Description

Level 712 is the 713th level of the backrooms, the level resembles the Eastern half of the county of Kent in South East England.

The level is perpetually in the evening, with temperatures averaging around 10C with a spring-like state and light cloudy skies. The level seems to be in the time frame of 2017, judging by calendars in houses and the technology present. Although level 712 is a near perfect recreation of the English County of Kent, there are some differences.

The river dour is much bigger and longer than it is normally, stretching from Dover (in the southwest) to Faversham (in the North).

The North-eastern District of Thanet is now an island, separated by a 10 meter wide stretch of sea. A bridge was constructed by the M.E.G connecting Thanet with the mainland.

Half of the central Eastern village of Sandwich is burnt down.

France is not visible from any place in the level, not even Dover.

The trees and flowers are in a perpetually partially bloomed state.

This has led to the theory that half of an entire county (or roughly 600 square miles) of land in an alternate universe has transported to the backrooms. Although there is no way to confirm this, it is quite a likely theory that many wanderers who live in this level have.

All of the water flowing through the river dour is perfectly safe and drinkable, as it is distilled but food is scarce and is therefore rationed. This is due to the lack of stores restocking and it being tough to grow crops en masse due to the relatively cold climate of the level.

The actual land area in the level is quite safe. There have been only 3 confirmed adult facelings and only 2 confirmed child facelings in the last year. Male deathmoths are occasionally seen flying around, but they are docile. Although there have been attacks by entities such as female deathmoths before so it's advised you still keep alert whilst travelling this level. The jeopardy of the level is when you go out to sea, going on the waters is highly reprimanded as there are a lot of unidentified and highly hostile entities. Anyone who has gone too far out has never been confirmed alive after, although it is theorised that travelling 20 miles out to sea will take you to level 7.

A low-quality picture that was taken in June 2018 of what appears to be a large swimming hound like creature with fins for feet washed up on the coast of Dover in November 2020. No entity classification has been made for this creature yet due to insufficient information and the fact that the M.E.G could barely inspect the image due to water damage, although it is theorised that it is a subspecies of hound.

Due to the relative safety and normality of level 712, wanderers are recommended to settle down here if they encounter this level.

Colonies and outposts

M.E.G base “Stallion”

M.E.G base Stallion is a large station located in the port section of Dover, with 227 M.E.G members it is one of the larger bases in the M.E.G. The role of this base is to maintain key roads, keep watch for entities, make sure wanderers are safe, and to research and identify the entities in the sea. The M.E.G also patrols the coast to make sure no wanderers enter the sea.

M.E.G base “Ghille”

M.E.G base Ghille is stationed in Hawkinge and patrols the border of level 712, the border lies from just west of Folkestone to just west of Faversham. Ghille has 76 M.E.G members of whom's main goal is guiding wanderers who end up in this level to a safe place.

Canterbury

It is the second most populous place, with 720 habitants.

Dover

Dover is the most populous place in level 712 with an estimated 1,600 inhabitants. The reason why Dover is so populated is because of the M.E.G guarding the settlement from potential entities. The town is located in a valley.

Thanet

Due to Thanet’s built up design there are roughly 800 inhabitants who live in this series of three interconnected towns. The bridge constructed by the M.E.G allows Thanet’s inhabitants to cross to the mainland safely.

Folkestone

Folkestone has a population of roughly 550 inhabitants, located west of Dover, Folkestone is normally the first settlement wanderers who enter this level encounter.

Faversham

Faversham has a population of roughly 280 inhabitants, it is located in the northwest. This settlement is also likely to be the first settlement wanderers who enter this level encounter.

The citizens

Counting up major settlements and all small settlements/people who live alone there are an estimated 5,500 wanderers living in level 712. However it is recommended to live in settlements incase of attacks from deathmoths.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

The most common way of entering level 712 is by randomly encountering it whilst wandering level 10. If the synonymous heavy fog begins to clear and a red evening haze begins to appear in level 10, then you are likely entering level 712.

It is also possible to enter level 712 via level 9, by walking in the opposite direction of the road that can lead to level 11 there is an incredibly small chance to enter level 712 after walking for at least 10 miles.

Exits

The easiest way of exiting level 712 is by crossing the level border, this is not really a border between the levels; but more of a smooth transition. You can either enter level 11 by following the road signs towards London across the border, enter level 10 by crossing the border in a field, or enter level 9 by crossing the border in a town (ex. Hawkinge).

It is rumoured that you can enter level 7 by sailing rougly 20 miles out to sea but it is incredibly dangerous and not recommended.

The A2 is a major highway in this level. at some point of the highway in the outskirts of Canterbury, There is an interchange that says "To M898". Entering M898 will lead you to Level 898
