Level 868 is the 869th level of the Backrooms.

Level 868 is an incredibly large metal complex, the level is completely made up of interconnected tunneling networks and rooms of varying sizes. Within the many tunnels and rooms systems of channels, canals, and piping are commonly found. These systems transport a strange anomalous liquid all throughout the Level. The tunneling of Level 868 is all completely interconnected, if viewed from top down the network of tunnels somewhat resembles the shape of an incredibly large web. None of these tunnels lead to dead ends, instead they simply branch off and conjoin forming a much larger network. Those who find themselves lost in Level 868 can comfort themselves knowing that every corridor they turn will only lead to another fork in the road.
The circular metal tunnels that run throughout Level 868 are often large and can have a diameter of anywhere between 6 to 680 feet. If a straight vertical line was run through the entirety of Level 868 from top to bottom, the diameter of the level itself, and thus the massive network of tunnels, would span an incredible 16,287,878 miles or exactly 86,000,000,000 feet across. The tunnels themselves are made from a mystery alloy that hasn’t been named or identified, however it is known that this alloy is prone to rust. In fact the tunnels and rooms of the level are so badly rusted that the alloy's original appearance is severely warped or in some cases forever gone, replaced by the thick layers of red and orange that have completely consumed the metal. The Alloys rust is caused by a liquid that actively flows throughout the tunnel network through canals, channels, and pipes. The liquid can be found almost everywhere on Level 868 and it's known as Cerebro water. Cerebro water flows out of large drainage pipes that are connected to deposits from Sub Level 868-1 and into the channels of the main complex. Each tunnel has a metal walk space or bridge (made up of the rusted mystery alloy) that allows bipedal entities and humans alike to traverse the level easily. Underneath this bridging flows the Cerebral water through its own sophisticated complex of channels and pipes. Cerebral water has many fascinating properties while also being extremely dangerous if used improperly. If consumed in its raw form the subject will begin having extreme hallucinations, these hallucinations can be described as “memories that don’t belong to you”. In other words the subject begins having hallucinations of someone else's memories. This causes extreme panic and mania as the brain of the subject tries determining whether these invasive memories belong to it or not, the hallucinations end once the subject has died of extreme cranial expansion and spinal fluid drainage.
Tubs like these can be found all throughout the rooms of Level 868's complex. Each tub is filled with exactly 6800 fluid ounces of Cerebro water, submerged within the Cerebro water are the brains of humans and entities. The photo is distorted due to the levels anomalous activity.
The rooms found around Level 868’s complex are all hexagonal in shape, but are found in completely random sizes, the smallest of these rooms was recorded to be 680 square feet. These rooms can be entered through large metal doors located near forks in the path where tunnels split. The contents of these rooms vary depending on how close or far away the room is from the center of the Level. Rooms located closer to the center often contain small stashes of supplies, Almond water among many other items can be found here. Rooms located farther from the center contain no supplies. However what all rooms in Level 868 have in common is that they all contain mysterious metal tubs. These tubs are all filled with exactly 6,800 fluid ounces of Cerebro water, and submerged within that Cerebro water are brains. The brains found within these tubs have all been identified as belonging to humans. Whats even more unsettling is the fact that these brains are being kept alive while submerged in the Cerebro water.
Level 868 experiences a plethora of anomalous activity, photographs taken in the level often come out looking bizarre and distorted. Communications devices work at random, they can be reliable for a short time before the frequency switches to either the sounds of whispering (theorized to come from the preserved conscious brains), or the signal of a strange radio station that plays classical music popular in the Frontrooms, this radio station is operated within the level. There are very few lights throughout the level yet it remains well lit, some areas have dimmer lighting than others but it's never dark. It's been reported that some people experience the extreme urge to run away when approaching a metal door that leads to a room, or when approaching one of the large drainage pipes that the Cerebral water flows from.
If you end up on this level unintentionally you are at the mercy of the creatures that populate this level, it is the native home of a unique type of entity called the Homunculus. The Homunculus has not been documented on any other level of the Backrooms as of yet. You will roughly have about 8 hours before the Homunculus find and judge you, you cannot stop this process unless you find an escape and no-clip out of the level on your own or find an exit.

The Homunculus
The Homunculus is the only form of entity found (with it's brain intact) on this level. The average Homunculus appears as a smaller man that stand roughly 2 feet in height, however this smaller man has grossly disproportionate limbs and features. There hands are larger than there arms and there mouths, tongues, eyes, ears and nose's are also very large compared to rest of there small bodies. The Homunculi live together in a very large group towards the center of the levels complex which they refer to as the Cerebrum. The Homunculi are also extremely intelligent and posses the ability of telepathy which they use to communicate with lesser organisms. As well as telepathy they also have the ability of telekinesis which they can use to restrain humans or entities. They are very friendly and welcoming to those who they choose to let into there colony. However those who wonder into the level by accident face a much more distressing fate.
The Homunucli routinely patrol the tunnels and rooms of the levels complex, if you are caught by them they will judge you. Using there telekinetic and telepathic abilities they can put you into a sort of stasis, now unable to move they approach you and peer into your mind to see what kind of a person you are. Those of less intelligence are usually rejected, they will be no-clipped into a random level and be disregarded. Those with medium to high intelligence have there minds thoroughly inspected. If the Homunculi find themselves a "good" person who has done many things in there life considered to be of high morale value than they remove and preserve the brains of this person by submerging it into one of the many tubs filled with Cerebro water. This "good" person who has now had there brain removed remains conscious, the Homuncli put them into a brain tub where they remain in a dream state for the next century and live out there wildest fantasies until finally being put to rest. The left over body of the subject is put to use, the reproductive organs are removed and also preserved. Any functioning wombs or testicles that contain live sperm are preserved and sent to the reproduction chamber located in the Cerebrum. In a bizarre process the persevered sperm is grown inside a preserved womb where eventually that sperm grows into a new Homunculus. Female eggs are not required to grow this Homunculus. These recycled wombs can be reused 68 times before being discarded. That is the fate of a person who the Homunculus deem "good", those who are considered "bad" because they have done many things in the there life considered to be of low morale value receive a worse fate. Upon deeming a person "bad" they remove there brain and all of the "bad" persons memories and any form of consciousness gets deleted, they essentially become a blank slate.
