Description

Interior of Level 754 before the meltdown

LargestNuclearPlant

Eternally stuck in meltdown, the disastrous events of "The Core", also known as Level 754 are ones still being accounted for. Its network of electrical cords are ones that stretch across the backrooms as a whole. These electrical systems are produced by Level 754's expansive wiring system. Large binds of wires traverse many of the halls and split off into small holes dug into Level 754's walls. Previously excavated holes have shown the wires connecting to other levels in the Backrooms. How these powerlines connect to other levels remain unknown, as attempts to traverse into the lines have failed.

Amid failures in the reactors, the facility continues production, which has lead to other issues throughout the site regarding its stability and safety in traversal. These near constant processes, regardless of the ongoing damage have lead to repeated hazardous properties and entity appearance.

All documents in Level 754 are written in Kanji, with many sharing the same logo and identification of the Japanese Fukushima power plant. However, it is not a perfect recreation, as multiple sections in Level 754 are constructed in fashion differently from said reactor. While some features have been matched, many seem to be ones that only exist in Level 754. Parts of Level 754 reflect the destructed sections of the Fukushima along with the Chernobyl plant, mirroring both its construction and damage. These sections show far greater levels of radiation and damage to the in comparison to the other nearby segments.

Though across the entire level, it has an average radiation level of 1000mSv, with its highest peaks being roughly 15000mSv. Although protective gear does exist in the level, they are not immediately accessible and may also be challenging to find due to much of the site being written in Japanese. This language barrier has proved difficult for much of the exploration in Level 754, though with time, these sections have been compiled and detailed. For an example, protective gear for Level 754 sits behind teal blue doors holding white signs which read "防護服". These signs are placed below a small window, which is 50*102cm in size.

Subsections

Through extensive research regarding Level 754, there have been # significant locations within the level that do not fit the earlier details. Below are such cases. There is a possibility that more distinct subsections exist within Level-754, however those areas are yet to be discovered or fully mapped out.

Production Line

Despite damage to Level 754, the production line keeps going.

ProductionLine

Walking through a series of green doors with the kanji "生産" brings wanderers to the Production Line. This part of Level 754 have very low levels of radiation, with its peak barely reaching 700mSv. The production line shows continuous activity and produces a variety of items seen in the Backrooms, such as Flashies and Bottle 'o Voids. Despite near constant use, the Production Line has not produced any faulty items. These are all powered by the level itself, and will only produce one item in each section. All of the items found here are produced on stands that looks similar to 3d printers, and are assembled out of an unknown filament which seems to recreate any physical qualities of the item itself. If there is liquid needed, the filament will rapidly melt into the liquid form as it is injected into the structure.

Once finished, they will be pushed off the stand through a horizontal hydraulic and land in a electronic shipping system which is then sent through a gateway. Chasing after these bots will bring wanders into a random level, and the machine will have seemingly disappeared. Each Production Line has 72 of these printers arranged in a 24 x 3 array. No one has been seen manning or maintaining these systems either, outside of other machines moving through and around it.

Meltdown Zone

An exit out of the meltdown zone, bolted shut from the inside.

MeltdownRoom

The most dangerous sections of Level 754 are within the Meltdown Zone. The section of the level shows high levels of physical tear to its surroundings and melted materials. The ground is commonly made of a mix of now fused together metals that were melted or otherwise fused with the others while Level 754 suffered a meltdown. In certain parts of the Meltdown Zone, skeletal remains can be found there, believed to be the corpses of some of the wanderers and staff present during the meltdown. These sections are incredibly radioactive and have a very high chance of killing those who travel through here, even in proper gear.

Meltdown Zones are barricaded with industrial red doors often having multiple advanced locks and deadbolts securing it, these doors are also marked with the Kanji "危険". Further more, areas within the Meltdown Zone have also had large basins of water present, initially for cooling off the reactors. The sections of water are deeply acidic, and proper gear is required to traverse through these sections. Living tissue that has gone through these parts undergo rapid molecular degeneration, the rate of which has not been studied enough.

Coolant

Enduring damage to Coolants from persistent meltdown conditions.

CBSCoolant

Coolants are one of the few aquatic sectors in Level 754. They are roughly 5 meters in diameter and cool off the radioactive material withing each reactor. There may be an infinite number of reactors and therefore coolants, however, only 10 have been catalogued, with 4 of them in meltdown.

