Remnants of the Original: Level Pain
Summary and Assessment of Level Pain's Previous Description
Level Pain was described as a 'dangerous' and 'harmful' space consisting of an anomalous island surrounded by Liquid Pain. This space consisted of a cave, beach, and mountain. There was a colony here consisting of 2 beings called 'Nightmare solvers'. There are rumors insisting that at least one of these individuals was immortal. Immortality is not what it seems and it comes at price. It is not known what became of the other Nightmare solver. There were 'non-hostile' entities such as facelings, 'composers' and 'glacier worms' that inhabitant this space. There is reason to believe that Facelings never dwelled here. The composers and glacier worms went extinct. The only source of 'Pain' here was the rising sea of Liquid Pain. When there was no threat of rising waters, you could play volleyball on the beach. This level was given the survival classification of a 'Deadzone'.
'Deadzone' by definition is a place in which no life can exist. There is also a definition suggesting oxygen depletion in a body of water but besides the point... this does raise the following question...
Can you document a Deadzone?
Maybe...
You might be able to document the area becoming a Deadzone and then leave before you are claimed by the area. If you find a Deadzone, you might be able to document it but you must escape the area before whatever killed everything else kills you.
I am just theorized as the Deadzone survival classification has been a source of contention. I believe Level Pain was one of many sources of contention as it was given this survival classification but after careful analysis this place was at best a class 3. Nevertheless, 'file 2' is my attempt to salvage and recreate Level Pain in such a way that the Content Gods might not be driven to purge this level from existence again.
Oui.. this level was deleted and reverted who knows how many times. This level endured more pain and suffering than it is own original description box insisted that it offered.
Salvage Remnants: Level Pain
Level Pain is one of many anomalous levels you might traverse on your journey through The Backrooms.
This image was taken by one of the 'Nightmare solvers'. Their colony lies in ruin and their whereabouts unknown.
Level Pain's Updated Description
Level Pain is a spatial anomaly consisting of an island surrounded by a sea of the following liquids at any give time:
- Boiling Water
- Boiling Rose Water (is very potent and deadly if you inhale the vapors.)
- Cashew Water (can be absorbed into the skin causing insanity.)
- Mercury
- Hydrofluoric acid
- Liquid Nitrogen
- Liquid Iron
- Liquid pain
- The Liquified Screams (of the mod who had the misfortunate of deleting this page countless times).
Level Pain's island is the size of Greenland, which is 836,330 sq miles (~2,166,086 sq km), and consist of a few lakes, creeks, and brooks of botulinum toxin or blood, an 'infinite' cave system, a beach, a jungle, and a mountain range.
Level Pain Locations
Cave of Static
This image taken by wanderer S.B. reveals this cave's walls and ceiling covered in Crystalized Pain. It is worth mentioning here that this substances glows in the dark.
The 'Cave of Static' consists of a dimensional anomaly that makes the inside of the cave larger than what it appears on the outside. With that in mind, the cave system is potentially infinite. The temperature inside the cave can be between 55°F - 3000°F (12.8°C - 1648.9°C). This space is moist and stinks of rotting eggs and burnt flesh. It is worth noting that this cave system's excessive heat is the byproduct of this space emitting sporadic pulses of electricity. There is a 60% chance you could die of electrocution while traversing this cave. There also lurks an aggressive species of flesh eating spiders that will gladly pick at you flesh if you stand in one place too long.
The only reason why anyone would attempt to search this cave is to find the hidden ores of Crystalize Pain. The Crysalized Pain here gives off an intense aura which kills 75% of the explorers who enters this cave. Crystalize Pain is a valuable substance, so it is up to the explorer whether dying to get this substance is worth the risk.
Scorched Earth Beach
This images was acquired by anomalous means.
'Scorched Earth Beach' is a perception anomaly resulting in this beach appearing as the following two options:
This image was acquired by anomalous means.
- Option 1: A beach under clear blue skies consisting of lush palm trees, black sands, and playful waves. The temperature here 50°F - 75°F (10°C - 23.9°C). Embrace the gentle breeze on your cheeks.
- Option 2: A beach under hell's atmosphere containing charred bodies, black ash, and molten lava. The temperature here 100°F - 832.3°F (37.8°C - 444.6°C). Scream in agony and choke on ambers.
One of these options is what this beach truly looks like. Those in denial about where they are will die either way, but they will die clinging to a more wholesome image of this beach.
Your perception of this place will not save you.
Deep in the Jungle
This image of 'Deep in the Jungle' was taken by an unconfirmed explorer. This picture was found outside of this jungle amongst abandoned supplies. Was the explorer taken or did they go in willingly?
Somewhere 'Deep in the Jungle' lurks an entity of unspeakable, eldritch horror, or so the disembodied screams, wails, and cries for help would suggest. There is not a lot known about this area. The inside of this jungle appears to be perpetually shrouded in darkness. Standing outside this region's borders results in the following behaviors experienced by a percentage of explorers:
- 45% of all explorers will have this insatiable urge to go into the jungle. (They do not return.)
- 10% of all explorers will faint at the sight of this jungle.
- 20% of all explorers will experience an intense freeze response to this jungle.
- 25% of all explorers will see this jungle and run in the other direction.
Some explorers have reported silhouettes of hands reaching at them with the intent to grab them and drag them into the jungle. While this cannot be confirmed, explorers have disappeared outside the border of 'Deep in the Jungle'.
Echo's Peak
There are rumors and whispers that if you reach the highest peak of these mountains you will either become immortal or exit into The Frontrooms.
There is reason to believe that these rumors might be a ploy to lure explorers to these mountains. Some explorers have warned that if you reach the highest peak of these mountains, you will become immortal but not indestructible. You also will be cursed to wander these mountain passes forever. You will deteriorate, decay, and disintegrate until there is nothing left but your disembodied consciousness. Nothing but an echo of who you once were.

M.E.G. investigators cannot confirm what happened to Junior Researcher, Kyle █. ██████. Another operative found a decomposing, dethawing severed limb that matched Junior Researcher, Kyle █. ██████'s DNA by 100% in Level 11.
Colonies and Outposts
The previous colony disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Colonies and outposts are discouraged.

Exits
- If you can change the water to blue, you will teleport to Level 161.
- Reach the top of the mountain. Doing so will transport you back to The Frontrooms. There is no concrete proof that this method of exit works.
