Level ALPHAOMEGA is a mythical level, and a supposedly unreachable, untouchable sacred domain that is considered as one of the greatest mysteries of The Backrooms.

An artistic depiction of the Throne Room.

Description

Level ALPHAOMEGA is better known as the "Throne Room" and "Core of the Backrooms", but also called the "Heart of the Void" by some cults.

Worshiped mainly by the Voidseeker cult, who are very secretive and will not hesitate to kill or even torture others in order to protect the sanctity of their teaching. Apparently, the secret leaked by internal division that seeks to "End the Backrooms", or so they claimed. The rumors initially leaked as an unknown, nameless location that cannot be reached by normal means, as it is located "outside of time and space" but holds the greatest treasure to ever exist. Some theorized it to be the real end level of the Backrooms, but some denied the theory, telling that the room is not the end OF The Backrooms, but the way to end The Backrooms itself. Due to this, some called it the "Reset Room", or the "Save Room", as there's a theory that whoever enters and uses the room could wipe out the current version of The Backrooms, then either update or restore it.

There's no certain, reliable description of Level ALPHAOMEGA, other than loosely floating rumors heard across The Backrooms. The general consensus does however agree that the "Throne Room" is a sacred, forbidden chamber with regal architecture, almost seeming divine but does not belong to any mythology or culture known to mankind. At the center of the level is speculated to be a great throne, and supposedly, a crown, that is said to hold an immeasurable power. The "Crown of the Throne" is generally used to refer to the two objects under one title, and is widely regarded as the ultimate form of power possible in The Backrooms.

As for right now, the Hallowed Gate is the closest candidate to be the physical location and identity behind Level ALPHAOMEGA due to numerous similarity between the two. Although this is merely a speculation, and more research pending to determine the theory, or whether the two has any connection to begin with.

Entities

Due to the mysterious existence of the level, it's impossible to tell what may reside here.

Colonies and Outposts

Due to the mysterious existence of the level, there's unlikely any semblance of society here.

Entrances and Exits

Due to the mysterious existence of the level, there's no confirmed methods to enter and exit the realm. The location of the level is still undetermined, and considered as nothing but rumor for many. However, there are many hints mentioning the level, to the point that its existence is something undeniable in The Backrooms, regardless of whether it truly exist or not.

For the list of hints, please refer to the next section.

Evidence

The first documented evidence of Level ALPHAOMEGA was first discovered from a note left behind in The Hub by an unknown author. Several copies of the note exist in other levels, and seem to be made by the same person, with the same message:

"Do not be fooled, for the quest to the end does not truly end the nightmare. Seek not for escape, but salvation for all. Only the Crown of the Throne can truly save all, regardless dead or alive. End the nightmare. Seek the truth."

More evidence was later discovered in other levels. Most commonly, any level with unstable lighting such as Level 1 would sometimes display messages written with blood on any writable surfaces, usually on the wall, floor or ceiling, saying that:

"The Alpha and the Omega. The beginning of the end. The path to the nameless room shall be forgotten to the end of eternity, lest the stars aligned. Long live the Reign of the Crown upon the Throne."

There's no pattern to the anomaly, as it simply appears and disappears out of nowhere. The chance for it to happen is approximately one in a million.

Other methods to obtain the messages are including;

  • Run "topsecret_ALPHA_OMEGA" on the computer in The End and the system will cease to function for approximately 99 seconds, displaying only a black screen with the message in white font.
  • Order any menu on The Snackroom with "a side/sprinkle/topping of truth" or with any variation of the phrase. You will receive a small note on the receipt, containing the handwritten version of the message.

There are several other variations of the message, most notoriously in Level 3999 that is sometimes seen during the last year of the quest, but only can be seen in certain specific individuals that apparently fulfilled an unknown criteria. The message would randomly occur once every few days, weeks, even months, in any of the game's screens, with similar visuals to the message in The End but with different content:

"The Frontroom is nothing but an escape. Are you sure that you want to quit the game? An infinite power awaits. Promise of eternal life in everlasting bliss. Find the Key of Salvation and the Crown of the Throne shall be yours."

