Jars of Moth Jelly
Description
Moth Jelly is a nutritional, jelly-like abdominal secretion secreted by female Death Moths to feed their young and maintain their Hives. Moth Jelly typically takes a violet coloration and has a similar consistency to honey but slightly thinner. Moth Jelly is observed to be laced with strong pheromones that attracts male Deathmoths and causes them to enter an entranced state, making them completely subservient to a particular hive's Queen as well as become addicted to it and willing to do whatever the Queen wishes in exchange for more.
Moth Jelly is described as being exceptionally sweet and tasting like blueberries with an aftertaste of lavender and rose.
The main source of Moth Jelly is of course, female Deathmoths and the highly aggressive nature of female Death Moths makes trying to obtain Moth Jelly from the source a dangerous and life-threatening endeavor but the nutritious properties of the jelly makes it a reward that outweighs the risk.
Moth Jelly can be found in any level with a high population of Deathmoths. Although rare, Moth Jelly in bottles and jars appear all throughout the Backrooms even where Deathmoths cannot be found. Often labeled with a sticker reading "Property of Royal Jelly Farms™" accompanied by a logo of a purple crown.
Properties
Moth Jelly is highly nutritious as it's high in protein, nutrients and natural sugars and it keeps those who consume it fuller longer as well gives them a considerable boost in strength, energy and stamina.
It also has an interesting side effect in that it causes male Deathmoths to be attracted and steadfastly protective of the user and causes females to ignore them entirely until after about five minutes after consumption where the effects will were off.
Inspite of all of the positive qualities and exceptionally nutrientional value of Moth Jelly, it is incredibly addictive and exceeding the recommended daily dosage will cause the user to become hopelessly hooked and desperate for more, even willing to go directly to the source and risk their lives. Side effects of overconsumption also include blurred vision, a sense of euphoria and uncontrollable giggling. There have even been cases concerning mutations, those who consume extreme amounts are liable to transform into feral human/Deathmoth hybrids commonly known as "Weremoths".
Usage
The great nutritional value and flavorful taste of Moth Jelly makes it a very valuable resource in the Backrooms. One cup of Moth Jelly having enough nutrients to nourish a Wanderer for the entire day and it's considered to be a trump card in any barter as it can be used to trade for almost anything.
Moth Jelly can even be used offensively via the construction of "Jelly Bombs" by combining one jar of Moth Jelly with a pipe bomb. Upon detonation, a Jelly Bomb will cover those in it's blast radius with jelly, slowing them down as well as attracting all Deathmoths on the proximity to devour them alive.
