyes or facial expressions. They fly across Level 385, searching for nourishment. Fake Birds often steal food from any living being, crates, and other Fake Birds in extreme cases. Fake Birds. Entity 387's main habitat supposedly is primarily the Rooftops and the towers. Fake Birds reportedly can create rain and storms in Level 385, which would explain the rain on the Rooftops. Fake Birds also clone themselves once a decade, which would explain the many sightings of this entity. According to various reports, Fake Birds can also produce the sound of any bird, normally producing the sound of a bird that may be familiar to the wanderer.
M.E.G. Level 385 Research Log #12: "Fake Birds"
"19th of November, 2023. All of the myths were true, such an interesting entity, they can multiply so rapidly! How did we not see? We captured 13 specimens of Fake Birds, 7 alive, and the remaining dead. We will research the Fake Birds for a long time, this is just the start. with this confirmation, maybe Graphs exist? Perhaps..."
"3rd of January 2024. Ugh, we can't find ANYTHING! What is taking us so long?! Maybe, researcher Gary was right, maybe we should leave this behind, it's just a black bird after all..."
"March 4th, 2024, we have gathered enough information to prove Fake Birds are not native, nor exclusive to Level 385... Goddamn it. Turns out... They aren't just black birds, huh? They are more, not much more, simply... More."
"Entity" 162: "The Guiders"[]
ENTITY NO. 162
THREAT LEVEL
2
Habitat:
Level 385
Aggression: 1/5
Attacks if threatened
Intellect: 5/5
Surpasses human IQ
Danger: 1/5
Causes minimal harm
Entity 162, known as "Guiders", are theorized entities found within Level 385 sparsely; they presumably will lead wanderers in Level 385 to the closest groups, resources, and exits. If angered, a Guider may attack wanderers or push them off of a tower. Once a Guider has finished its task and helped a number of wanderers, it will evaporate and generate oxygen. According to rumors, Guiders take on the appearance of white humanoid beings with a lack of facial features and fingers. Guiders also have hats composed of wheat. Guiders have a skin composed primarily of rubber. Guiders also reportedly attack anything in their way to help wanderers.
The Cloud of Level 385[]
ENTITY NO. [UND]
THREAT LEVEL
4
Habitat:
Level 385
Aggression: 5/5
Hostile to all entities
Intellect: 2/5
Low-level intellect
Danger: 4/5
Life-threatening
"The Cloud of Level 385", is a highly aggressive theorized entity in Level 385; it supposedly causes floods and heavy storms; it can cause lightning to appear anywhere it wishes; and the Cloud can also fly around the level according to the Cloud theory. It takes the appearance of a large, darkened, ominous cloud. It inhabits the Rooftops. Little to nothing is known about this entity, and it is most likely to be false.
Colonies and Outposts[]
Among Level 385's landscapes, various colonies, and outposts may be found across the towers of Level 385. In Level 385, there are approximately more than 1009 outposts across the towers. The most known outposts will be listed below:
The Breakdown[]
Description[]
The Breakdown is an authoritarian group of roughly 20.000 people on Tower Kalan, which can be found in the northern areas of Level 385. It was formed in 1962 by John Belkeper and Dmitry Agapov, along with three other wanderers. The group's original objective was to survive and collect nourishment; over time, as the first members died, the sole purpose of the group became expansion, and this led to a total collapse of the outpost, with many leaving to join other outposts; many died or left the level. As of 2024, the Breakdown is a strong, very authoritarian, and unsecure outpost in Level 385, with many executions happening daily. Those who do not abide by the strict laws of the Breakdown will be sent to the Altures, to be likely never seen again. The Breakdown has significant control over Level 385. They originally would accept wanderers and offer assistance, trade with others, and take others towards exits; however, as time passed, as stated above, the group turned authoritarian, and members could no longer leave the group, or else they may be killed. The Breakdown has large access to technology, wood, and stone. Medical help is very widespread and advanced in the Breakdown, despite its conditions. The Breakdown's members may occasionally hand excellent information and tips to passing-by wanderers on exits, entities, regions, etc.
