Description

Entity 93 otherwise known as Omens are a gas-like substance that can take control of lone wanderers’ bodies. When they do this, the wanderer will show little to know difference to their usual behavior, but will seek out other wanderers and try to convince them to wander with them. After 50-65 hours from the initial takeover of the body, the Omen will leave the body, causing the body to rapidly decay, losing almost all resemblance to a human in under a minute. As this happens, the Omen will turn back into a black gas and disappear. It is unknown what they do next, as no one has been able to keep up with their speed. Anyone who witnesses this is killed within an hour.

Behavior

Omens in gas form never approach parties of more than one wanderer, and will avoid them at all costs, however they seek out wanderers that are alone, especially ones that have been separated from a party. Once one sees a lone wanderer, they will move toward them at high speeds, and will not stop chasing until they catch their prey, or if their victim finds another sentient entity, even a hostile one. They are rarely known to follow victims between levels. An Omen in control of a body will behave very similarly to how the wanderer did, although sometimes small differences can be noticed. Omens without a party will be very eager to join one. Omens possessing a body can move between levels like a wanderer, but will not be attacked by entities who target exclusively wanderers. The only way to survive an Omen controlling your body is to push it out with your mind, however this is very difficult and has only happened 11 times. It is thought that by succeeding at this, the wanderer kills the Omen. If an Omen manages to escape the body without being killed after 50-65 hours, it is thought that the wanderer themselves will become an Omen, spawning in level 0, although nobody has ever recorded encountering one there. When an Omen leaves a body, it is seen speeding off, as well as making a screeching noise.

Biology

Very little is known about the biology of Omens. However when not possessing wanderers they take the shape of a black cloud of gas, no bigger than 2 cubic feet in size. They can move very fast, and are capable of making a high pitched screeching sound. The few wanderers who have killed them by removing them from their minds say that it controlled their body by whispering commands to the wanderer that they had to obey. It is unknown what language these whispers are in, the wanderers saying that they did not recognize any words, and could not replicate them. However they simply knew their meaning. There is another theoretical way to defeat an Omen, although this has never been achieved, if someone exposes the body of the wanderer to something that can cause a wanderer to lose all sanity. This will kill the Omen, and the wanderer will be fine, keeping their sanity intact.

Discovery

Omens were discovered on January 16th, 2022 in level 166. As of March 2nd, 2022, there have been 11 instances of people defeating them, and 49 documented cases of them killing someone. This number is likely to grow exponentially, as when Omens kill people, their victims become Omens.
