Template:Class Environmental Deadzone
This is a snapshot of the vacuum on Level 82, which has been corrupted. The reason for this is that the temperature has risen to the point that all of the photos in the camera have become corrupted.
Level 82 is the 83rd level of the backrooms

Level 82: Corrupting Heat
Level 82 appears to be a void, and has been described as a spectrum of greys fused with a gradient of darkness. A black archipelago can be seen drifting throughout the black expanse, and are believed to be the only landforms on this Level. These islands have a strong gravitational attraction, though the reason for this remains unknown.
The island you spawn on in Level 82 is the island you'll be stuck on until you discover an escape, since the gravity is so strong that you won't be able to get off of it. If you're lucky, your spawn place will be on one of the larger islands, where finding an exit will be easy, but if you spawn on a smaller island, reaching an exit will be more difficult.
Three black spheres are said to float in the sky on this level, resembling a cluster of glowing stars. Thie heat produced by these "stars" will gradually warm the level to the melting point of iron (around 5,000 degrees) over the course of 3 days, but you will most likely die of heat stroke long before it reaches that point. Only a small number of entities are able to exist on this level, but that doesn't make them any less strange.
Entrance to the Vagniterattra Temple
Islands
The floating islands of the Level 82 archipelago appear to completely be covered in ancient pyramids and labyrinthian temples made of a black stone that reflects back the dark light of the Black Suns, eerily illuminating the islands like beacons in the grey expanse. There are currently 6 islands that have been documented by travelers who managed to escape the level, with a 7th island which has only been mentioned but never been explored. These islands have come to be known as:
- Vagniterattra, characterized by vast labyrinthian temples bearing a resemblance to Hindu architecture. These temples make up the entirety of the island, and gravity is known to be reversed for the bottom levels of the temple. Individuals who spawn on this island will spawn within a part of the temple. If they manage to pass through one of the main gates of the temple on the bottom side, they will be transported to Level 249.
- Teochihua, characterized by vast cities interwoven into mountains, which have an architecture that appears to be a fusion of ancient Aztec with modern day city architecture. Entering though any elevator within one of the Aztec skyscraper buildings will transport you to the Sci-Fi Sector of Level 184.
- Xu Kong, characterized by a barren, mountainous terrain with very few structures placed in isolated, difficult to reach regions of the island. These structures will bear a resemblance to Buddhist shrines and be made completely out of stone. Beneath these shrines will be an entrance; if one chooses to pass through this entrance, they will be transported to Level 249.
- Babel, characterized by its vast, slum-like cities of buildings made of iron scraps that somehow remain stable and are able to rise into the sky like skyscrapers scattered across the surface of the island. These buildings become incredibly hot as the temperature increases, and eventually collapse and melt completely under the heat of the Black Suns. However, every time the temperature decreases, they are somehow reformed once again. Reaching the top of one of these buildings is the only way to exit this island. Upon reaching the top, you will be transported to Level 679.
- Steroi, characterized by its resemblance to an asteroid in shape except for being completely covered in closed windows of various shapes and sizes, that lead into pitch black space inside. These windows seem to impossible to open, however, very rarely a window will shine with bright, piercing white light. These windows can be opened, and passing through them will transport you to the Bright Sector of Level 184.
- Xandros, characterized by a vast megalopolis with buildings bearing a fusion of ancient Greek and ancient Egyptian architecture, except scaled up to the size of modern high rising buildings. Reaching the top of one of these buildings will transport you to the Futuristic Sector of Level 184.
- Unnamed, characterized by the fact that no one who has ever spawn on the island has survived to tell the tale, leading others to question if anyone has ever spawned on the island in the first place. This island does not seem to reflect the light of the Black Suns, and so what lies on its surface remains mostly a mystery.
Logs
These logs are from an explorer named "Frrdyiscool", the explorer has unfortunately died from the immense heat. It is unknown which island he spawned in.
Log 1
Frrdyiscool: What is this place, this place looks so weir- [the audio cuts out and then static played].
