Level 98 is the 99th Level of the Backrooms
Level 98 consists of an extremely bright, pulsing, and colorful surroundings. The walls and floors seem to be made out of multiple pulsating colors, moving around in strange patterns. Anyone who has entered this level experiences severe visual damage and hallucinations if not prepared. For the protection of the reader and any Wanderer, no photographs of Level 98 have been taken. Level 98 contains multiple rooms, each brighter and more colorful than the last.
Room 1: This is the entrance. The colors are dull compared to the rooms ahead, however, suddenly finding yourself in this room will cause temporary blindness and eye-damage. The pulsating color pattern of this room is a circle, starting from where the Wanderer is standing. Finding the entrance to Room 2 is extremely difficult, because whenever the Wanderer moves, the pattern shifts and becomes worse. Pouring Almond Water in your eyes dulls the colors, and makes the pulsing more still. Closing your eyes has little to no effect. The door to Room 2 can be opened when the pulsing pattern matches up with a specific spot on the ground. Separating the room into a grid, the entrance to Room 2 is in grid five, seven squares to the left. In simpler terms, walk forward five steps, and walk seven steps to the left. A tall rectangle will seem to open in the room, brighter and more colorful than the rest of the room. That is Room 2.
Room 2: The colors and pulsations in this room are more aggressive. It is advised that you exit this room immediately, or go back to Room 1. Staying in this room for too long will cause lasting eye damage, as well as a searing afterimage of the room. The pulsation pattern extends out from an unknown source in the shape of a triangle, and does not follow the user. Similar to Room 1, Room 2’s patterns gets worse when the Wanderer moves. Pouring Almond Water will help, but it won’t last long. The entrance to Room 3 can be opened by stepping on all three points of the triangle. When all the points are hit, the middle of the triangle will open up, and the entrance to Room 3 will be visible.
Room 3: Being in this room for more than fifteen minutes will cause permanent eye damage and may lead to blindness. The pulsing patterns on the ground seem to move in a heptagonal pattern. No one has found a way past this level with their eyesight, as moving from the spot you entered will cause blindness as the pattern grows stronger and more complex whenever you move. If you stay in this room for more than 30 minutes, you will be transported back to Level 0
Room 4: It is unknown what this Room looks like. Any blind wanderer poor enough to stumble their way in here reported it to be searing hot, like the brightness of the room has affected them more than visually.
Room 5: Only one person has made it this far. The Wanderer, however, lost communication after screaming at the top of her lungs, over and over again, “It burns!” An unconfirmed theory states that Lighter originate from Room 5.
Entities
An entity known simply as the “Monochrome” is one of the only entities that can withstand this level. Lighter might also inhabit Room 5, but it is unconfirmed. Due to its direct connection to Level Fun, Partygoers sometimes pass through Level 98.
