Description

An optimized section of Level 389a's tunnels.

Level 389a consists of an immense network of tunnels connected dubiously to Level 389. They are very dark, and require a light source to properly navigate, especially considering the electrified rails that are present on the ground everywhere on the Level. Upon contact with these rails, a severe electric shock will be induced, which can result in death. There is also a much higher level of Entities on this level when compared to its parent level, Level 389. There are no trains that travel along the tracks on this Level, much like Level 389. However, unlike Level 389, there are far fewer sources of food and water. Some areas of this level are optimized for safety and travel, with lights installed, and members of the Shopkeepers present to guard these areas from Entities.

Entities

There are more Entities confirmed on this level:

  • Breathing in dust or soot from surfaces within this Level can lead to The Disease.
  • There are a large number of large and aggressive rats on this level, dubbed Flesh Rats by explorers. They will attempt to bite and maim victims on sight. They have been documented as being up to 22 inches long, without their tail.
  • There have been reports of Facelings, both aggressive and passive.

Colonies and Outposts

  • A large number of the Shopkeepers have migrated to Level 389a. They have optimized certain areas for travel by installing lights and keeping armed guard posts.
  • A smaller group, known as the Blind Shopkeepers, has asserted themselves here. Blind Shopkeepers appear like the Shopkeepers, but wear blindfolds, and act aggressively if approached.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

  • By entering a tunnel in Level 389, and passing around a corner or bend in the tunnel, you will enter Level 389a.
  • There are no other confirmed ways to enter Level 389a.

Exits

  • In areas of Level 389a that have been optimized, doors in the walls of the tunnels can lead to other Levels, including Level 0, The Hub, and back to Level 389.
  • Finding a tunnel opening can also lead you back to Level 389.
