Level50-3

Level50

Path to Salvation
I continue to move down the interminable trail as thirst and starvation gradually set in. In the middle of a sweltering desert, my body is exhausted. I start to run out of vitality and stroll. Feel as though the impending death was concealed outside, within the vision-obscuring fog. There was an atmosphere of vivid thinking while walking through the continually paved asphalt road, exploring further. I realized it stood as a location of isolation for myself, the unfortunate existence of myself.”

Level 50, also known as "The Moribund Highway", is the current 51st level found in the Backrooms.

Description

The first known image of Level 50.

Level50-1

Level 50 is a seemingly infinite paved asphalt two-lane highway amid desert terrain, with the street stretching in both directions and indefinitely fading into the distance fog. Every step makes a little echo that adds to the impression of solitude, and the sound of the air blowing across the route slowly coating it with dust and sand. Every stride forward feels like a loop back in on itself, as no one knows what lies beyond. The path intersects once it has traveled a decent distance—around every mile or when the ascending path cannot continue in a straight line. The pathway is also known for having a non-euclidean temperament, which makes it exceedingly difficult to navigate or localize the level. Some intersections or roads themselves loop back to the beginning of the route, forcing wanderers to change lanes.

The highway lies in a frigid desert basin that lengthened much beyond the size of the actual route. As a representation of a wasteland, it has irregularly and elaborately flattened sands, as well as a mountain range that can be seen nearby from a great distance away. The descriptive information for the mountains is sparse since they frequently have hazardous environments and are demanding to scale. Except for the road and an electric pole that serves no use, there isn't much human infrastructure in the region. Plant life resembles that found in front rooms, including brittlebush, sagebrush, cologne, and other species. However, if one were to turn off the road, the desert would grow more arid and plantless, and the environment would become more hazardous.

Level50-2

Numerous vehicles without license plates rarely appear on the road. Numerous of them seem to be in a condition of time halting, and none are accurately parked as if time were to stop while they were moving. Although virtually all cars are locked, it is necessary to note that it is still feasible to get into them. Supplies and other necessities for survival are known to be inside. Traveling by vehicle becomes difficult at this level since the automobile may suffer damage and run out of gasoline due to long-term abandonment. Function cars can ease and smooth out a journey for the traveler regardless of whether it depends on luck, offer cover from the scorching air and brisk breeze, and serve as a place to rest while traveling.

The terrain is illuminated by constant light during the day without a cycle. Anyone present at this level will experience a variety of atmospheric conditions. The most common circumstance is sunny weather, which can raise temperatures to 38°C (simply over 100°F). Because of this, it is advised to stay on the path and in an operational vehicle. Almond water is also highly suggested due to the high temperature. The additional condition is foggy when the entire landscape is covered in fog that limits the range of vision. Although this state can cause the temperature to drop, it typically brings on a strong breeze that might nearly result in a storm.

Level50-3

Although the highway path is non-euclidean, there is a greater likelihood that you will come across other wanderers on your journey. Additionally, due to the heat and terrible weather, the bodies and bones of people can be found decomposing by the side of the road with the flesh torn off the bone. The idea of meeting and traveling with other wanderers may sound great, but the hazards of this level come from the stray people that walk the highway. Many unfortunate travelers tend to be hijacked and robbed while moving, with the hijackers often pointing out the car that the traveler is driving. Although individuals are rarely killed during robberies, victims sometimes die from a lack of livelihood supplies due to harsh weather or from wounds and blood loss during the fighting.

Much of this level remains unexplored, as there is only one way out. If one travels far enough, one could find a way out of this level by taking a route that leads to a petrol station amid the desert. The gas station and empty parking lots are in an abandoned state. Goods and supplies in gas station stores are frequently worthless and rotting owing to their perfect condition, leaving just a few items, including tinned food, batteries, flashlights, a crowbar, a bulletproof vest, and more. The exit is located in the back of the store and will take you to Level 51. In addition to having a single exit, one source reportedly claimed to have discovered a highway exit that appeared to go on for miles. Because the individual did not delve inside it, it is unknown what waits at the end, assuming one exists.

