Description
A typical area found within Level 389.
Level 389 is a level deep within the Backrooms. It appears similar to a station in the London Underground in form and design. However, unlike the finite structure of a Tube station, it is non-linear, much like Level 0. Various areas of the station appear to reflect different architectural styles of the real-world Underground, with a significant difference being that in place of advertisement posters, there are large, empty panels of various sizes and colours. No text appears to be written on any signs that would typically be within a station, nor are there any trains that pass through. There are areas that resemble train platforms, connecting tunnels, and ticket halls with escalator access. The escalators are never activated, and the ticket halls are noted as having no windows, or natural light of any kind. Any doors in these ticket halls are locked shut with no discovered way to bypass them.
It does not appear to be connected in any way to The Metro, and no services that will take you to other levels pass through the level itself. Although they do not appear so, the rails of each track are live, and will cause severe electric shock. In the level, one will occasionally come across kiosks that are locked from the outside. They will be stocked with food and drinks, but can only be accessed by breaking their locks with force, or finding the correct key to enter, although this is extremely unlikely if a small amount of time is spent in this level.

Colonies and Outposts
There are currently two colonies and one outpost located on this level:
The Shopkeepers
Gas mask given to an explorer by a member of The Shopkeepers.
Description
The Shopkeepers are a small clan of settlers on Level 389 and its sub-level, 389a. They are a friendly race of human settlers of various ages and ethnicities, and can be found throughout the level, guarding the food kiosks and offering trades. They will often be seen hiding some, or all of their faces, with masks, scarves or gas masks. Some accounts have reported the Shopkeepers as intimidating in appearance. A constant between the Shopkeepers is their hardened nature, and many of them are heavily built and quite tall.
They generally trade, and offer generous gifts to passers by. They have been documented to give the following:
- Almond Water;
- Food from the Frontrooms, such as candy. It is unknown where the source of these foods is, and it is theorised that the kiosks will automatically summon these foods.
- Soft drinks such as Pepsi. This can be used to make Almond Cream.
- Tickets and Travel Passes. These can be used to prevent attacks from the Train Guards, which can also be found on Level 389.
The Train Guards
- Can be found walking the tunnels between areas of this level.
- When approached, they will ask for a valid ticket or permit to travel. These can be found in ticket office areas of the level, but it is possible to bribe these guards with supplies such as food, Almond Water and significant relics.
- If one fails to either show their ticket, or bribe one of the Train Guards, they can become angry, and often times hostile. It is recommended not to engage these settlers if you come across them.
The Backroom Colonists
They currently control a tube line that is planned to have level teleporters to certain levels. They also maintain the main tube from spawning areas. You can find their trains running in to the main tube network as they are usually cyan and air conditioned. At each platform, are multiple places where you can also buy a newspaper, buy a hotdog or go to the toilet if needed.
They also allow trading and are friendly.
Entrances
- This level has many entrances; opening ordinary doors in many Levels, excluding Level 0 has a small chance of leading to Level 389.
- One is able to get to this level by noclipping in Level 1.
- One can also enter this level by entering the number "0389" on the number pad in Level 1051.
Exits
- By no-clipping, you can leave the level. This will always take you to Level 1.
- Certain doors will transport you to a random level.
- By entering a tunnel leading away from a platform area, you will often be able to access the sub-level, Level 389a.
