Description

Level 69

A photograph of Level 69's exterior.

Level 69

Level 69 takes the appearance of an expansive motel located in an arid grassland biome, featuring a seemingly never-ending amount of rooms, which allow the motel to accommodate an endless quantity of wanderers and Facelings, respectively. The grassland around the motel flourishes prickly pear cacti along with many other major dark hued flora that have over time adapted to the level's excessively dry environment. The level features an infinite number of motel cabins that resemble typical suburban housing buildings, with every motel cabin's exterior design being identical. However, their interior varies, with some of them appearing unrecognizable when compared to others. Level 69 is set in a perpetual state of day-time and does not contain any fog within it.

The houses look to be built using white plasterboard and cement, with pitched roofs. The edifices lack any pillars or other objects to hold them, yet they do not crumble, though they are susceptible to physical damage. When a motel cabin was attempted to be demolished, the walls and other parts were successfully destroyed, yet the ceiling remained in the same position, floating.

Additionally, one may occasionally stumble upon a parking lot. These parking lots are seemingly scattered through random locations near the level's motel cabins. A few of the parking lots feature vehicles with varying functionality and stability; some are in perfect condition, yet others are unable to start and break down when one enters them.

Motel

Ditto, albeit from a different angle.

Motel

Furthermore, the interiors of the motel cabins possess non-Euclidean and often confusing geometry, as many of them are either larger or smaller than how they appear when being observed from the exterior. Each motel cabin is assigned an unique number ranging from 1 to ∞ that is displayed on the cabin's respective door. Unlike the size, the layout of most rooms contain many similarities, such as the same objects or identical wallpaper. Items that can be found within the motel cabins feature, but are not limited to: one or two beds of varying sizes, paintings depicting seemingly random things hanging on the walls, lamps that are usually fully functional, chairs, desks with self-restocking bottles of Almond Water, dusty carpets, and refrigerators that contain healthy meals and ice or sparkling water. Additionally, each room has its own ventilation system and is equipped with a cable TV that is unfortunately non-functioning.

Every one of Level 69's rooms offer free Wi-Fi of exceptional quality. The Wi-Fi's password is "HiLbErT69", with a capital "H," "L," "E," and "T". If one is to constantly use this Wi-Fi connection, it will start permanently deteriorating and at a certain point will be unusable unless a completely new device is used.

This level features a wide array of objects that are deemed out-of-place in such environment. These objects include: electrical pylons, barrels full of oil, patches of grass that randomly come out of the concrete floor, et cetera. These objects, while not extremely unusual, are out-of-place as they have no determined purpose nor function. It is unknown why they are there, though they are considered as just another one of Level 69's many abnormalities.

69

Level 69's designated name is "Hilbert's Motel" due to many of its properties being in some way related to the Hilbert's Hotel Paradox, a paradox that shows how a hotel with infinite rooms can still become full with the correct amount of inhabitants. However, this level's motel establishment is actually named "Roy's Vacancy Motel Cafe," yet it features no cafes within it. The level's true name has been determined by the large sign located near the motel. Due to it being related to the Hilbert's Hotel Paradox, Level 69 is the home of numerous research institutions that specialize in investigating the paradox.. These establishments have set up stations within the rooms to examine and experiment with the features of Level 69. While some tests carried out on this floor are confidential, others are accessible to the public. The research teams frequently occupy a series of adjacent rooms to prevent excessive use of a single router device, which is hampered by the weak Wi-Fi signal.

The temperature remains steady at an average of 32 °C (89.6 °F), with the lowest point being 21 °C (69.8 °F) and the highest point being 39 °C (102.2 °F). The minimum temperature is only observed during winter, which, even at that period, rarely descends to the minimum level. The other two temperature limits are frequently encountered.

Unlike most levels, Level 69 frequently experiences natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and blizzards. If a natural disaster is lethal, it possess the ability to greatly damage, and even destroy certain motel cabins affected by them. However, when out of an individuals sight, damaged motel cabins will instantly regenerate and appear as good as new.