The same message can be found in The Promised Land but as some sort of hallucination, visions or dreams that also only occurred to certain individuals. Overall, most believed that only the "chosen one" could receive these messages, which would eventually spawn the Voidseeker cult, as many peoples became obsessed with seeking the truth.

For further information, please refer to the next section.

The Five Treasures of the Void

Initially discovered from the message in Level 3999 and The Promised Land, the search for the "Key of Salvation" lead to four other legendary artifacts, each revealed by their own mysterious messages, and can be triggered through specific conditions across the Backrooms. Each of them are mythical items of unknown origins, but there are many theories regarding their existence. In general, the Five Treasures of the Void are considered some of the most powerful anomalous objects in the Backrooms.

Key of Salvation

  • Description: According to the rumor, is a golden key that glows with soothing warmth. On the key is inscribed "To the Beginning of the End at the Center of Infinity" in cursive.
  • Location: Unknown, but many believed that The Keymaster has the key. There's no concrete evidence of the claim, but The Keymaster implied that it does exist. However, he believes that nobody is worthy of it.
  • Message: The message can be found in any levels that speculated to be the exit of the Backrooms, such as Level 3999 and The Promised Land, in addition of a theory that Level 9223372036854775807 also has the same message that mentioned the key, but there's no concrete evidence of the claim.

"The Frontrooms is nothing but an escape. Are you sure that you want to quit the game? An infinite power awaits. The promise of eternal life in everlasting bliss. Find the Key of Salvation and the Crown of the Throne shall be yours."

Eye of God

  • Description: A name tied to the Church of Tiana regarding the red supergiant of Level 11 that once decimated the atmosphere when it created a supernova. It's uncertain whether the "Eye of God" mentioned in the secret message is really the same entity worshipped by the cult or not.
  • Location: No confirmed evidence of its existence so far, but due to its strong resemblance of the name worshiped by the Church of Tiana, then it's theorized that the item located somewhere in Level 11 - assuming that it still exists.
  • Message: Originated from the scripture of any cults related to the item;

"Be blinded not by the Light of the Heaven, as the Eye of God is one among the Five Sacred Relics to open the Gate to the Alpha and the Omega, that shall be remain untouched. Glory to the Crown of the Throne, the Core of the Backrooms."

Crimson Heart

  • Description: Currently, there's no reliable description of this item. Some said it resembles a real, anatomical heart of a certain being, but some theorized it to be a nonliving object or even a location. Many believed that the heart refer to the Crimson Wanderer, but the most denied the theory, considering how the passage depict the treasure as an obtainable item.
  • Location: Theorized to be Level ! or some other levels that revolve around an unusually extreme level of violence. Some said that killing a certain number of monsters will grant the heart, but so far, the theory has not been proven. Another theory believed that the heart refer to the level itself, or a secret, hidden part of the level. The theory imply that the "heart" is the living, beating core of the level.
  • Message: A variation of the bloody message that is often seen in Level 1 or any places with unstable lighting;

"Blessed by the ritual of Bloodbath to purge the Sinners from the world, the Chosen shall embark the path of Bloodshed and reach to the Crimson Heart, with beating echoes that shall guide them to the Alpha and Omega."

Tome of Knowledge

  • Description: A mythical book of unknown detail, that is said to contain the greatest secrets of The Backrooms. There are several books known across The Backrooms that are theorized to be the Tome of Knowledge.
  • Location: Most likely a level where books are stored, such as Level 244, but most believed that Level 33 and Level 230 are where the book was kept. The most popular theory believed that The Storyteller is the master of the book, but some said that the Tralfamadorians of Level 5 are the holder of the artifact.
  • Message: Commonly mentioned in any random book, paper, or similar media across The Backrooms;

"Seeker of Knowledge, Rejoice, for thy has been chosen to discover the Truth of the Alpha and Omega! Seek the Tome of Knowledge, and every tales of the past, present and future would be revealed before your very eyes."