Despite their proximity to radioactivity, the coolants are not hazardous to swim in, outside of the appearance of Glowing Coral. However, if the reactor is undergoing meltdown, coolants will have a staticy appearance to the water, with exploration teams calling them an electric blue hue. Traversing through these coolants will cause severe nerve damage as wanders may be subjected to volts upwards of 5kv. These sections have since been blocked off. Alongside this, machines have been seen in the waters attempting to fix the meltdown, however these machines only seem to fall apart too.

Droid Facility

We still don't know what it's producing.

CCUnknownProduction

This is, supposedly, where the machines are produced for use across Level 754. However, due to the wide variance in designs and functions, it is unknown how true this really is. The kanji on the doors (often a yellow hue) are "ロボット", which translates to robot. Each Droid Facility has a unique layout as well, with a wide array of machinery and technology on the walls and floor. The make and model of these supposedly do come from Japan, due to kanji being written upon it, but its often faded and messy strokes have made deciphering the information nearly impossible.

These sections often have large robots coated in a yellow paint assembling the other machines. These have never shown signs of wear or other damage towards them, even the ones in intensely radioactive areas. The assembly droids have an unknown limit as to what will deactivate or otherwise destroy them, despite its makeup perfectly matching assembly robots in the frontrooms and therefore having a set point of deactivation.

Command Room

The Command Room, nothing has been moved still.

CCCommandRoom

The Command Room is a wide array of levers, screens, and buttons fixed onto teal and light blue metal platting. Many of these have kanji next to them, however, these kanji do not translate to any in Japanese or Mandarin, aside from the door, which is inscribed with the Japanese kanji "束". These triggers do not operate when wanderers interact with them, with many proclaiming that clicking any of the buttons or moving any of the switches are impossible. Despite such sensations, all of them easily move with or without interference, believed to be triggered electrically by the other machines in Level 754.

Command Rooms are also covered in various items that signify human life, such as clothing, lunch containers, and glasses. Moving these have been met with failure, and Command Rooms will switch the placement of items around while the room is not being observed. The cause for this is unknown.

Cayley's Box

The last photographed iteration of Cayley's Box.

CCBlankRoomNoSoup

Cayley's Box was a project developed by liminality specialist Esser Kandrika. Over the course of 4 months, staff worked within Level 754 to make a space with all the same features of the Backrooms. Documentations states that this was developed through the manipulation of frequencies that passed through the level. Cayley's Box was developed in Level 754 because of its readily accessible supply of power, caused by the endless nuclear power produced by said level. However, the experiment was highly speculative and was supposedly unfounded, as there were no other projects exploring such concepts. Resulting from this lack of information, the sub-level suddenly shut down, locking 4 staff members (including Esser Kandirka) inside and causing an eruption as a voidal presence, now known as the nothingness seeped through, using this opening to reach other levels across the Backrooms with eases. The consequences of this failure are still ongoing.

Hazards

A strange alternate outcome for those with BRS, why it happens is unknown.

GlowingMan

Prolonged exposure to radiation damages the ability for cells to reproduce with the same quality as those surrounding it, or losing the ability to reproduce at all. Lack of cellular reproduction causes the body to decay and can also cause new reproduced cells to be cancerous. Majority of areas within Level 754 are irradiated, though some worse than others. Such dangers are anomalously adjusted in Level 754, as a special brand of radiation exists, BRS.

BRS, or Backrooms Radiation Sickness, has a lot of similar elements and risks of regular radiation sickness. However, due to Roth Syndrome also being prevalent within Level 754, radiation sickness seems to combine with Roth Syndrome to form into BRS. When compared to both illnesses, Backrooms Radiation Sickness develops much faster and cause more dramatic effects on the body. Alongside damage to cellular reproduction, BRS can cause a sense of detachment, impending doom, and isolation. Wanderers have described feeling more alone, and in extreme cases, are completely unable to interact with others resulting from the perceived isolation. This has lead to the theory that BRS causes major hallucinations and delusions, though testing for further evidence has posed too great of a health risk to continue study. However measures have been put in place to treat those with BRS, and they have largely shown success (78%) in treating BRS. This treatment has been moved to help treat Roth's Syndrome and generalized radiation exposure, though effectiveness for both have shown much lower success rates (23% and 31% respectively).

One of the largest empty spaces in Level 754, it has still not closed.

