Description[]

Level 405, otherwise known as "Running in the 90s", takes place in a 90s electronics shop. The shop itself appears to be infinite. Most of the electronics turn on and are fully functional. The layout of this level constantly changes, and it's impossible to map your location. Locating other wanderers is also difficult as compasses and other equipment don't function properly. The electronics on the level are much different than electronics from reality. They often don't seem to need power and seem to be able to operate even without a motherboard.

Level 405

The level seems to have a day-night cycle of sorts. The "day" on the level lasts for 12 hours. During this period no entities can spawn and wanderers can meet up. The level's night lasts for 24 hours, and the level becomes infested with entities. During the nighttime period, wanderers cannot see or hear each other. Also during this time, it is impossible to see anything even with a flashlight. Because of this Level 6 effect, many wanderers who end up here by accident never make it out.

Because it is impossible to see during the level's night, what entities inhabit this level is unknown.

Computers[]

The level is full of computers and other electronics. They all seem to run a command prompt-based operating system. The files on the computers are mostly random jumbles of letters and symbols. But sometimes a .pdf with information about random levels may show up. Opening these files sends the wanderer who opens it to the level the pdf is about. Trying to install other operating systems on these computers will result in the computer exploding due to unknown means.

TVs[]

Another common object in this level are TVs. The TVs display footage of different levels. Even an older version of itself appears. Noclipping into a TV will send you to whatever level is currently being played. Noclipping to the older version of the level will send you to the void instead of the old level 405.

Radios[]

The most common device at this level is radios. These radios constantly play a beeping sound and the sound gets louder the closer you are to an entity. Trying to noclip into one will send you to the void unless you hear static.

Floppy Discs[]

One of the main ways to locate other wanderers is by using floppy discs. These objects when plugged into a computer show a compass that points towards the closest wanderer.

Walkie Talkies[]

One of the most dangerous objects in this level are the Walkies Talkies. Attempting to use one of these will cause a loud static and attempting to turn it off will cause the wanderer to be pulled into the Walkies Talkie. It's unknown where one is sent to.

"The Real World"[]

The Real World was the nickname given to the areas between the main part of the level and the Simulation Rooms. This part of the level has no ceiling. These areas can range from 1 to 10 miles long. They consist of gray clouds and concrete flooring.

Simulation Rooms[]

Simulation Rooms are rooms randomly placed around the level. These rooms can be accessed by walking through exit doors to get to The Real World and entering a small pod. A simulation is selected on a computer, showing all documented levels. Attempting to Noclip out of a simulation will send you to one of the simulated level's exits, instead of one of 405s. When exiting a simulation room all the entities in the simulation can exit the room as well. Shutting off a simulation room while a wander is in the simulation room adds one to the simulation. When the simulation is restarted the wanderer is still in it but cannot leave.

SimRooms

One must walk far out to find a simulation room

Sub-areas[]

Sub-areas are sections of the level that do not follow the rules of the main level. If a subject tries to noclip into a door they can be sent to one of 3 sub-areas.

Memory Lane:[]

Memory Lane as the name implies, is a reconstruction of places one has been to in the past. To be more specific, places in the backrooms one has been to. Like the rest of the level, this area is mostly empty. Memory Lane is covered in a thick fog. Trying to return to previous positions in this section will usually cause you to end up in a completely different set of rooms.

The Library:[]

The Library is massive as implies, consisting of books that detail the lives of people who have fallen victim to the level. The Library can look completely different depending on the person. It usually manifests as a library from one's childhood, but always takes the form of how it looked/would look in the 1990s.

The Gates:[]

The Gates are a pair of 2 gates side by side. They seem to be locking entrances to levels not yet to be discovered. It is impossible to climb over these gates and there appears to be no way to open them.

To exit these sub-areas one must Noclip out of them on any surface.

Entities[]

Since it is impossible to see during the night hours its unknown what inhabits the level.

Colonies and Outposts[]

There are no colonies or outposts on this level due to the fact it is impossible so see during the night.

Entrances[]

- Noclip back into reality from any level in a dream to get sent here

- Find a door labeled 405 on any level

- Enter a electronics shop in Level 11

Exits[]

- Open a Level#.pdf and be sent to the level it lists

- Noclip into a TV to be sent to whatever level the TV is showing
