Level 607 is the 608th level of the Backrooms.
REPORT INCOMPLETE. SUBJECT TO CHANGE. REDACTED PERSONNEL WITHOUT PROPER CLEARANCE MAY NOT MODIFY/TAMPER. Tampering may result in the destruction of unarchived data, and compromise the integrity of listed safety procedures for exploration.
Description
Level 607 appears as a large, concrete plane with an identical ceiling. Subjects spawn in a infinite plane with a floor and ceiling that measure exactly 1m (39.3701in) from the ground to ceiling. This 1m space will be referred to as "the gap". No matter which entrance is used, subjects will always and have always began in this gap. At 50cm (19.658in) intervals, square holes in the ground and the ceiling arrange into a grid pattern. Crawling up into them, subjects were presented with a large (and seemingly endless) pattern of square vertical and horizontal tunnels forming a claustrophobic grid. As subjects climbed up or down from the gap, the diameter of the tunnels decreased by one centimeter every 50 meters.
The temperature of this level is a constant 90 degrees, with little to no air movement. Pressure holds around 1atm. Due to the combination of the heat and the stagnant air, heat exhaustion is common among explorers. Subjects were advised to bring water and food that would not melt.
Little was known about this level, except for written passages contributed by unreliable sources. Several of these writings lead to invalidation of all unoriginal data, due to the fact that several of them seemed to be suffering from mental illness and [REDACTED]. On this basis, an investigation was launched in December 2021 to gather reliable data.
Using basic math, it was assumed the effective "edge" of the explorable is 2500 meters above or below the gap. At plus or minus 2500m, mathematically the edges of the square tunnels meet, leaving solid concrete. It has been concluded that the human-accessible grid spaces are best explored through techniques similar to that of spelunking. Although it is geometrically impossible, all subjects reported that at whatever height from the gap they were, the space they were in was still perfectly square, and the faces around them lined up at exactly 90 degrees (even when connected passages naturally changed in size).
Officially, researchers have yet to observe the explorable edge, so it is impossible to conclude with complete sureness whether or not the passages indeed end (discounting the previously-mentioned unreliable accounts).
