Level 617 is the 618th level of the Backrooms, and is an unconfirmed level in Cluster I.

Description
Level 617 is a highly unsecure and unstable level with varying entities present. The level itself is physically identical to that of Level 0, but with varying changes the deeper you go in.
Initially the level will look exactly the same to Level 0, but will slowly fade into a greyish hue as one goes in deeper. This change usually happens at 2-3 kilometers away from the initial starting point. When this happens, entity encounters will be more frequent with the entities themselves becoming slightly more hostile towards the wanderer.
At the 5 kilometer mark, the level's appearance is more or less the same, but with slightly longer and narrower corridors and a more greyish-black hue. The fluorescent lights here are consistently dim with no buzzing noise present, and the grey carpet is completely dry. One will start to notice that there are now many hostile entities nearby, and constantly hostile.
Around the 10-15 kilometer mark, the level now is a single, completely black corridor. The fluorescent lights are now extremely dim, and entity encounters are guaranteed. It is not advised to go past this point as the entities here are immediately hostile.
Going past this point is now more or less impossible, as human exploration of this section is considered fatal.
Throughout the level, one may find some dense fog at floor level. DO NOT STEP INSIDE. The fog has an acidlike property that will completely dissolve anything made of carbon, which affects the human body as well. This lethal fog can be collected, however, inside a glass jar and can be used to destroy most entities. If you are attempting this, however, be warned that the fog can dissolve most protective clothing like rubber gloves and hazmat suits. If you manage to contain the fog inside of the glass jar, close the lid immediately. The fog seems to be denser than air, causing it to float around at the lowest point it can find.
This level is considered one of the strangest, if not the, levels of the backrooms due to its anomalous properties.
Colonies and Outposts
Due to the nature of this level, colonies and outposts are unable to be established at any point except within a range of 3 kilometers from the initial starting point.
Survivor Fortress
- consists of 16 members;
- open to trading;
- have a moderate supply of food;
- have a large arsenal of weapons;
- takes in lost wanderers.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
There are currently 2 ways to enter Level 617. Other entrances may also exist, but are currently unconfirmed.
- Noclipping out of The Manila Room can sometimes lead to this level instead.
- Walking far enough in The Hub, one will sometimes find a small iron door, labeled "Level 0?" going through this door has a small chance to actually lead to Level 0, or lead to this level instead.
Exits
There is only one way to exit this level.
- walking past the 10 kilometer limit from the initial starting point. As this is very dangerous, it is advised to stay in the level.
