Level 449 is the 450th level of the Backrooms.
Contents
Description
Level 449 appears to be a standard Washington State commercial ferry with seemingly no ports for departure nor arrival (meaning it moves, but never docks.) The liquid it floats on is salinated Almond Water, thus it must be purified before consumption. However, the cafeteria contains aforementioned drink, as well as pretzels, powdered doughnuts, energy bars, and other sustenances.
The speed of the ferry is usually approximately 50 m/h (80.5 k/h), but can randomly speed up to 75 m/h (120.7 k/h) or slow down to 25 m/h (40.2 k/h). These fluctuations are subtle and unnoticed by Wanderers, unless one actively measures speed. Fluctuations are also not harmful and they won't knock items or Wanderers off the boat.
The intercom system is fully functional and occasionally plays voice recordings. These recordings have no real meaning and are often unintelligible. The M.E.G. has stated that the recordings contain random words, but don't know where they may have come from. A popular theory suggests that Mikeal (described below) might listen to Wanderers and put what he heard into a "database".
Entities
Level 449 is technically a Class 3 Level, due to the amount of hostile entities. However, the entities are on shore and unable to harm any Wanderers. These entities are Hounds, Smilers, and rarely, Skin-Stealers. There's only 1 entity on the ferry itself, which is an adult Faceling who goes by the name of Mikeal (though he has also gone by Kevin, Rich, and Devin). Mikeal operates the cafeteria and is the only non-aggressive entity in Level 449.
Colonies and Outposts
The Ferryists
- Brings in Wanderers if they offer Almond Water;
- Current smallest Backrooms colony with only 7 members;
- Hidden below Level 449's boiler rooms;
- Anonymous leader;
- Said leader supposedly has a "key to the Frontrooms" but won't describe anything about it.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
There are only 2 known ways of entering Level 449.
- Walk down a set of stairs in Level 11 with your eyes closed until you hit the floor. Open your eyes to see if you entered Level 449. If not, repeat the process going up the stairs.
- Do the same as above in an elevator in any Level.
Exits
Similarly, there are only 2 ways to leave Level 449.
- Jump into the water. You will be seamlessly transported to Level 7.
- Throw yourself into a Window either at the front or rear dock. This has a 1 in 10,000,000 chance to send you to The Hub or Level 4.
