This is a photo of the "sun", the photographer is missing. According to wanderers, the "sun" is always staring at you.

It is strongly suggested not to enter Level 78, since it is infamous for its ability to deceive wanderers into thinking it is secure. Level 78 is described as a strange and warped grassy planet suspended in an endless expanse of blue skies, that is sparsely populated by individual suburban buildings, structures, and strange mushroom-like entities.

Description

Individuals who spawn in this level will be greeted by a bright sun with a classic smile emoji for a face. The spawn area of this Level will seem strangely familiar, and have a resemblance to the hilly grasslands used as wallpapers by many old windows desktop computers. This area will be completely devoid of entities besides the Smiling Sun, but will have an extremely isolating feeling that causes about 12% of Wanderers to begin running in an attempt to avoid the gaze of the ominous sun. When you leave this section of the level, things start to get even stranger.

Starting about 11 km from spawn, houses will begin to appear that will feel disturbingly fake and artificial, and the "sun" will begin to randomly disappear and reappear in the sky, though the Level will remain brightly lit throughout these events. Entering these houses will seemingly lead to a "normal" suburban home, but something will feel very off about the place, to the point that this leads to 20% of those who enter these homes to enter a state of panic and try to exit by any means necessary. Once this happens, they will find that the front door has locked behind them, and will instead seek for any other exit, whether it be backdoor or through a window.

wanderers who have exited the level, the mushrooms appear to be "talking to you psychologically." The mushrooms will say things like "you're not real," "nothing is real," and "wake up." Most people will enter this section by attempted no-clipping while others could enter by entering houses, and once they do, they will automatically have the feeling to run as fast as possible.

Photo-Ocular Syneresis

Photo-Ocular Syneresis is the name given to the anomalous photographic phenomena which occurs on Level 78. For unknown reasons, if you take photos of this level, some of the photos will have text on them. Eyes will manifest after this text is read by a sentient entity, both within the photograph, and around it. It is believed that this is how all Eyes in Level 78 are created, though these claims remain unconfirmed.

Examples:

Entities

This is a depiction of the sun, this is not the actual entity.

The " Smile Sun" is the most noticeable entity of Level 78, as it lingers high in the sky, perpetually smiling. The "sun" seems to be oddly colored, almost like a jumbled mess of code with a smiling face overlaid on top. Although this entity isn't overtly hostile, staring at it for a prolonged period of time can render you only able to see a mass of jumbled static when you open your eyes for a period between 2-5 days. Avoiding this sun is nearly impossible, as no matter which direction you look, it has the anomalous ability to always be somewhere in you're line of sight as long as you're looking at the sky.

This is a photo of the entity.

Shrooms are beings that can sprout from the ground at any moment in Level 78. Observing the creature for more than 30 seconds will cause the Shrooms to develop eyeballs, which if themselves are viewed for more than 30 seconds, result in the observer becoming intoxicated in a manner similar to the effect of psychedelic mushrooms. This can drastically decrease your levels of sanity, and induce a state of panic and paranoia in those under the influence of the Shrooms.

Shrooms have a tendency to grow around individuals who are in a state of panic or fear, and will sprout in pursuit of Wanderers who are running in terror, leaving a trail of mushrooms in their wake. Though frightening, these Shroom Trails can be used to find exits to the Level, or to retrace your steps when you have finally managed to calm yourself down.

This is an attempted photo of The Smile Killer, the photographer is dead.

The Smile Killer is a towering humanoid figure (estimated to be 6ft 8 inches tall) that carries a huge knife in its hand. The Smile Killer is typically depicted as a person wearing a mask with a happy face on it. This entity will only appear whenever the Smiling Sun is missing from the sky, leading some to believe the two to be linked somehow.

Every Wanderer that has encountered this entity has claimed to have become hypnotized and paralyzed with fear when gazing upon the mask of the Smile Killer. Since the Smile Killer only appears momentarily whenever the sun disappears from the sky, this will result in the slow deterioration of a Wanderers mental state until they are either killed by the Smile Killer, or until they commit suicide.

The Eyes are entities that, oddly, solely attack mentally stable wanderers as opposed to those who are already disturbed. They will appear for only a fraction of a second before disappearing, seemingly 'blinking' in and out of existence; as a result, taking a picture of an Eye is nearly impossible.

These entities will only begin to appear as a wanderer nears the end of this level. According to a survivor "They will only stop attacking once you truly start to lose your sanity". Beyond this, there isn't a lot of information available concerning the eyes.

More Information about The Eyes

  • If you try to attack an Eye, it will split into a swarm of dozens of eyes.
  • Some instances possess "angel wings", though these are incredibly rare.

Colonies and Outposts

Making a colony or an outpost is impossible due to the fact that this level is highly difficult to survive in.

Entrances and Exits

This is a photo of someone going through the 1st tunnel in this level.

Entrances

  • This is tough to describe, but you must sleep on any level and will remain on that level while dreaming. You will be exploring this level in your dream, and you will not be able to wake up until you depart; if you die in your dream, you will die in real life. When you wake up, you will be on the same level that you are intended to be on as well as when you leave this level when you are not dreaming.
  • Entity 74 in Level Corrupt has a 21/79 chance of sending you to this level if you are killed by it.
  • There is a potential that you may find two tunnels in the underground tunnel in Level •, and travelling down the first tunnel will always send you here. What happens to those that enter the second tunnel is unclear.

Exits

  • The most typical route to escape this level is through the door at the level's end. This will take you to Level 2000.
  • In other cases, entering the door will transport you to Level 45.
  • Level 243 may be reached via opening a door to a mushroom-shaped dwelling.