[The majority of the audio is static. Short excerpts of the explorer's discussion are heard, but they are obscured by static.]
[However, the last half of the audio is surprisingly audible; the audio sounds incredible for an old tape-recorder.]'
Frrdyiscool: What was that, how did I teleport back on the island? [The tape ends]
It seems like Frrdyiscool has fell off of the island and somehow teleported back on the same island.
Log 2
Frrdyiscool: Why is it so hot, oh thank god I have water. [While static gradually fades in, Frrdyiscool begins to drink the water. As soon as he finishes the water, the static stops.]
Frrdyiscool: Oh man, its like an oven in here, where is the damn exit. [Frrdyiscool begins walking for around 4 minutes.]
Frrdyiscool: What is this, oh it's a peice of paper. [Frrdyiscool picks up the peice of paper and sees something unnerving on the paper.]
Frrdyiscool: W-what the f-f#ck is this. Who drew th- [The audio cuts off, and instead of static, the sound of fire is heard.]'
[The sound plays for the rest of the tape]
The sound of fire was most likely caused by the explorer's flammable items. These things were most likely set ablaze by the level's extreme heat. There are no more logs from the explorer, due to the fact that the explorer has died from a heat stroke.
Entities
A Depiction of Zalgo
Zalgo
This level's one of 2 entities is Zalgo. Zalgo is a 8'4 inhuman monster that tricks wanderers into believing they must listen to it to find an exit from Level 84. Zalgo will constantly advise travelers to perform the following tasks:
- Jump off of an island. Zalgo says this will send you to Level Infinity, but it just teleports you back to the island that you were on.
- Dig in the ground and find rocks. Zalgo says performing this will take you to Level 83, but it actually does nothing.
- Screech for more than 3 minutes nonstop. Zalgo says this will take you to Level Smiler, but it also does nothing.
- Zalgo tells all travelers it encounters that dying on this level will simply take you to Level 10, but again, nothing happens, and you'll just die.
If you ignore or fail to comply with Zalgo's requests, it will begin to taunt you and challenge you to a brawl; if you win, you will be sent to Level 83, but if you lose, you will die. To date, no entity has managed to tame or befriend Zalgo. It is also said that Zalgo devours the corpses of those it defeats, and those who have expired due to the immense heat. Zalgo does not seem to be affected by this heat, though it's exact level of tolerance has never been observed, with some speculating that it may leave the level through an undisclosed exit when it gets too hot for even it to exist there. Examples of taunts used by Zalgo include:
- Who are you praying to? Them? (Motions to Xandros as it floats across the horizon) 'Mans Defenders'... They prayed to me once long ago too you know; and now their ruins are here, with me.
This is a zoomed in photo of the sun when it isn't split up.
The Black Suns
The black sun is a single entity that can split into numerous black holes masquerading as "black stars." When this occurs, the Black Suns have the ability to raise the temperature of the level to above 5000 degrees before returning to its baseline temperature of 27 °C. This change in temperature will take place over the course of 3 days and is usually followed by 2 days of stable temperature before resuming the cycle all over again.
However There is a small chance that the entity wont split up for a large period of time. During these times, some have tried to set up colonies on this Level, though none have remained for very long once the heat cycle resumed. Zalgo will be noticeably absent during these periods as well. Very little if anything is known about these Black Suns, however some have told of the levels other entity, Zalgo, making taunting comments that would imply it knows more about this Black Sun than it lets on. A few of these comments include:
- I once knew a people who worshipped the sun. (Gazes off at Teochihua as it passes along the horizon) They thought their 'sacred' flame could protect them from anything, from me. So I took it from them.
Colonies and Outposts
Due to the intense heat, no colony or outposts have been established. Heat resistant technology must advance significantly before this is possible.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- If you sleep in one of the beds in Level 81, then you will have a small chance of entering here.
- Falling through a pothole in Level Smug (Joke Level) will send you here.
