Level 700 - Safe Refuge

Level 700 is the 701th level of the backrooms.

Description

Level 700 is a very large rectangular room with a beige wallpaper and whitewashed ceiling and floor. There are bright fluorescent lights that light up the room. Right at the center of the room is a water well, with fresh almond water for wanderers to drink. The source of this water is presumed to be from level 8, because of the sharp, rocky inside of the well. There is a downside, however, as if you fall down the well you will fall into level 8. The room emits a very high-frequency sound wave, high enough to not be heard by humans, but damaging to electronic appliances. This is the reason there is no current photo of the level. The only thing they display is black static which will permanently break the device, so it is unadvised to use your appliance here.

The room is devoid of all entities, and is a very popular spot for wanderers to meet, trade, and rest. Unfortunately is is very difficult to enter this level, as it is one of the only safe spots in the Backrooms.

The room with the lights off.

Sometimes the lights will occasionally go off, but do not worry. They will come on again in 5-10 minutes. The only lights that are on during this period are some flickering lights that give off a dim glow, only enough to find your way around the room. This is one of the only periods of time where you can take pictures of the room because of the disappearance of the sound waves in this period. The anomalous thing about this event is that the room seems to distort into a maze of hallways reminiscent of level 0, but without the entities present there. When this happens, it is advised to stay with your colony or other companions until the lights come on again and the room goes back to its normal state.

There is only one door at the far end of the room, a small wooden door with a brass doorknob. Entering this door will lead to a random class 0-3 level. Most people never leave however, as they are not sure that they can find this room (or other safe places) once more.

Colonies and Outposts

There are only 2 colonies established in this level. They are mostly separate, since the Traders rely on the almond water in the well to live and flourish, while the Resters do not trust the water because they think it is a decayed form of water from Level 8 so they use their own limited supply of Almond water they have currently.

  • Consists of 38 members
  • Will take in lost wanderers and offer places to sleep

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • There is a very small chance for a white door to appear in The Hub, and on entering, you will be transported to this level.
  • You can enter this level by surviving 2 years in Level 3.
  • Run SAFEREFUGE.EXE on the computer in The End to get transported here.

Exits

  • Fall into the well to be transported to level 8.
  • Walk through the door at the far end of this level to get transported to a random class 0-3 level.
