Level 84 is the 85th level of the Backrooms.
Description
Picture of the buildings in Level 84.
The virtually infinite space of Level 84 is composed of an amalgamation of buildings jammed together in an eccentric system, leaving little to no space for those who desire to wander around the streets of the area. Constituted mainly of 20-story edifices and neoclassic houses, the structures seem to be divided into groups of fractals, easily visible from a bird's eye view. It doesn't show variations from the two types of constructions presented before, molding strange, but unique connections between those fractals, which forges the mangled reality of Level 84.
As it's commonly found throughout the Backrooms, linear space in Level 84 is heavily different from the one found in The Frontrooms. In certain parts of the level, buildings are connected through non-intuitive space, seeming to exhibit non-Euclidean geometry. The general space of the level is unstable, with the possibility of modifying its areas randomly. This makes orientation by navigation devices nearly impossible, transforming the level into a maze-like area. There is only one structure on the level that can't be moved by those properties: a 32-kilometer tall volcano, containing more than 56 million cubic kilometers of material inside it. Reports have shown that it has erupted since the level was discovered, although it wasn't even close to its true destruction potential. The volcano is active, but its destiny is solely decided by the randomness of the level.
Most of the buildings present in the level appear to be completely furnished, albeit the structure of the edifices are slightly damaged. In contrast, most structures are either locked or with no apparent entrances. Some of them contain entryways to basements, although they haven't been documented yet. Rooms inside the constructions can appear similarly on different domiciles, but with different furniture.
Entities are generally very scarce in Level 84. The biggest community of these beings are Facelings. Sightings of Hounds and Deathmoths have been described, although they aren't nearly as common as the other one.
Colonies and Outposts
Due to the nature of the level, colonies and outposts are unfeasible to be sustained for long periods of time.
Epilogue
The sun rises again. This time, with a quite unsettling landscape; as the dystopian future was right in front of the eyes of the explorers in Level 84, carbon dioxide spreads quickly through the buildings of the area. The first incident wasn't enough of a warning, as buildings close to the volcano functioned as shelter to some.
Moments later, the first clouds started to form. The horizon was tenebrous. Soon enough, magma also started to come to the surface, establishing the start of the end of the Level 84 we knew of. Of course, magma alone isn't enough to destroy a level, but what comes along with it surely is.
As pressure kept building up, the future of the city was starting to become worse by the second. Hours later, the first tephras started to glide through the level, demolishing whatever it landed on. Some of the most extreme ones were bigger than the houses settled there. As it thumped on the bigger buildings, many of them collapsed, causing a domino effect.
The gases soon were dispersed all through Level 84. The concentration levels of CO2 in the atmosphere were estimated to be higher than 20%, enough to kill an average person. The only escape had existed for years, although not explored by the majority of the wanderers.Level 84 is the 85th level of the Backrooms.
Description
Level 84 takes place after a seemingly post-apocalyptic occurrence on the surface. After the volcano erupted, it destroyed the majority of the buildings by the surreal amounts of tephra that flied over the level. The carbon dioxide levels and the elevated temperature on the atmosphere makes the current version of the area inhabitable, leaving only one shelter beneath the known properties of the homogenous skyline.
An ever-expanding bunker hides under the city present in Level 84, accessible by multiple edifices scattered through the exterior parts of the region