Card of Truth

  • Description: Currently, the physical description of the item is a highly debatable topic. Some said it's a poker card, a tarot card, or even a memory card. Due to this, this is the most difficult item to locate among the five treasures.
  • Location: The most common theory depicts the card as an electronic, so a place with sufficiently advanced technology such as Level 202 and Level 28 are often the destination that those who seek the item will search.
  • Message: Can be seen in various media, but initially discovered by opening CARD0.txt on the computer terminal in The End ;

"Myriads of consciousness seeking the One across the Infinite, but there's little but no light across the Void. The Key may open the gate at the Center of Infinity, but the Card is the ticket to the journey. It is the only way to search for the Truth across the endless nothingness. Obtain the Card of Truth, and the path would be revealed."

Other Theories

There are hundreds of known theories regarding Level ALPHAOMEGA and everything related to the level, including the treasures and their cultists. Below are the list of every important theories regarding the subject.

  • Due to the phrasing of the messages detailing the level, many believe that the level. or at least the gate to it, is located in The Void, which has been indirectly confirmed by the Voidseeker cult, as they imply that the "Throne and the Crown" exist outside of every space in The Backrooms, but it's not in The Frontrooms or The Midrooms either.
  • Asking The Keymaster for a key to Level ALPHAOMEGA would result in either him refusing to answer, laughing at the requester, even denying the existence of the key. Depending on the person and how they asked, The Keymaster would instead ask why they seek the key, then advising them to not seek the key anymore. Considering this, then it's implied that the Key of Salvation is an extremely dangerous object.
  • The Voidseeker cult collects the hearts of many creatures in an attempt to find the Crimson Heart. There's apparently an attempt at genocide caused by the quest, which sparked internal disagreement due to the idea. Apparently, they stopped in fear of the Crimson Wanderer or the M.E.G hunting them back. There's apparently few smaller cults that attempted to do so, and they're eventually wiped by various factions. This does not stop the other cults from seeking the Crimson Heart, but prevent any more unnecessary bloodshed.
  • A controversial theory said that the Tome of Knowledge is "not any kind of magical book that everyone searched for" but an ordinary diary, located somewhere, in a certain home of someone who had documented the entirety of the Backrooms in the past. It is not recommended to mention this theory around the Voidseeker cult, as they strongly opposed the notion, as they consider it sacrilegious to their beliefs.
  • As the rumors regarding Level ALPHAOMEGA grow, many took advantage of the infamous legends and caused quite a bit of trouble. Hoaxes and scams involving the Five Treasures of the Void are often spread in certain communities. Strangely enough, the habit was apparently first committed by the Partygoers or those in Level Fun, which sparked several theories; some simply took it as them trolling, but some thought that they might be spreading the misinformation to prevent anyone from discovering the truth. The theory further said that the Partygoers do this because they "don't want the party to end" which would validate the theory that Level ALPHAOMEGA is capable of erasing or resetting The Backrooms, thus, ending all suffering in the Backrooms.

More theories should be added here after further research.

Author's Note

The level is originally created in 2021 as part of my meme video, and I'm currently working on making it canon to the Backrooms! Any support would be welcomed, and for whoever need to check the original lore, you can check the video here!

Anyone can contribute to the page, suggesting ideas, linking it to other pages or editing the grammar, but please do not vandalize or change the original concepts here without permission! Please discuss with me first if you want to do a rewrite!

Changelog:

  • Adding The Keymaster as the central figure regarding the Key of Salvation.
  • Removing the Crimson Wanderer from the trivia and adding him to the main section as a possible candidate of the Crimson Heart.
  • Adding The Storyteller as a theorized master of the Tome of Knowledge.
  • The page is now included in the official page of the Crimsonverse!
