Level 6.2 - "The Thrift Store"
Description
Level 6.2 is a medium-to-large sized level composed of one large “main” room and three, smaller separate rooms taking the appearance of a crowded and oddly familiar thrift store stocked to the brim with clothing and other kinds of apparel and accessories ranging from shirts, socks, shoes, pants, jackets, hats, masks and even riot gear such as bullet-proof vests. The smell of fresh laundry wafts through the whole store and Indian-styled music can always be heard.
The store is run by a docile Skin Stealer who is willing to trade it’s wears with wanderers, occasionally giving them fashion advice and recommending certain items that it feels they may “suit them”. The full list of possible items one can find in the store are as follows.
- Shirts
- Jackets & Coats
- Dresses
- Pants & Shorts
- Shoes, Boots & Socks
- Hats, Helmets & even Wigs
- Glasses and other forms of eyewear
- Neckties and Bowties
- Gloves & Mittens
- Masks (including those depicting several entities)
- Costumes
- Backpacks, Handbags & Purses
- Jewelry (necklaces, rings, earrings etc.)
- Keychain, Charms and other miscellaneous accessories
- Armor (from riot gear to actual medieval knight armor)
Properties
There is a seemingly infinite supply of clothing as anything that is taken off the rack or given to wanderers will be replaced with something else in mere moments after exiting the room or Level 6.2 period.
Any of the store's items can be purchased via trading and the Shopkeeper is known to accept anything from ammunition to Almond Water. Certain clothes require certain items to be traded for and the more valuable items tend to have hefty "price tags".
Each article of clothing has some kind of beneficial effect on those that wear them and the buffs that an article of clothing will give is detailed on the item’s price tag. Simple t-shirts for example give +1 defense and sneakers can give anywhere from +1 to +3 speed, depending on the brand. Some even give unique effects that give wanderers an additional edge in survival such as winter clothing giving the wearer heightened endurance to extremely cold temperatures.
There are also Charms which enhance any piece of clothing, weapon or item it is equipped to with a unique effect depending on the charm in question and what it can be equipped to such as the Death Moth keychain that increases the chances of finding Moth Jelly or the "Golden Bullet" charm which doubles the power of any one firearm it is equipped to.
The possible buffs that all apparel in Level 6.2 can give to the user are as follows.
- Strength
- Defense
- Speed
- Stamina
- Stealth
- Luck
- Style
The Style buff doesn’t seem to do anything.
Entities
The only entities known to be within Level 6.2 is the docile Skin Stealer that runs it and his pet Hound who is also quite docile and reportedly likes to be pet but it is also the shop owner’s main form of security against unruly wanderers and hostile entities that may accidentally noclip through.
Colonies and Outposts
The Thrifters
A colony of wanderers that essentially work for the Shopkeeper, scavenging for any kind of wearable apparel throughout the Backrooms for the Shopkeeper to stock his store in exchange for shelter and protection. The “Employee’s Only” room being the base of operations for the Thifters. Out of all the different clans of wanderers, Thrifters are one of the most knowledgeable in expediting the Backrooms thanks to the Shopkeeper’s guidance, being an entity who has claimed to be something of an explorer in his “younger days”. Due to this, the M.E.G. have formed an alliance with the Thrifters and Shopkeeper, having them be honorary agents who help them explore the infinite expanse of the Backrooms and acquire new information and the M.E.G. gives the Thrifters supplies such as food and important knowledge of certain levels in their own set of knowledge in return.
Thrifters can be identified by their odd fashion sense as they wear multiple layers of mismatching clothes and odd accessories such as their leader Lenny, who wears a lampshade with eyeholes cut out as a makeshift mask. Thrifters often go by code names rather then their real names and are named after a certain accessory they wear.
Thrifters are typically non-hostile and are willing to trade with other wanderers for their clothing or Charms.

The Shopkeeper
This entity resembles a skin stealer wearing a random assortment of mismatching clothing as well as multiple hats stacked on top of each other. The Shopkeeper is docile and friendly and always happy to trade supplies for his clothing and other accessories especially if the items wanderers are willing to trade are also some kind of article of clothing, however he has been shown to have a generous side as he will give clothing for free to wanderers who are in rough shape and in need of clothing. He may also offer you to join the Thrifters, making the safe-as-can-be shop your new home in exchange for your assistance in finding new stock and generally help around the store along with the others.
Most of the items that wanderers trade for his anomalous clothing, whether it be ammunition or medical supplies goes to the Thrifters.
Shopkeeper’s Kitchen
The Shopkeeper will even cook for wanderers upon request and he is reportedly a very good cook, his best dishes being those listed as his “specials” in a menu-like pamphlet he will give to wanderers to keep.
By giving him the right compatible ingredients, the Shopkeeper can cook many different types of delicious culinary delights ranging from Mushroom & Almond Pasta to Smoked Death Rat to even desserts such as Almond Pound Cake and Pumpkin Donuts. This is a good food-acquiring option for wanderers who can't cook or haven't found the Wanderer's Cookbook yet. The food the Shopkeeper cooks is essentially free as wanderers do not need to trade for his meals but they do need to supply the ingredients in the first place which the Shopkeeper’s considers to be a form of payment. The Shopkeeper makes all of his food in a mobile kitchen kept behind his counter.
The Shopkeeper’s food also has anomalous effects. Those who eat it claim to feel rejuvenated and with a renewed sense of positivity and any injuries they may have had will start to heal at an accelerated rate upon consumption.
Side Note: The Shopkeeper will put a chef’s hat on top of the already towering pile of hats on his head when asked to cook.