If one is to travel far enough from their starting point, they will be met with a seemingly randomly generated landscape containing many mountains and hills that start and end at unusual positions. Similarly to the area near the motel, this region is infested with large quantities of flora. However, this area is not confirmed to be infinite, as it has a "border" point that can be recognized by its gigantic, white fence. If one attempts to cross the fence, they will be instead sent to their starting point or alternatively to the interior of a motel cabin. Additionally, an asphalt road stretches across the level's entire landscape, seemingly never ending. It extends beyond the level's border point, though it does not lead to anywhere useful nor notable.

Colonies and Outposts

There are currently 3 notable documented colonies and outposts in Level 69.

Outpost Beta of the Major Explorer Group

  • Population of roughly 54 researchers dedicated to studying the level's abnormalities, a portion of them are also dedicated to studying the Hilbert's Hotel Paradox.
  • Friendly, will offer a temporary safe haven in one of the rooms that they control.
  • Frequently communicates with the Major Explorer Group's Editorial Council about new discoveries related to Level 69.

Kauer Mathematical Anomalies Research Outpost

  • A small colony containing around 8 researchers.
  • Private and will not help wanderers.
  • All their research is confidential.

Kevin's Party Rooms

  • Colony that owns 3 motel cabins.
  • Population of 38 wanderers who "wanna party till they die!".
  • Kevin gave up on his PhD thesis to create this colony
  • Open for new members
  • Frequently gets attacked by the Mustang entity.
  • The refrigerators and desks in Kevin's Party Rooms are filled with two more bottles of Almond Water than usual.

Entities

The Motel Manager

Signn

The motel's official sign, where the Motel Manager spends most of his time at. The Motel Manager was getting attacked by an insane wanderer, thus he is absent in this photograph.

Signn

The Motel Manager is an entity that exclusively appears within Level 69. His appearance resembles a male, false Faceling that looks to be around twenty five to thirty years old. He behaves like a typical motel manager would, greeting individuals as they pass by or enter the motel. He spends most of his time occupying a slightly deteriorated motel sign that is located near one of the motel cabins. His attire varies depending on different reports; some say that he has a casual attire, others say that he has a more professional one, wearing typical business clothes. (a black suit, black pants, and a tie)

He, as his title suggests, controls the entirety of the motel, along with the entire level, and is able to change parts of it whenever he wants to. Additionally, the motel features an infinite budget which The Motel Manager mainly uses to buy endless quantities of almond water and stable electricity.

When one encounters The Motel Manager, they must have a nice attitude as he is the one that decides whether one can get into the motel or not. Being aggressive to him will result in him physically fighting individuals, or calling the Mustang to exterminate them.

The Driver

The Driver is an entity that resides in, but not exclusively, Level 69. He is a male eyed Faceling which is responsible for driving the numerous buses that transport individuals to the level's motel. His appearance is similar to that of how a typical bus driver would look like, and he behaves like a normal Faceling except he is not aggressive no matter what one does to him.

The Mustang

Mustang

The Mustang's usual appearance. Photographer was later ran over by the entity after refusing to move away from it.

Mustang

The Mustang, referred to by himself as "The Challenger," is another entity that exclusively inhabits Level 69. It takes the appearance of a, at first glance, normal, mainly red and white 1965 Ford Mustang (Model T5) which, unlike typical cars, is capable of speech and rational thought. This entity is the main and most notable threat within this level, as it constantly recklessly drives itself into objects, motel cabins, and people alike, with no regard for the destruction he causes. Surprisingly, his exterior is never damaged from the many crashes it experiences. The Mustang constantly brags about his endeavors and achievements; he constantly mentions a tournament named The Roy Cup, where he provokes other sentient cars that participate in the tournament, ramming them, and sabotaging their engines to win the "races". According to him, his "kill count" is in the hundreds; most of his victims are unsuspecting passengers who do not enter a motel cabin fast enough. Additionally, this entity features a radio that always replays 5 songs of undetermined origin, name, and artist.

