Level 899 is the 900th level of The Backrooms, and one of the most chaotic.
Description
Level 899 is a shape-shifting landscape that stretches on for miles and miles, possibly to infinity. The time in between these changes in appearance, also called Terrain Shifts, are undetermined, but it is estimated to be somewhere around 20-40 minutes, however some say that it is random. The level is enshrouded in a white mist, limiting visibility. There are very few entities in this level due to the harsh conditions, but there are other dangers, such as:
- Hailstorms and Sandstorms - These can become more dangerous at any time, so it is recommended to set up a shelter immediately when entering the level.
- Changing temperature - Without warning, this level's temperature can either increase or decrease. The lowest it has been recorded to go was -62°C, with the highest being 108°C.
There is one constant in Level 899 - it is very hard to survive here, due to the unstable nature of the level. The random shape-shifting, constant hailstorms and sandstorms and changing temperature, make it near impossible to survive for extended periods of time in Level 899.
Zones of Level 899
Level 899 is mostly made up of different 'zones'. These zones are large areas with similar characteristics. There have been 3 different recorded zones, which are:
- Sub-Zero Zones - These are typically icy areas with sub-zero temperature, hence the name.
- Scorching Zones - These are typically deserts with unbearably high temperatures. Stay out of these areas at all costs.
- Infested Zones - Entities are very common here, ranging from common entities to rare entities. These are one of the most dangerous areas, and one of the only places in the level that entities are found.
Not all areas of 899 are zones however; there are some independent areas too.
Colonies & Outposts
Due to the sheer danger that Level 899 poses, no one has successfully formed a lasting colony. There have been several attempts, but all have failed.
Entrances
- Walking into a very cold area of any level has a small chance of teleporting one to a Sub-Zero Zone.
Exits
- There are no confirmed exits, but some people have claimed to escape this level. Here are a few claims:
- Touching a wire will transport you to Level 3.
- Breaking through the ground will open up a hole into The Void.
- No-clipping into a Smiler in an Infested Zone will lead to Level Smiler.
