The crossroads (a non-joke level you shouldn't ruin and lead it to a page for deletion)
Description
Level 696 consists of a 4 km2, 3cm thick, square sheet of OSB type plywood suspended in a sky-blue void. This level is very well documented thanks to it's safe and accessible nature. The vast sheet acts as a form of surface that can be walked on. It can be easily broken through and can collapse under a person's weight. There is a gravitational pull on this level, but the sheet does not fall down. This is because it rests on what came to be known as "suspension points". These are certain, narrow points in space, that the plywood simply cannot move below, as if they were scaffoldings that hold it up. They also grant the sheet structural integrity, because they are spread under it every 30 meters in a grade pattern. Otherwise the sheet would crumble and collapse under it's own weight. The suspension points are in no way tangible and can only be observed through the way they interact with the plywood. The spots between the points easily bend and are prone to breaking, so it is not advised to walk on them, unless you aim to fall beneath. By now, the sheet would already be damaged beyond usability by all the travelers that frequently walk on it, if not for the fact, that when left unobserved for a prolonged period of time, the damaged parts of plywood revert to an intact state.
When standing on the sheet, it will stretch beyond the horizon, giving the impression that it has no end. However, it is very much finite. So finite in fact, that it has been traversed in it's entirety. This level is well lighted, similarly to a sunny day on earth. It has been observed through the use of shadows, that all the natural light in this level comes from a single point in the "sky". There is no visible object that could be emitting said light. It is simply coming out of seemingly nowhere. The source of light is hovering in the void at an unknown distance beyond one of the sheet's edges. This edge was named "the northern edge". The other three edges have been correspondingly named after cardinal directions for ease of navigation. You can easily tell the direction you're facing, by looking at the shadow you're casting. The entire level could be mapped out, but it would be pointless, because it is completely barren and has no points of interest whatsoever. Knowing which edge you are facing is essential for the primary use of this level. Travelers use it to get to other levels of the backrooms, which is where this level obtains it's name from. The only mortal danger you will face in level 696 is starvation and dehydration, although even if you do not bring any rations of your own, you are very likely to encounter care packages left all over the sheet by other travelers, or the travelers themselves.
Colonies and Outposts
There are no colonies or outposts anywhere on this level, due to it's instability and barrenness.
Entities
There are no entities at all on this level.
Leaving Level 696
- If you fall into the void beneath the sheet, you will clip into Level 0.
- If you jump off the northern edge, you will clip into Level 11.
- If you jump off the eastern edge, you will clip into Level 188. (it is not adviced to do this! going to level 188 has a chance of leading to level fun!
- If you jump off the southern edge, you will clip into Level 20.
- If you jump off the western edge, you will clip into Level 10.
A couple of travelers reported that they were transported to Level 6, after falling into the void, but it is generally thought to be untrue.
Entering Level 696
If you no-clip through any level in the backrooms, while moving upwards, at at least 1 m/s, you will have a good chance of getting to Level 696. If you succeed, you will be placed in the very middle of the sheet.
Noclipping through the arcade machine in Press Start brings you here.