M.E.G. Troubled Towers Outpost #1: "Lunaland"[]
Description[]
The M.E.G. Troubled Towers Outpost #1, more commonly known as Lunaland by the inhabitants of Level 385, is an outpost on Level 385 created for studies. Lunaland is home to over four thousand people. M.E.G. scientists regularly enter this outpost to study the anomalies of this level, including how the four pillars can hold all the towers, the Altures, the presumed entities, the Sudden Unrealism, Towering Blocks, and Tower Confusion, among other events. There is not much information regarding this outpost due to the M.E.G. attempting to keep most information confidential. This outpost has a wide availability of Wi-Fi and technology. Most of the population is composed of workers: doctors, lawyers, guards, firefighters, etc. Lunaland only offers almond water and regular water to wanderers; new members are not accepted unless they are members of the M.E.G. Previously, this outpost had a poor HDI; as of now, it is the outpost with the largest HDI in Level 385. The currency of this outpost is the dollar, making it one of the few outposts to use money from the Frontrooms. Lunaland has active contact with the remaining M.E.G., unlike several other outposts. Members of this outpost will frequently attempt to make visitors leave the level as quickly as possible by lying; according to members, they want time and focus.
O.L.A.B. Base Kırmızı[]
Description[]
O.L.A.B. Base Kırmızı is the organizations main base in the Backrooms. Existing on Tower Kırmızı in the Rooftop zone; it is home to a population of approx. 10k members. It is friendly to most wanderers. This base exists as this level is considered as the safest non-occupied level to exist in the Backrooms by the group. It can be located by noticing the building flying a yellow flag with the Ottoman insignia on it 24/7. The base has several amenties; such as Wi-Fi and technology; similar to the M.E.G. base above. The currency for this outpost is the Lira, joining M.E.G. in being the only other outpost to use Frontrooms currency.
The People of the Sandwich Tower[]
Description[]
The People of the Sandwich Tower are a relatively unknown colony with around 300 inhabitants, and information regarding them is almost nonexistent in the Backrooms Database. It is known that the People of the Sandwich Tower are an Oceanic tribe formed in 2019. They have a religion named Torrism. The PST believes there is only one tower in all of Level 385, that being the tower they inhabit, named "Tower Paoalface" and all other towers are false. The People of the Sandwich Tower are barbaric; they do not understand technology, resulting in an attack on all who have the technology. The People of the Sandwich Tower have a very scarce source of nourishment and water, with only a few kilograms being produced every three months. This group is known for various cannibalistic acts and strange rituals, as well as public beatings and executions. Another feature of this group is their nomadic behavior; once resources end in an area, they migrate lower or higher.
The League of Farmers[]
Description[]
The League of Farmers is a relatively new outpost present within Level 385, formed on March 8th, 2018 by several American and Brazilian farmers. The League of Farmers has a total population of roughly 3000 inhabitants. With an agricultural-based economy, this outpost thrives in the southeastern areas of the Rooftops. The population of this outpost proudly produces a large amount of vegetables and other nourishment. Most of this outpost's population is the cause of the giant plants on the Rooftops. The League of Farmers is a highly unstable outpost, with its northernmost and easternmost regions wanting to separate into their own respective colonies. The League of Farmers is one of the outposts with the least food-lacking periods and poverty, with most members being relatively rich due to their crops.
Entrances and Exits[]
Entrances:[]
- No-clipping in the off-colored black pillars will allow one to reach Level 385 from Levels 0-100.
- The most common entrance to Level 385 is no-clipping through drawings of objects in several levels between 50-70.
- Jumping off a building's rooftop on Level 11.
- Experiencing Sudden Unrealism in levels has a 23% chance of leading one to Level 385.
- Sighting Fake Birds on other levels may be a sign of a sudden entrance to this level.
- Jumping off a window in Level 996.
- Drinking a soda named "Tower's" on Level 993.
- Piercing through Level 488's cloudscape may lead one here.
Exits:[]
- Entrances to a myriad of other Backrooms levels are encountered frequently on the floors of Level 385.
- Falling off a tower will lead to the Void.
- If a tower collapses, all wanderers, entities, and objects present in the tower at the moment of the collapse will be sent to Level 84.
- Staring at a window on the Rooftops for 4 hours straight may cause the window to become an exit to Level 993.
- Going too up in Level 385, however not enough to reach the Altures, has a 1.7% chance of leading to Level 74.
- Mistakenly no-clipping into a painting of a hill in the Rooftops will lead to Level 382.
