Level 79 is the 80th level of the Backrooms.

Survival Difficulty: Class 3
Unsafe
Unsecure
Moderate Entity Count
Description
Level 79 appears to consist of an infinite amount of apartment elevator lobbies. The elevator lobbies in the level commonly have the same appearance, consisting of 3 standard Mitsubishi brand elevators, light grey tiled floors, white tiled walls with a metal plate with the floor number written on it. Survivors usually arrive on floor 0 of Level 79.
Although the fluorescent lights in the level are functioning at full capacity, usually outputting a standard of 350 to 500 lumens of light per square meter, the brightness seems to diminish drastically by distance. Light levels measurements taken a few centimeters from the fluorescent lights mesure at about 450 lumens per square meter, but measurements taken barely 1 meter away from the fluorescent lights have already dropped to 100 lumen per square meter. The environment of Level 79 seems to absorb light, rather than letting light pass through normally. This creates an effect of a dark room. Flashlights introduced into the level also have the same effect, where the light produced by the flashlight is absorbed by the environment.
The interior of the elevators in Level 79 are standard except one thing, while normal elevators have buttons corresponding to the floors of a building, Level 79’s elevators appear to have replaced them with a number keypad and small display. The keypad has the numbers 0 to 9 and an “enter”, “cancel”, “decimal point” and “minus” button on it. Once a person enters a number onto the keypad and presses enter, the elevator will take them to the floor they chose. Due to this, Level 79 is believed to be functionally infinite, as it can go to any floor number that consists of a real number (Including decimal and negative numbers).
Time while in one of Level 79’s elevators or when calling an elevator seems to be disproportionate. Long distances can commonly be traveled almost in an instance. One survivor has reported that they have once traveled from the 11th floor to the 15084th floor in under 5 seconds, with no acceleration in the speed of the elevator. The waiting time when one calls an elevator in Level 79 is even more unstable. Survivors have reported that elevators can arrive in a fraction of a second, or may take as long as 11 years to arrive, though this is very rare.
It is also noteworthy to mention that if a person goes to a higher floor number, the light absorbing effect of Level 79 becomes less significant with each floor ascended, meaning it gets brighter and brighter further up. Inversely, if a person goes to a floor below 0, the light absorbing effect of the level intensifies with each floor descended. Other than that, It is also believed that the temperature will increase or decrease depending on whether a person ascends or descends past floor 0. The scope of this effect is unclear as there are reports of people traversing and surviving well past the 6000th floor of the level. There are also documented cases of people surviving in floors well past the -270th floor.
It is theorised that floors higher than 3600090504000 will become so hot that the temperature will exceed that of a white dwarf star, around 139144.261 degrees kelvin(138871.111 degrees celsius), it is also theorised that floors that are lower than -40727102940 will be so cold that the temperature will reach absolute zero, exactly 0 degrees kelvin( -273.15 degrees celsius). For context, absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature any substance can get in a thermodynamic scale. It is unknown why the extreme temperatures have not yet destroyed, or at least made Level 79 uninhabitable in the first place.
Doors are also said to appear and dissapear within the elevator lobbies of Level 79, if a person enters one, they may lead random fully furnished apartment units. Inside most of the apartment units, normal everyday essentials like food and water can be found. Rarely, weapon stashes may also be found. Numbered doors are also reported to appear occasionally and are the primary way of exiting Level 79.
Other than the temperature and spatial anomalies of Level 79, random anomalous events also take place. They can vary from harmless events, to events that seriously endanger human life. Several anomalous events have been documented in the log below.
Class: Harmless
Description: A survivor was wating for an elevator to arrive. When the elevator arrived and the door opened, approximately 2 cubic meters of sea water came rushing out of the elevator. The survivior was knocked down and washed serveal meters away from the elevator entrace. No unusual substances were found, it was just plain sea water.
Class: Harmless
Description: A survivor was taking the elevator to the 935th floor, during the elevator ride, the survivor reported hearing faint distorted ice-cream truck music, despite the lack of a speaker system in the elevator. The music stopped when the survivor exited the elevator.
Class: Harmless
Description: A survivor reported that once they had exited the elevator to a floor, the walls and ceilling of the floor started flashing black and white, increasing in frequency. After a few moments, the survivor noticed that the walls and ceilling have settled in a black and purple checker pattern. The survivor also noted that the pattern was simmilar to when a texture was missing in the game: Garry's Mod.
Class: Harmful
Description:The survivor noted that once they entered a certain floor, they could hear a soft high pitched charging sound, slowly getting more and more high pitch. Moments later the survivor reported that a sudden flash of light engulfed the entire floor. The survivor was rendered blind for a few minutes and later discovered that they have suffered 1st degree burns on exposed skin.
Class: Harmful
Description:A survivor reported that when they entered a floor, they could see black, thin arms seemingly made with tar emerging from the walls, cellings and floor. When the arms reached full length, they started wildly flailing and grabbing at the survivor, the survivor immediately tried to call the elevator back and struggle against the arms. The elevator came back and the surivor broke free by severing one of the tar arms. The survivor got away with minor cuts all around his body and a dislocated shoulder.
Class: Very Harmful
Description: This is a found footage of a survivor's last moments. The survivor was resting in a certian floor, a door appeared next to the survivor. Hoping to find supplies, the survivor entered the door. Little did he know that the room was actually filled with Morphers. The instant he stepped into the room, he was impaled multiple times by several Morphers posing as tables. The survivor promptly died of severe blood loss and trauma .Entities
Entities may reside in multiple floors of Level 79. Documented Entities within Level 79 include: Facelings, Hounds, Smilers, Skin-Stealers, Death Moths and Lighers. Level 79 is also home to entities called Morphers. Another thing to note is that, low floor numbers seem to have more entities within them, so it is advised that unprepared explorers do not go to the lower floors of Level 79.
Colonies and Outposts
Most of the groups in Level 79 are small groups of survivors or wanderers. There are, however, several notable groups in the level.
The Elevatorus Federation
- This colony is the main presence in Level 79.
- This colony's goal is to take control of the level by establishing multiple outposts in different floors of the level using the elevators in the level.
- Currently, they have functioning leadership, scouting and guard personnel totalling about 150 people. They are also activly trying to recruit people to their cause.
- They are not open for trading, but will occatioanlly take pity on wanderers.
The Apartment Dweller's Union
- This colony activly seeks out the apartment doors that occasionally appear in the floors of Level 79.
- They also "rent" out the apartment units that they found to other people in exchage for supplies.
- Their main base of operation seems to be in an apartment unit located on the 2844th floor.
Outpost Thea of the A.E.A (Anti-Entity Agency)
- After the collapse of the A.E.A, this outpost is still operational and is manned by around 40 people.
- They are well armed and due to their background as A.E.A personnel, are quite capable in combat.
- They activly search and destroy entites in Level 79. They are know to even help other groups in the level from being attacked by entities.
- They will trade supplies, but do not tend to trade away weapons.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- One can enter this level just by noclipping out of the floor of any elevator in the Backrooms.