Entity 700, the formal name it has been given, is excessively difficult to control due to it constantly moving at an impressive 90 miles per hour. The Mustang generally drives in circles or in other random geometric patterns until a passerby comes near and is spotted by the entity. When the entity spots a wanderer, it will immediately stop moving, start flashing his headlights, and angrily order the "disturbance" to stop bothering him. If the targeted wanderer refuses to move far enough from the entity or starts being aggressive to it, The Mustang will start revving up his engines, creating smoke from his tires in the process of doing so. After a wanderer decides not to move away from the entity, the car's radio will start playing a countdown from 10. It is suggested to back away at this point, as The Mustang will honk his horn, hit the gas pedal, and start violently attacking all individuals in sight when the countdown reaches zero.

In more dire cases, if agitated enough, he will flip open his headlights to reveal two missile launchers. However, he does not appear to be capable of actually firing missiles. It is speculated that this is merely an empty threat to persuade individuals to leave him alone, but this has not been confirmed.

Facelings

Regular Facelings are extremely common entities in Level 69. There is an infinite amount of Facelings in Level 69. These facelings arrive in buses, just like wanderers, and occupy the infinite missing seats that feature no wanderers sitting on them. In Level 69 most facelings are adults, and will not harm wanderers unless the wanderer is aggressive to them.

Events

Events are rather rare occurrences in Level 69, and are the main focus of researchers who reside in the level. These events occur when one or infinitely more wanderers enter the level.

New Arrivals

This event occurs when a wanderer reaches Level 69 without taking a bus. All the facelings and wanderers occupying rooms in Level 69 will move to the next room. For example: someone in room 5 would move to room 6, and so on to infinity.

Infinite Passenger Buses

This event occurs when a bus carrying an infinite amount of passengers arrives at the motel. All wanderers and facelings occupying the rooms in Level 69 will move to a new room, whose number's is twice their last room's number. This allows for a infinite amount of new wanderers and facelings to occupy the infinite number of odd-numbered rooms.

Infinite Infinite Passenger Buses

This event occurs when an infinite amount of buses carrying an infinite amount of passengers arrives at the motel. If this event occurs, all the wanderers and facelings occupying rooms in Level 69 will move to room 2, the first prime number, to the power of their current room. This means that a wanderer or faceling occupying room 4 will move to room 24, or room 16. Then, each bus will be assigned to unique prime number, in increasing order. The passengers on the first bus, for example, will go to the room 3 to the power of their seat number. This means that a wanderer or faceling seating in the fifth seat of the second bus will go to room 55, or room 3125. This allows for an infinite number of infinite new wanderers and facelings to occupy a unique room. This will create many vacant rooms such as room 6, which is not a power of any prime number. These vacant rooms will be then filled with facelings who will spawn inside them.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • Interacting with a Pepsi advertisement within any level will take one here.
  • The elevator in Level 68 is able to lead one here.
  • Taking a seemingly infinite bus in Level 9, Level 11, or Level 117 will take one here.
  • Wandering far enough in Level 477 has a chance to lead here.
  • Entering a car that closely resembles The Mustang within Level 9.2 will transport one here.

Exits

  • Stay in the bus after all the passengers have exited to be taken by the driver to Level 11. Alternatively, board the bus after all the passengers have exited to end up in the same level.
  • Noclipping into the room's wall will take you to Level 143.
  • Certain factors cause a region of Level 69 to fade in Level -69. Entering this anomaly would grant one access to the respective level.
  • Interacting with a stained glass window will teleport one to Level 717.
  • Picking up a rose will cause the level to transition into Level 70.
  • Sleeping in a tub will lead to Level 129.
  • Entering room number 66 has a slight chance to lead to Level 66.
