Class: Mesaío
"Mesaío class levels are those that have a medium/low entity count, and contain something that make them slightly unsafe for exploration;it can be a particular entity, level property, or something else that would make this level slightly dangerous or sanity-effecting. Levels with this class can have a low entity count and high amount of resources, but beware, not everything is safe around the backrooms."
Level 698 is the 699th level of the Backrooms. It resembles a gigantic version of a Laser Tag arena with an estimated size of 542 million square miles.

Description
Level 698 is an gigantic Laser Tag arena, with a look similar to those built in the 90's or early 2000's. This level is commonly used as war grounds by other groups in the Backrooms, as it contains a lot of structures to hide behind, and there's a lot of movement space..
This level has a dark blue carpet-like floor, and many colorful barriers and towers scattered across the level. Some of the barriers have circle-shaped holes on their side, so the person behind the barrier can shoot through them. There are occasional puddles of Coca-Cola and left-over slices of pizza lying on the floor;both are, somehow, safe for consumption, as long as they aren't made too dirty through being stepped on or through other means. It wouldn't be very hygienic, however.
This level does not provide the equipment necessary to play Laser Tag normally, so travelers bring their own weapons here, leading to brutal matches of a more dangerous and lethal form of "Laser Tag." This level's source of food are the aforementioned puddles of coke and leftover pizza slice, unopened bags of chips lying around in random places, and cans of Coca-Cola filled with Almond Water.
This level's known entities are Skin Stealers, Hounds, Facelings, Storks and rarely Smilers. No other entities such as Partygoers have been reported or seen to roam this level.
Ocasionally the speakers on the ceiling may play announcements from an unknown man, but most of the time the speech is entirely incoherent, or non-sequiturs such as "BOOYAH! A new undying hero has been deployed in the laser arena!" No matter what line is said by the announcer, nothing appears to happen. However, there is a small chance that the announcer will tell players that music is coming, causing the speakers to play a song. For example:
(Lines are transcribed from previous recordings by the M.E.G.)
"Alllrrriight, time for some music, fellas! Check this one out!"
Music Played - Unknown
"Heyyyy, how about some intense fighting music? Get crunkin' with Europe's brand new release!"
Music Played - Europe - The Final Countdown
Sometimes the announcer may be heard singing along with the lyrics (if there are any) quietly, humming to the music (if there are no lyrics), or doing announcements in the middle of the song, curiously in the same rhythm and pace that the song is going.
This level is found to be very nostalgic by wanderers from countries where Laser Tag was popular in the Frontrooms, especially those whose's childhoods were in the 90s-2000s.
Colonies & Outposts
This level contains a high amount of Colonies & Outposts, though this may be due to the fact that this level is perfect for making fortifications, and is also very spacious.
The main bases of this level are:
M.E.G. Outpost - "Running In The 90's"
- Has a current population of 98 members
- Open to trading, but hostile to enemy groups
- Heavily armed.
Backroom Colonists
- Unknown amount of members at the outpost.
- Open to trading.
- Known to give out laser guns for use at "Safety Zones" in Level 698 where lethal weapons are banned.
This level has a known total of 12 bases and 18 outposts, though more bases and outposts are being found to this day.