Radio Transmission, Log ID: 2472

The following is a radio transmission between an explorer name "Fritz Smith" and another explorer codename: “Ranger”

Open Log 2472 >
An audio cut occurs in the middle of the conversation as a car is being driven inside.

Fritz Smith: Woah. That was pretty terrible right?

Ranger: Indeed, but we've finally got to dry the car's air conditioner.

Fritz Smith: Thank god, but I hope it doesn't run out of gas too soon; we're still looking forward to the exit.

Ranger: I think I see, uhh. *long pause* I see... a person about 50 yards ahead.

Fritz Smith: Um... Where?

Ranger: He is waving at us.

Fritz Smith: Oh, hm... Are we going to pick him up?

Ranger: Er... *long pause* I'm not sure, fella, there's a lot of news on this level about people robbing and hijacking others.

Fritz Smith: Alright, your choice then.

Ranger: I'm uncertain if we should abandon him to continue wandering, though. He's just an average-looking guy, so maybe I'd do it.

Fritz Smith: Okay, be careful.

Ranger opened the car window.

A person: Oh, hey there!

Fritz Smith: Uh, Hello there! Are you looking for a ride?

A person: Yes, of course, it's pretty hot out here.

The voice becomes louder, as a person walks closer.

Ranger: You may enter.

A person: Thanks a lot!

Ranger: No problem.

A person opened the car door and sat in the back seat.

Fritz Smith: So you're looking for the exit, right? I've been stumbling around here for a few days now looking for a way out. It is sweltering outside, so it's a good thing we have this car.

A person: Oh surely. I’ve been here a while too.

Fritz Smith: Right. So you don’t know your way out either, Damn. Did you holed up someplace around here?

A person: Nah.

Fritz Smith: Well, *relieved sigh*, uh, oh goodness above, thank you. We almost left you there. I really hopped in’ You weren’t one of those people.

A person: Okay...

Fritz Smith: By the way, what is your name?

Silent.

Fritz Smith: I suppose you don't want to talk right now.

Ranger: I'm tired, so let's keep going and find an exit as soon as possible.

Silent for a while.

Sound of someone grabbing something.

Ranger: Uh, what was that?

A person quickly slit the Ranger's throat with a pocket knife.

Ranger: Ouch!

Fritz Smith: What the hell?

Ranger continued to scream for his life as a person repeatedly stabbed him in the neck with a knife.

Fritz Smith: Hey! Stop—

The car veered off the highway path as Fritz Smith engaged in combat with that individual.

Fritz Smith: What the hell are you doing—

A person: Give me your car!

Fritz Smith: No!

Fritz Smith push that person from the vehicle before continuing the fight.

A person: I guess, I have to kill you—

Fritz Smith quickly grabs a person's pocket knife and stabs his shoulder while he is falling and laying on the ground. A person's scream is audible.

Fritz Smith: Oh my god!

Fritz Smith quickly grabs his crowbar from the car.

A person: Please don't!

Fritz Smith repeatedly hits him on the head with a crowbar until he lying still. The person in question is assumed to be dead, and Fritz Smith gathered some objects from the dead body before getting back in the vehicle.

Fritz Smith: I can't believe I did this.

Fritz Smith then resumed driving, leaving the dead individual behind. Ranger, still seated in the vehicle, died because of blood loss from this incident.

Entities

There are few entities in Level 50 that are frequently seen in the desert further on. Even if the entities aren't the most dangerous thing on this level, it's still not an ideal choice to wander around the wasteland, especially when it's cloudy, because anything may be concealing inside the dense fog. Hounds and Skin-Stealers are the two currently known entities on Level 50.

Colonies And Outposts

There are no known colonies or outposts on this level.
