The first image of Level 513, showing a corridor of aquariums filled with all kinds of life, illuminated by neon lights.
Level 513, also commonly referred as the "Synthwave Aquascape", is a seemingly infinite underwater aquarium with a synth-wave aesthetic. Some corridors containing windows rather than exhibits shows that at least a vast majority of sections in Level 513 is entirely submerged under a body of water of unknown depth, classified as an endless expanse of ocean and sea, which by any means cannot be explored with current technology whatsoever. Furthermore, due to the similar "vaporwave/synthwave" atmosphere, the level is currently suspected to be connected to Level 514 in some way, and thus is designated as Level 513.
When a wanderer noclips into the level, they will be met with complete darkness for around 30 seconds until various neon lights mounted along the walls and edges would slowly flicker to life, casting an ethereal glow over the whole level. Because of this occurrence, the level is frequently mistaken as Level 6 before the lights light up, since the darkness within Level 513 is quite abnormal, rendering any brought in light source such as flashlights useless. The neon lights, however, seem to be completely ordinary and behave identically to any standard light source, meaning it should be unable to clear up the darkness; yet, it does so effortlessly, which is another anomalous property of said level.
Other than its synth-wave asethetic, the way and style of the facility resembles that of a advanced futuristic aquarium, featuring a wide variety of standard essentials that can be seen at any regular aquarium from The Frontrooms, such as fish tank exhibits of many sizes, unique and abstract displays and sections containing detailed information of aquatic-themed topics, mainly on sub-aquatic nature and marine life. It should be noted that the exhibits do contain real marine life, but seemingly with slight altercations (see Entities). The unique feature making Level 513 stand out is the notable consistency of various neon lights adorning the walls of each corridor, accompanied by a rather dark and gloomy color palette, making the atmosphere in Level 513 feel both very liminal and surreal.
The overall structure of the level is majorly unmapped due to its environment being non-Euclidean in nature. Wanderers can be easily lost here and should have caution upon exploring Level 513 due to this. Furthermore, no wanderer has ever claimed nor reported meeting any other wanderers in the facility alongside them, which can indicate the possible isolative properties the level possesses, similarly to Level 0. However, it is possible that no wanderer have met any other simply due the titanic size of level 513.
The level's passageways usually consists of enormous, currently uncountable amount of tunnel-like structures which frequently overlap each other in all directions, accompanied by glass walls either showing the outside or the exhibits. Since the exhibts are transparent, it can allow one to see interconnecting tunnels alongside other fish, making for a majestic sight.
There are no confirmed entities in the corridors of Level 513, but wanderers have consistently reported seeing a variety of fish swimming in the exhibits with minor altercations. The marine life seems to have a distinctive tint which fits with the synthwave asethetic of Level 513, with a color palette of pinks, purples, and cyans. Furthermore, they also possess a shiny and unavoidable glimmer across their scales and body. Wanderers have reported to describe them as mesmerizing and beautiful, similar to the Shapelings encountered in many wanderer's dreams. Their movement also seems to relax and ease tension, sometimes even making wanderers fall asleep.
While most fish only have changes in their skin, new species of fish have been found in larger exhibits. These can range from all sorts of kinds, such "Nail-Headed Sharks," being similar to hammerhead sharks, yet by the name, have long, slim and sharp heads resembling that of a needle and a set of sharp razor teeth featured across their lower head, or "Neon Whales," being whales sized to be larger than normal blue whales (300m long) covered in a radioactive neon substance to scare off predators.
Alongside these, one can occasionally encounter large tablets placed in front of an aquarium containing detailed and extensive information regarding the fish featured within the aquarium, such anatomical structure, defense mechanisms, body composition, history detailing first initial discovery, and such. However, upon conducting extensive research into said "discoveries" of these fish, no matter how authentic they really seemed, none of the individuals mentioned nor any of the presumed storyline which led to its discovery truly happened, and is entirely made-up information.
Surprisingly, any corridors with windows that shows the endless expanse of the ocean is seemingly lifeless, as there have not been a single wanderer report of seeing entities outside of the exhibits.
Due to the level's isolative properties, no colonies nor outposts can be successfully established as of now.
An exploration video was recorded by a well-known explorer called Lance. While the video has not been released, a text log showing the events has been uploaded to the database.
[Camera is seen recording the surroundings]
Lance: Lance here, I've been here for a few hours and I could roughly make out what's happening around me. I am in a big aquarium. Looks like the one that my parents brought me to back in Los Angeles, except it is seemingly infinite in all directions, and much more, how can I put it, futuristic? I have been walking in here for so long! One thing I noticed here is there is air conditioning here. This is cool. Get it? Cause the air conditioners are- Okay, I need to work on my sense of humor. Anyways, this place is quite chill. Get it? Nevermindโฆ
[A few minutes pass by]
Lance: It seems like my camera does not lose any battery here. Strange, but I appreciate it. I'm getting thirsty and I can't find any water aside from half submerged corridors. Breaking the exhibit tanks drinking wouldn't be decent either, God knows how much fish shit is in there. Maybe there is a canteen somewhere around, preferably almond water? Closing the Camera for now, I'll update on the situation when I find something to drink.
