"The Shoprooms / The Item Shop"
"Ah you made it traveller! You've bested the last 625 levels of our reality! Show me any items you've found on your travels and I'll give you some clinky shiny coin!"
- "The Shopkeeper", the only Entity in this level when you enter Level 626.
What is this level?
Level 626 could be considered an 'oddball' level. However, it is on the safer side of oddball levels. (As long as you don't steal!). What makes this level unique is that the only Entity, "The Shopkeeper", will buy anything you've found during your travels in the backrooms. Some factors will affect how much the shopkeeper will buy your items for, such as how many hostile entities you've killed, how many travellers you've saved from death, how many levels you've visited, etc. The Shopkeeper will seemingly buy any item that can be found in the backrooms, and even some frontrooms items. If you sell a frontrooms item to him, he'll comment on that. He doesn't say a specific line, but it is always something about how the item is 'unfamiliar' and how it 'doesn't seem to belong here'.
Level 626 is also a very safe level as alluded to earlier. No entities are present here, apart from "The Shopkeeper". If an entity attempts to enter his level, he'll just shoo them out. Because of this, Level 626 is a common place for travellers to stop by, buy equipment, sell unwanted things, talk to other travellers and prepare to set off further into the Backrooms. Just, please. don't steal from me or otherwise I'll make sure bad things happen..
Interesting things to note
"The Shopkeeper" can't tolerate partygoers. They just don't stop trying to throw a damn party... IN A GODDAMN SHOP OUT OF ALL PLACES! If you bring up Partygoers to the shopkeeper he'll try to change the topic and if you keep trying to talk to him about partygoers he'll pay less for your items.
If one steals from Level 626, when they exit from the doors the doors will promptly lock, a 'closed forever' sign will appear on it and the level will fade into Level !. Rarely though, the shoplifter might end up in Level 626's sublevel, 626.1.
A coin from Level 626 that has seemingly had it's spectral-ish shine removed.
When selling items to The Shopkeeper, the coins he gives back are made of a seemingly unknown material; it cannot melt, but it is brittle. The colour (I'm BRITISH! We spell it as COLOUR, not COLOR!) is difficult to describe as it is kind of spectrum-ish, yet also metallic. These coins are also noticeably bigger than a regular Frontrooms coin, and is sort of comparable to the size of a Frontrooms chocolate coin.
Entities found in this level
Only one entity is found in this level. The Shopkeeper.
The Shopkeeper will buy any items you've found on your journeys through the Backrooms. He also sells things like Almond Water, Super Almond Water, firearms and sometimes even level keys, however the keys go for a hefty price (about 50 Level 626 coins for 1 key)
The Shopkeeper's stock changes a lot, but he will always have a few consistent items. They will be listed here:
| Item | Regular Price | If the shopkeeper likes you | If the shopkeeper dislikes you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Almond Water | 2 Level 626 coins | Free, help yourself! You deserve it! | 5 Level 626 coins |
| Super Almond Water | 10 Level 626 coins | 5 Level 626 coins | 10 Level 626 coins |
| Level Key | 50 Level 626 coins | 40 Level 626 coins | Ill-willed people can't have their hands on these special keys! |
It is unknown how The Shopkeeper gets all of these level keys because they are usually very difficult to find. It is also unknown how The Shopkeeper's almond water and super almond water supply is infinite.
In order for travellers to get an idea of how often items appear, we'll document 4 days and the stock that Level 626 has across those 4 days.
Day 1: Almond Water (will be abbreviated to AW), Super Almond Water (will be abbreviated to SAW for now), M1911 pistol and a few full mags
Day 2: AW, SAW, Level Key, Level Documents (for the Main Nine)
Day 3: AW, SAW, Entity Documents (for Partygoers. The Shopkeeper stated they were cheap because he didn't want to see the partygoers again.)
Day 4: AW, SAW, M4 carbine with a few full mags, water balloons full of almond water, Level Key
Logs
Feel free to write down the current daily stock to assist other travellers aiming to reach this level. You do not need to mention almond / super almond water as that is always in stock, but if for some reason it is not feel free to share that.
Scrambled2390 (22 / 04 / 22): Flashlight and a few batteries, level map (tested and it is slightly inaccurate but still useful), 'Level Warp' (might be an instant gateway to a level?)
LOG 1 / 3 / 2005
Unknown Operative: Alright, I seem to be in a new level, let me-
The Shopkeeper: Ah you made it traveller! You bested the last 625 levels of our reality!
Unknown Operative: Can you shut up for a bit, please?
The Shopkeeper: oh, ok. Do you want to.. buy something? Sell somethin-
Unknown Operative: I thought you were going to shut up!
*A light sigh could be heard from the distance, likely coming from The Shopkeeper.*
Level Assessor George R. Brown: Describe the surroundings. Any entities in sight? Anything unusual?
Unknown Operative: Well, apart from that entity that wouldn't be quiet, nothing in sight yet. The level appears to be a mostly standard shop, however there's tables and chairs, which is odd and the area kinda looks more like a bar.
Level Assessor George R. Brown: Alright. Maybe try selling something to this entity you're talking about, he might be the shopkeeper.
The Shopkeeper: You wanna buy or sell?
Unknown Operative: Could you appraise this Game Beans Advance for me?
The Shopkeeper: Hmm, this item seems a bit unfamiliar. It doesn't seem to belong here in our reality, but I will give you 15 clinky shiny coin for it.
Unknown Operative: Sure, take the game beans advance. I don't need it.
The Shopkeeper: Thank you for your business!

Outposts and Groups
Despite the safe nature of this level, no outposts or groups have been established. Level 626 is more of a safe hub for travellers to find groups and progress to different levels while being able to look out for eachother. Small groups have likely been formed, but all are likely too small to have been noticed so none have been documented here.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances:
- Buying things from other travellers has a slight chance of taking you here.
- In The Promised Land, The Shopkeeper can sometimes be found setting up shop. This isn't really an entrance to the level, rather access to the helpful entity it houses.
- Killing a Partygoer will sometimes have the Shopkeeper appear before you and ask you if you want to go to his shop for 'helping him get rid of the nuisances'
Exits:
- Stealing something will send you to Level !. This is not recommended.
- Buying something then leaving will take you to Level 11. This is the recommended exit as Level 11 is also relatively safe.
- Rarely, stealing something will take you to Level 626.1, which is a more abandoned form of this level, but obviously far more dangerous. Speaking of level 626.1, scroll down to see it!
If you leave the store without stealing, climb up these stairs to find yourself in Level 11.
