Description
Level 998 has the appearance of an abandoned warehouse, with old machinery dating back to the mid 1880s all over the place, usually in the crevices. The entities in this level have not yet been documented by MEG, but they are similar to Hounds and Smilers, but they are neutral and only attack when provoked by a wanderer. Level 998 is also known to have leaks of red liquid presumed to be Liquid Pain dripping from the pipes and some of the machinery. The only true danger besides the entities in this level is that at nighttime the temperatures decreases to dangerously low as 20 to 5 Celsius, which is cold enough to kill any wanderer not in a shelter in the boiler rooms. The boiler rooms are where most of this level’s residents reside in shelters to survive the night. Any wanderer that comes too close to the core of the boiler rooms, the temperature will increase up to 32 to 50 Celsius, which is high enough to cause severe injuries. The machinery is also observed to have spills consisting of some kind of liquid, which is leaking out of it at times. It was thought to be grease from the machinery, but when the liquid was observed by a wanderer in different temperatures, it is stated to have dangerous thermal properties, which proves that it isn't just grease, but something else entirely. The following thermal effects are stated as followed:
- The liquid seems to start freezing after the temperature is below 15 Celsius;
- Any wanderer who touches the frozen liquid is observed to start freezing from the point where they touched the frozen liquid until they are fully frozen.
Most wanderers who touch the frozen liquid will usually die in a minute or two after touching the liquid. This liquid will also start boiling after the temperature is above 35 Celsius in places near the core of the boiler rooms. When a wanderer comes in contact with the boiling liquid, they will get severe burns that burn up to the bone resulting in death after 30 seconds to a minute after touching the boiling liquid. It is advised that anyone who plans on adventuring in areas of the boiler rooms that are close to the core to wear at least the following to be safe:
- Fireproof pairs of heavy-duty boots;
- Thick fireproof jeans;
- Thick fireproof hat;
- A thick long fireproof sleeved shirt.
Colonies And Outposts
There is currently only one known colony in this level, called the “The Residents of Level 998”
The Residents of Level 998
- Has a population of about 60-80 members;
- Willing to trade with wanderers;
- Will guide any wanderers to their base safe from the night;
- Actively doing expeditions during the day to find a reliable exit to evacuate everyone.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
There currently is no confirmed way to enter this level, but it is hypothesized that if you no-clip through a rusty building in Level -5, you will be brought here.
Exits
As of now, there are only three confirmed exits:
- No-clipping through the pipes and machinery which will lead one to Level 3;
- If you manage to survive the heat near the core of the boiler rooms and no-clip through the core, you will be transported to the boiler rooms in Level 5.
- If you manage to find your way outside the warehouse, through no clipping or door or any hole, you will find yourself in a flat land with a flag in the distance. Walk towards the flag until it disappears and you will end up near the western border of the Main Circuit in Level 278.
