A picture of the landscape

Level Primal, sometimes dubbed as The Lost World, is a still quite mysterious level of the backrooms. The level remains largely unexplored and is quite dangerous, with various entities and elemental hazards present.

Description

This level appears to be contained inside a ring of 100-foot-tall interconnected concrete wall structures referred to as The Gates. These gates are impossible to climb over due to the hostile entities of Level Primal. Anyone who arrives at this level will emerge from a door located on one of these structures, though not all entrances are at ground level. Because of this, distracted wanderers have been known to plummet to their deaths upon exiting the doorways into this level.

Contained within these concrete walls is what appears to be a vast, circular area estimated to be around 30,000 sq miles in size. Volcanoes are also scattered randomly across the landscape, though they will remain mostly dormant until an Impact Event is imminent. Level Primal is divided into several sectors which resemble various biomes from prehistory.

Entities

Level Primal is most known for it's exotic entities and inhabitants which cannot be found almost anywhere else in the backrooms, except perhaps for the noclippable levels adjacent to Level Primal.

Dinosaurs

The most notable of these entities are dinosaurs, which seem to make up the majority of the levels inhabitants. Examples of Level Primal dinosaurs include:

Herbivores

Ankylo.webp
Ankylosaurus are plentiful here, and although herbivorous, slow moving, and peaceful when undisturbed, they are considered very dangerous due to their deadly clubbed tail. The tail club of an adult Ankylosaurus could potentially generate impact forces up to 14,360 newtons, and is easily capable of shattering bones and killing you instantly if you do not keep your distance.

Stega.jpg
Stegosaurus roam across level primal largely undisturbed due to their massive size and spiked tails known as thagomizers which are capable of bringing down fully grown Trex. They have mesmerizing plates on their backs that vary in color depending on each individual herd of Stegosaurus.

Loto.jpg
Lotosaurus are among the smaller entities found here, though they are though they are rather rotund in comparison to others dinosaurs. Lotosaurus' have humplike sails on their back. They are herbivorous but behave something like a cross between a pig and snapping turtle, as they have ravenous vegetarian appetite but also possess a sharp beak which they use to defend themselves from predators.

Bronto.webp
Apatosaurus, more commonly known as Brontosaurus, is an immensely large and and imposing Sauropod easily identified by its long neck and it's bulky, elephant-like body. When fully grown, these massive creatures have no natural predators, and predatory dinosaurs will steer clear from them making being close to them a form of protection from hostile entities.

Brachiosaurus by willdinomaster55 .jpg
Formerly considered the same as Brachiosaurus, Giraffatitan is likely what you actually think of when you hear Brachiosaurus. These tall sauropods have long necks which enable them to access more leaves without having to move their bodies around as much.

Iguanadon.jpg
Among the most numerous entities found here, Iguanodon largely dominate the plains regions of Level Primal, moving in large herds in search for food. Despite being herbivorous, these dinosaurs possess a deadly thumb spike which they can use to defend themselves by striking out at their enemies. It is best to stay a good distance away from Iguanodon herds, as they are capable of charging up to `15 mph in order to chase away stalking predators.

Parasaurolophus in the woods by deskridge .jpg
Parasaurolophus are easily recognized by the beautiful and eerie sounds they make using their backwards facing tube-like head crest. These dinosaurs are able to communicate across long distances, allowing them to work in groups to fend off predators and stick together. Parasaurolophus are also able to alternate between bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion, and will stand on their hind legs and emit a loud honk to intimidate and scare away predators.

Prehistoric reserve pachycephalosaurus by joshd1000.jpg
Pachycephalosaurus, also refered to as Head Bumpers or just Bumpers within the backrooms, are bipedal herbivores known for their aggressive behavior during mating season. During mating season, male bumpers will use their helmet like heads to bash into each other in a display for dominance. Bumpers have also been known to attack smaller dinosaurs and wanderers, and are considered very deadly.

Carnivores

Trex.jpg
Trex are considered the apex natural predators of Level Primal. They are large and bipedal, and although not much faster than a human, they are able to chase down prey for long distances and wear them down. Trex are able to do this due to their excellent vision, which is estimated to be even greater than that of an eagle. They will watch prey from a distance and track them down before hiding within the foliage and choosing the perfect moment to strike. Trex can also emit a terrifying, trumpet-like roar to scare away scavengers which are trying to steal their kill.

Pterosaurs

Modern Animals

Aberrations

(an early ancestor of the modern faceling)

Mammoth turtle (a large omnivorous turtle with horns and armor)

Murder Rex (an extremely-bloodthirsty theropod, 10 meters in length (not actually a T. rex). Uses it's long claws to shred it's prey into pieces)

Entrance

Drown in a pool of Almond Water in Level 5678

Sometimes in Level 50 or above there'll be a time machine embedded in the wall, you only have a few minutes or it will dissappear.

You can also go to Level 11’s Backrooms Museum. The room which will soon have the new Murder Rex specimen dubbed "Rex" has a time machine too, that won’t disappear.

Level 173

Exit

The few ways to exit are to wait for the asteroid to hit the Yucatan Peninsula or just die.

also Level 173

You can also drown in the lake where the unknown Water Monster lives in to be transported to Level 5678.

Colonies and Outposts

The only ones you can find around Level Primal are caveling tribes, but they are mostly territorial to intruders.