EmptySpaceSection

As a direct result of the Cayley's Box Project, sections of nothingness have taken form. These patches appear as uncharacteristically polygonal blocks, each strictly black in hue. These spaces can either take up a two or three dimensional space, and are said to having a pulling sensation alongside them. They vary greatly in size, but every empty space is either a parallelogram or rectangular prism. Empty spaces are believed to be a product of nothingness surging it after its failure. empty spaces only have one known way to combat it, feeding it.

Providing additional matter into the empty space will cause it to close and disappear once reaching its required amount. The connection between volume and required resources is roughly consistent and linear, with very little deviation from the mean. Through exploration via drones, it is believed that after closing, the items within the empty spaces cease to exist entirely. When humans were tested on one such instance, all details and information about them was fully scrubbed after the empty spaced closed. The whereabouts of this person are still unknown, but they are believed to be alive, if not already succumbed to the empty space.

Entities

Artistic depiction of a Walking Fish.

ItosGyo

Within the Level 754 areas more equated to aquatic bodies, Walking Fish and Glowing Coral may be found, these entities are completely unique to Level 754. However, other aquatic entities such as Pool Guards, Hydrolitis Plague, Narco Jellyfish, and other aquatic entities may be present. All of these entities behave more animalistic, simulating a proper wild environment.

Walking Fish, annotated as "磯撫で" in Japanese documents are fish with 4 appendages that work as their legs. Presumed to be a direct result of radiation, Walking Fish use these legs to move about on land, while using their fish qualities to traverse through water. The size of the fish directly vary on what species it is, being an average size for that type. Most interactions with these entities have resulted in it behaving aggressively towards the wanderer(s), this is assumed to be out of hunger, though it doesn't seem required. Walking Fish have been seen producing eggs and birthing baby versions, whether this is done through procreation or asexual reproduction is not known. However, many of these eggs will be placed together, with large groups of the entity surrounding it, sometimes even using Glowing Coral to cover and protect the eggs.

Glowing Coral found in the coolant.

CCCoral

Glowing Coral only appears in areas of Level 754 with sufficient amounts of water. While genetically matching to various species of bioluminescent deep sea coral, how it produces light directly correlates to the dangerous amounts of radiation within all variants of this entity, being close to 800mSv. Those who have interacted with the entity have reported a stinging sensation from touching them, even through layers of clothes. It was later discovered that Glowing Coral all have small barbs on their tendrils, causing the stinging sensation. Further effects of this are yet to be discovered. Despite the barbs, Glowing Coral are often used and eaten by walking Fish without issue.

Most mainland entities in Level 754 also behave more primally then their counterparts in other levels. It is proposed that the swith of mental actions are a result of the radiation within the level. Some of these land-dwelling entities include Hounds, Mercy, and Blood Marrow.

Items

Level 754 produces a unknown number of items, many of which are dispersed across the Backrooms through unknown means. Things such as Almond Water, Greek Fire, and Spice of Life have been seen being produced in large portions in production lines. Though these items may not always translate to the legitimate product, which has left questions as to why certain items are produced in Level 754 and why they may be faulty.

Outposts

煒民

Also referred to as "Glowing People", this base consists of about 21 members. All of which have been affected by BRS, yet have not suffered any fatal effects. These members have concluded to be some sort of advanced group, and because of hostility from the other base, they have sheltered away deep within Level 754. Interactions with the members have only resulted in hostility, so seeking out their base is discouraged.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • Vault doors found in Level 382 may open up to Level 754, though this doesn't seem to be very common.
  • Radiation road signs in Level 157 will blend into Level 754 if someone follows them.
  • Following powerlines through Level 321 will direct wanderers to a source. This is the only known power source that allows entry to Level 754.
  • The green static water splashes found in Level 833 can be used to no-clip into Level 754. This takes on average 10 to 30 seconds to initiate.
  • A rare statue found in Level 896 are the prideful. These are marble statues depicted as soldiers. Digging into the graves nearby the prideful will open up to Level 754, specifically, the main sections. The maximum radius is unknown.

Exits

  • Clipping through Cayley's Box enough times will force wanderers into Level 996, but this is no longer accessible.
  • Getting trapped inside an Empty Space guarantees exit into nothingness when it closes.
  • Purple doors will always open up to Level 660.
  • Doors marked with the numbers "181", when opened, will provide passage into Level 181
  • Were you aware that misnamed doors can have question marks on them, which leads directly to Level 47?
  • The is a random chance that stepping into a Droid Factory, wanderers will clip through the doorway and appear in Level 109. Most commonly they will appear in the processing plant sectors of the level.
