Level 5942 is the 5943rd level of the Backrooms.
Description
Level 5942 is an expansive household area containing the typical rooms of a house. Every floor in the house is covered in a slightly moist, green carpet. The liquid has been determined to be Almond Water, and is safe to drink aside from mild headaches. Each room has the typical things of that room, but more empty. For example, the kitchens are mostly empty, but all contain between 2 and 6 bottles of almond water. In every other room, there is a timer counting down.
The Timer
The first known photo of Level 5942, showing one of the "hiding places".
When the timer reaches zero seconds, zero minutes, and zero hours, every light heavily dims, and the "hiding places" close. Entities will begin to appear during this time in massive swarms. Some of the documented entities to appear here are Skin-Stealers, Smilers, and Death Moths (male and female), but it is theorized that there are more species of entities here. The entities cannot get into the hiding places, and it is recommended that you find one of them and hide when the timer is close to zero. The timer stays at zero for approximately 5 minutes, where it then returns to counting, starting with one less minute than the last count. Alternatively, if you happen to not be able to reach a hiding spot, hiding behind objects or in places is a good alternative. Due to the dimmed lights, the entities have a harder time seeing, and you may get out unscathed. It is still heavily advised to get to a hiding place, though.
Hiding Places
Inside one of the hiding places of Level 5942.
The hiding places are large and mostly empty bunker-like structures, containing mostly chairs and sofas. The lights in here do not turn off when the timer hits zero, and instead glow a light green color. When the timer hits zero, several bottles of Almond Water will appear on top of the one table in each hiding place. The entrance/exit will also shut. Any moss on the walls is, for an unknown reason, safe to eat. A hiding place appears every few rooms, and most of them are in hidden places (behind televisions, under couches, etc.).
Rooms
- Kitchens have several bottles of Almond Water, and occasionally, Shrink Potions, but only 25ml per each bottle.
- Living Rooms contain televisions and, very rarely, bottles of Deoxyribose Syrup.
- Dining Rooms have glasses of Almond Water, and bowls of Death Berry juice, which is safe to consume.
- Bathrooms are normal, except the showers flow Liquid Pain when set to hot, and Almond Water when set to cold.
- Checkpoint Rooms are extremely rare, but have large supplies of Almond Water and small amounts of Memory Fluid. One wanderer claims to have found Crystalium, but this is an unconfirmed rumor.
Entities
Before the timer goes off, there are no entities. As stated above, Skin-Stealers, Smilers, and Death Moths (male and female) will appear when the timer hits zero, but more are theorized to exist that have not been found. There has also been reports of a shadowy human-like figure who appears when the lights go off, but it can be presumed the reports were just skin-stealers in the dark.

Due to the size of Level 5942, it is possible that there are more undiscovered outposts. However, we currently know about 2.

so you know how the levels timer starts counting a minute earlier each time right? what if when it keeps going down itll eventually start at zero seconds. so like, permanent lights off. that'd be pretty bad. also those outposts or whatever would be stuck in the hiding places cause it seals off.

Thank you for this important information. Have a good day. Don't worry about the outposts, though - you can noclip through the walls there to get to Level 4.
New revision to Level 5942 has been posted.
Level 5942 is the 5943rd level of the Backrooms.
Description
A photo of Level 5942, before the timer was stuck at zero.
Level 5942 is a green carpeted household area, with all the lights being extremely dim or broken. The carpet is always slightly moist, and the liquid has been determined to be Liquid Pain. The wallpaper is scratched and peeling off, with mold growing on it. There are also the typical rooms of a household, but unsafe or just containing harmful items. For example, a kitchen might have bottles of Liquid Pain.
The Timer
The timer was formerly a mechanism that made the level switch between safe and unsafe. However, due to the timer being permanently at zero, it now only functions as a light source. One appears in every other room, excluding Checkpoint Rooms.
Hiding Places
Due to The Timer being permanently stuck at zero, all hiding places are permanently locked shut. However, the locked holes do still emit a small amount of green light, which slightly illuminates the areas around them. It is recommended to stay away from these, as Death Moths are attracted to the light here.
Rooms
- Kitchens have bottles of Liquid Pain, and the sinks emit a red, acidic substance. The sinks continue to emit it after being turned off, and it can quickly flood the room.
- Living Rooms have televisions which emit screeching noises that cause pain to nearby wanderers.
- Dining Rooms have bowls of Death Berries, which are still unsafe to eat.
- Bathrooms have Liquid Pain dripping from the ceiling, and sinks emit Almond Water, but it has been proven to be poisonous.
- Checkpoint Rooms cause any wanderers who enter to be teleported to a level between 1 and 6.
Entities
There are many entities in the level, including but not limited to:
Skin-Stealers, Death Moths (male and female), Smilers, Clumps, and Hounds.
There have also been reports of a "shadowy figure" with glowing eyes, but these reports can be assumed to be Skin-Stealers in a shadowy area.
Colonies And Outposts
Due to the nature of this level, colonies and outposts are not possible.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- Cracked and broken houses in Level 9 will bring you into the Living Room areas.
- Drinking any Liquid Pain in Level 6.1, as long as the bottle has a timer on it, will bring you near a Checkpoint Room.
Exits
- Breaking a television and then noclipping into it brings you to Level 11 or Level 5.
- Noclipping near a Checkpoint Room has a chance to bring you to Level -1.
- Turning the shower onto hot for 30 seconds and swimming in the water brings you to Level 7.
