M.E.G. Warning
We hereby issue a warning to all wanderers. It is to be noted that Cashew Water is a liquid substance that poses significant harm to the human body. Under no circumstances should any wanderer consume this liquid by drinking it or have direct physical contact with it. This is of utmost importance for the well-being and safety of all wanderers. Failure to abide by this directive may result in adverse consequences to one's health. We earnestly request all wanderers to take it upon themselves to inform those who are not yet aware of this matter.
Object 44
Cashew Water
Object 44, commonly known as Cashew Water, is an object that can be encountered in the Backrooms. Cashew Water exhibits a yellowish hue and, upon initial observation, may not possess any readily apparent and distinguishable differences from Almond Water. It is habitually carried in various containers, among which glass bottles are more frequent. The M.E.G. solemnly requests that any wanderer who discovers a container holding Cashew Water should immediately affix a label to it. This action is taken to prevent potential perils and safeguard the well-being of all individuals within the Backrooms. When essential for the sake of safety, Cashew Water can be destroyed.
Cashew Water is believed to be relatively more common in unstable levels. However, it can also be found in regular levels. According to M.E.G. levelogists[1], this is thought to be attributed to the possibility that Cashew Water may be generated by so-called unstable matter. Unstable levels are predominantly composed of unstable matter. As a result, Cashew Water is more prevalent in these areas and is subsequently spread throughout various levels. It should be noted that this is merely one of many conjectures. Further research and exploration are required to confirm or refute this hypothesis and to gain a deeper understanding of the nature and origin of Cashew Water within the Backrooms.
Presently, in light of the currently available knowledge regarding Cashew Water, it is widely and thoroughly considered to be in direct opposition to Almond Water. When we delve into its influence on mental stability, the effect is strikingly and completely contrary. Cashew Water is capable of inducing intense sensations of fear and anxiety within an individual, leading to a significant deterioration of sanity. Eventually, those who consume Cashew Water – if they are fortunate enough to avoid a painful death – may transform into a Wretch.
Furthermore, upon conducting more in-depth examination and comprehensive analysis, it has been uncovered that some specific varieties of Cashew Water contain minuscule yet detectable amounts of liquid pain. In addition, various acids are present in Cashew Water posing a substantial and formidable threat to the human body. These acids can potentially cause detrimental effects on certain physiological systems and overall well-being, disrupting normal bodily functions and compromising one's health.
Cashew Water tends to attract a variety of entities. If you inadvertently spill Cashew Water on a certain level, it may attract large numbers of hostile entities. This property can sometimes be strategically exploited (more on this will be discussed later) and is exclusively useful in limited circumstances. Splashing Cashew Water on an entity can have a significant impact. It will increase the entity's intelligence, physical strength, and potentially other attributes. However, there is an important exception to this rule. If the entity been transformed by a human[2], then Cashew Water will have the same effect on such an entity as it would on a human being.
Cashew Water also has an expiration date, as do its effects. However, this does not in any way mean that they are safe to drink. Even when the negative effects are somewhat reduced, there are still significant risks associated with consuming Cashew Water, and it should be avoided at all costs.
Sometimes, Cashew Water is cunningly disguised as other liquids, making it extremely difficult to determine its true nature. So, is the bottle of liquid you are currently holding in your hand Cashew Water? Certainly, you must never attempt to tell if they are Cashew Water by drinking them. Not only is this extremely dangerous, but it is also unethical to give potentially harmful substances to anyone else. You'll most likely need the following methods to tell the difference:
Cashew Water has a unique property of attracting entities. If you've perused the documentation on Facelings, you'll probably be familiar with Officer Atticus N. Wolfe. In case you carry a bottle of Cashew Water, the good-natured Faceling may be drawn over due to the allure of the Cashew Water. This friendly entity might then tell you that the liquid is not drinkable. Thus, you can try to find a friendly, willing, and communicative entity and ask if the liquid in your hand is Cashew Water. However, this approach is not always guaranteed to work as not all entities may be aware of or willing to help identify Cashew Water.
Almond water holds the remarkable ability to counteract all the effects of Cashew Water. If you have a sufficient amount of almond water in your possession, it may seem feasible to drink a little of the liquid in your hand to determine if it's Cashew Water. If you find yourself in a trance and your sanity is reduced, drinking almond water immediately can potentially reverse the effects. At this point, if your condition improves, you can conclude that it was a bottle of Cashew Water. However, this method is incredibly risky. If you don't drink almond water in time, you are highly likely to die a painful and agonizing death. The stakes are extremely high, and one must think carefully before attempting such a dangerous approach.
Another way to identify Cashew Water is by smelling the smell. If you can detect a distinct aroma of cashew nuts, it could be a bottle of Cashew Water. However, it is important to note that not all Cashew Water has a cashew nut flavor. Some varieties may have a more subtle or even no discernible scent related to cashew nuts. This makes relying solely on smell a less reliable method, but it can still be a useful clue in combination with other techniques.
Cashew Water is indeed not overly useful as an object that strengthens entities while simultaneously weakening humans. It presents a rather precarious balance that must be carefully considered. If you find yourself with the intention of hunting entities, which are often rare and elusive, whether it's for the purpose of making a meal or utilizing the ingredients on them, Cashew Water can be employed as a means to attract these entities. However, this is an extremely dangerous endeavor. The slightest miscalculation or misstep can result in attracting far too many entities that surround you, leaving you in a perilous situation from which escape may seem nearly impossible. You risk being torn apart by these entities, with little chance of survival.
In addition, when Cashew Water is mixed with liquid pain, an even more dangerous concoction is created. This combination can be fashioned into a time bomb of sorts. The timing of its explosion is entirely random, adding an element of unpredictability and risk. On one hand, this can be a double-edged sword. While it poses a significant threat to those who are unaware or unprepared, it can also be utilized for exploring levels.
Once a fearless wanderer named Phoebe was engaged in an exploration of Level 1. During her journey, she came across several bottles that appeared to her as if they were bottles of almond water. Unaware of the true nature of the liquid, she consumed one of the bottles. Little did she know that it was actually a large bottle of Cashew Water. Soon after drinking it, she began to experience a sense of unease and discomfort. Struggling with great effort, she made her way towards M.E.G. Base First Light. The doctors stationed at the base promptly initiated a diagnosis. Regrettably, at that time, no one within the vicinity was familiar with the existence of Cashew Water. As a result, Phoebe found herself in an extremely painful state, and became a wretch. In the end, the M.E.G. agents had no choice but to carry out an execution.
