Description
Level 439 is a completely peaceful area for relaxing, being a giant laundromat with multitudes of functional washing machines lining the walls and stacked on top of each other. The ceiling is tiled, with bright lights that seemingly never go out, and a lone camera watches over the occupants. It is unsure why this camera exists, and we are unable to recover its footage. Many doors, all entrances and exits into specific levels, are scattered around the level, and wanderers can frequently be seen entering and exiting through them. People come in here to wash their clothes, have short chats, and prepare for future journeys. It's a social hangout; people from all over, with all kinds of experience in the Backrooms, come here to congregate.
The detergent, fabric softener, bleach, and other items constantly restock themselves, seemingly automatically. Curiously, the reserves drain as usual when people are in the room, but when after every wanderer exits the level and the doors are all closed, the items seemingly refill after a minute. In addition, any stain on the ground and damage done to the washing machines disappears during this process. The doors are locked during this time and cannot be opened, and it is unclear as to why. Every once in a while, when it is deemed that the level is short on a specific item, the overseers generally request that everyone exit the laundromat before closing the doors behind them so the items refill.
The washing machines in the level have some interesting qualities. It functions similar to a regular washing machine from The Frontrooms, but the clothes that come out appear to be completely dry. The stains also seem to be removed, and any damage done to the garment seemingly disappears. Any clothes put in the machines come out brand-new, no matter how tattered it was when you threw it in.
As it is attached directly to Level 11 and Level 9, Level 439 may frequently be crowded and all the washing machines may already be in use. Please respect your fellow wanderers and wait your turn. A few fights have broken out over disputes on who gets to use the washing machine first; luckily, we've gone a few months without an incident like this, and we would like it to stay that way.
Unsurprisingly, the level stays sparkly clean. However, it unusually has no microscopic organisms whatsoever. Not even a speck of bacteria. Any bacteria in the level was brought into it by the travelers and just disappears when the refill/repair process occurs.
Overall, a definite recommend. A 5-star laundromat.

Absolutely Great! 5-Star Review
We came to the laundromat to clean our ragged clothes! Wow! They look absolutely brand-new! I'll definitely recommend this to my friends!
One-of-a-kind! 5-Star Review
Ever since entering the Backrooms, I've always longed for a way to wash my clothes. Back when I was in normal reality, I would go to the laundromat every week to wash all my clothes for cheap prices. This laundromat tops it, however. It's free to use and gives your clothes an extra style factor!
Not what I saw on the adverts. 1-Star Review
How do I explain this? The magical refilling whatchamacallit? It's dangerous.
I don't want to waste your time, but I feel like my story needs to be heard, so buckle up. Unfortunately, this will shatter your entire view of this level, and you may never want to return to it again. This laundromat is not just a laundromat.
“Class 0” survival difficulty? “Safe”? The hell? I was almost killed here! My friend died here!
Alright, let's rewind back to July of 2019. We needed to wash our clothes, and it was my first time using this laundromat. My friend was a returner. It was completely empty; a lone overseer of the laundromat was sleeping on the job beside the Level 11 entrance. We entered and shut the door behind us. Big mistake.
Wonder how the level determines when to refill the supplies? The camera checks for movement and door closures. If the laundromat doors are closed and no movement is detected (as per usual when nobody is in the level), the refilling process starts. Of course, there's a cool-down in between each refill process. Otherwise, it would constantly repeat with no end in sight.
We unfortunately stood still while the doors were closed. And thus, my friend and I were caught in the refill process.
I'll describe it in detail.
The entire level collapsed, trying to destroy itself. Every washing machine door simultaneously flung open and started running, all automatically setting a 1:00 timer. The lights flickered, the fire alarm blared, the floor fell into some dark nothingness. It felt like a damn earthquake. I survived the 1989 Loma Pietra earthquake, but nothing could have prepared me for this. The floor was cracking and the structures were collapsing. We didn't know where the collapsed structures went, but we didn't want to find out.
We tried exiting through the doors. Go figure. They were locked.
However, I discovered that the washing machines had a faint light to them now. They were exits. Unfortunately, my friend was unable to make it. He fell into the vast pit of nothingness.
Meanwhile, I crawled through the long washing machine tunnel, and eventually ended back in Level 11 through an air ventilation system. I looked behind myself as the remaining pieces of the laundromat collapsed and broke down. I blinked, and suddenly, the laundromat reappeared in pristine condition, exactly how I entered it. I blinked again. The laundromat was no longer there, replaced by the wall of the air vent I was currently in.
Good lord.
Screw off. I'm sick and tired of your sh—[REDACTED For Inappropriate Language].
Colonies and Outposts
No known colony exists. There is only a rotating cycle of overseers who monitor the level and make sure nothing unruly happens.
Each overseer works a 3-hour shift, guarding the entrances and ensuring that refills happen when necessary.