[Footage of Lance moving around for about another 40 minutes]
Lance: Okay, I could not find any supplies here. This is bad...
[Camera pans around]
Lance: Wait! THANK GOD! It is a vending machine! Finally, plenty of benches and tables here too. This is something similar to a cafe. Oh, I am saved!
[Camera placed on one of the benches while Lance is trying to make the vending machines work]
Lance: How do I buy stuff from it? Oh, I see. What is this? Just click this button. And then I need to insert my fingerprint? And how does that work? Well, whatever. I was so thirsty that I could drink a pond of water.
[Vending machine whirrs]
Machine: Not enough credits left! Automatically hypothecating items from your inventory! *Beep* Purchase complete!Thank you for your purchase!
Lance: Wait, what? What did I pay for the almond water? Is this one of those machines that take away your stuff in exchange for its contents? Let me check if my stuff is still in my bag.
[Searching noises]
Lance: Damn it! I think I just lost my pen. It was with me for like five years! Well, at least I did not lose my kidneys or something. And wow, this is a large bottle. It could last for a few days. Well, I guess losing the pen was worthwhile. Interesting, its a limited edition almond water... anyways, let's get out of here as soon as possible.
[Sounds of Lance walking towards the camera and picking it up.]
Here we go! Wait. There are two paths other than the ones I came from. One is straightforward, while the other one is leading downโฆ Iโm taking the forward one. Maybe if my altitude is high enough, I could find an exit to this place. And if there isโฆ I will surely revisit this place one day.
[Walking a few minutes]
Lance: Wow, these fish look weird. Let me see what they are called, there is some information in English on a tablet.
[Camera lowers, showing a stationary digital tablet placed on top of a pesdestal]
Lance: Nail-Headed Minisharks, thats a straightforward name. They reside in Level 7, so they are a kind of undiscovered species? Well, its either these boards are talking bullshit or the Colonists and the M.E.G. dudes are wrong. Look at this shark variant, they look creepy yet goofy. I'll read the rest of info tablet.
[Camera turns to the minisharks, *Lance clears throat*]
"They swim at extremely high speeds and penetrate their prey with ease and will absorb the prey's blood using their long mouth. The species is currently near-extinct due to the threat imposed by another foreign invasive species: Tail Parasites. This invasive species invades the tail of almost every fish and emits a toxin to paralyze them, then slowly consuming the fish with digestive enzymes."
[Lance laughs]
Lance: Now that just took Backrooms biology to the next level if they were true! Even with the current M.E.G. technologies, no full biology of an entity has been documented on Level 7. Maybe if I report this place to the M.E.G., I will be rewarded for finding this place! But now I need to find the exit first.
[Silence for a few more minutes]
Lance: Another interesting species! Look! It is so huge! I swear it's larger than the skyscrapers! Thank god I don't have Megalophobia, heard of a backroom colonist member going insane in level 39! Scary shit. Wait another tablet! I'll read the information...
[Lance takes a gulp of almond water]
Lance: โNeon Whales are mammals known to be extremely hazardous to humanity due to their radioactive properties. It is known that the radioactive substance on the surface of their skin causes the beautiful, vivid lighting on them. However, a human should never attempt to go near them, as the radioactive ray emission is lethal to humans. Despite this, the whale is seemingly docile. The neon whales inhabit any large water bodies in the Backrooms with groups of ten or above and have no natural enemy since the radiation kills all living tissue around them. They carry out photosynthesis and do not require any food source.โ
[Camera turns to the whale]
Lance: My god, I swear this creature is at least 300 meters in length! Yet it looks small because it is so far away! The most dazzling fish- I mean mammal, I have ever seen! Look at that breathtaking green glow it has! Although there is only one of them, it is shocking enough. Makes me wonder, do the fish in here replenish themselves spontaneously? Do they not have a lifespan at all? Does anyone work here and take care of them? I haven't seen an entity in the corridors yet. Well, I guess those will remain unanswered.
[A few minutes later]
Lance: I've been wandering here for a long time... How do I- Oh wait, nevermind, I think that's it.
[Camera goes blank, as Lance is reportedly sent to Level 514]
Entrances
Main Entrance: Noclipping at Level 399.
Exits
Wanderers have been confirmed to exit this level; however attempts to imitate such exits have failed. Thus, random no-clippage is the only orthodox way of leaving the level.
