““Nevi Aurielleno Onem Quiusen”
Description[]
![]() |
Aurielle, officially the Republic of Aurielle, is a group found in a variety of levels within the Backrooms. It proclaims itself as an independent nation, which names its settlements towns or cities. Its population stands between 65,000 and 67,934, making it among the largest groups. A sizeable portion of its population lives in Volucris, the group's capital and largest city, followed by Valais, Prospero, and Seileta. Aurielle's official and most spoken language is Aurielleno, but English and other languages are commonplace.
Modern Auriellen lands were settled various decades ago, but the first recorded organized state and basis of contemporary Aurielle was established on October 19, 1921, being the Principality of Persa Uisa; it was formed after a conglomerate of small factions unified under one banner, and it was the site of the formation of the modern-day cultures of Aurielle—militarism and unity. Under Ander Sunil, Aurielle reached its territorial peak; he also addressed the LOTG incident and led Persa to victory through the three Ciran Wars. Persa was ultimately disbanded due to Silas Ander's resignation and subsequent schism to take the throne. A period of nomadic endeavors followed the collapse of Persa, characterized by internal strife to reunify Persa, the most successful of which, the Commune of Independent Persan States, was repressed by the Raiders as an enactment of revenge from the Ciran Wars. In 1961, Leo Minori was formed, entering into a unique era of technology, trade, and scientific greatness, which led to the group growing to become a semi-influential body within the political landscape of the Backrooms. The period ended following the Saggitani Uprising that led to its dissolution. The former Leo Minori areas were then contested and divided by numerous emerging organizations until the Istauran Federation embarked on a period of expansionism and unification efforts. Istaura fell after a disastrous counteroffensive that led to its surrender against a coalition formed to oppose Istaura's expansionism; remnants of the Istauran government relocated and became part of the Backroom Colonists, where they established a colony in Level 479 for a brief period of time before an abrupt failure cutting communication stations with central command left them to leave the colony. The former Istauran leaders stumbled upon Arisa in Level 339 and eventually won the elections, which would launch the Vistokan Wars.
The Republic of Aurielle was officially formed in 1975 with the Common Unity Act. The early Auriellen state aligned itself with scientific ideals, mainly due to wishes to distance itself from the Vistokan Wars, working with ideas of revolutionizing and fastening technological development within the Backrooms as an attempt to thrive within it in the future. In 1984, the country experienced the Antlian Revolution, which set forth a period of increased militarism under Sebastian Solsti. The Netter Linsho War, which led to the annexation of Antlian lands, gave way to the Kinoi Plan, which preceded events such as the AAC Incident. The Lustruger Crescen War, caused after the AAC Incident, led to a nine-year-long occupation by MEG, Antlia, and the Confederation of Level 154 and subsequent violence against the occupant powers. A 19-year conflict for the liberation of Aurielle was launched and reinstated the Republic with additional territorial gains, after which several cultural changes solidifying Auriellen militarism were integrated. It became a founding member of the Volucris Strategic Economic and Security Accord. Arenet Matlon's election as president began a shift in foreign policy that saw Aurielle actively involved in foreign conflicts, expanding Aurielle's sphere of influence.
A developed country with an advanced economy, Aurielle is a federal state with some of the largest amount of GDP, the largest defense spending, and one of the largest manufacturing industries in the Backrooms, and it plays a significant role in international affairs due to its position as a superpower. Aurielle is a founding member and de facto leader of the VSESA, alongside numerous other international organizations and forums. They have a considerable agricultural and technological sector, especially in military systems.
Etymology[]
The name of Aurielle is frequently interpreted as being a combination of the Aurielleno words 'gold' and 'land' (aurum and limin, respectively) with some adjustments. This is thought to be inherited from the golden lands of Level 339, where Volucris resides. Another interpretation is that the name Aurielle means "country" or "unity" in Creole Aurielleno (cauvellem).
History[]
Early History[]
The earliest predecessor of Aurielle is the Principality of Persa Uisa, which was established on October 19, 1921, in Level 40, according to the located Declayansiya de Furmazireba (Declaration of Formation, Creole Aurielleno), though previous states prior to Persa Uisa most likely existed due to the linguistics of Aurielleno, with the foremost motive of exploring and understanding the Backrooms. It is the inception of some modern-day cultural practices present within Aurielle, mainly with its warrior and expansionist culture.
Persa Uisa slowly expanded through the Backrooms, though logistics led to major complications when establishing new bases. In 1922, the prince of Persa Uisa, Sepp Sunil, ordered the controversial cessation of further exploration attempts to focus on improving and bettering living conditions in established bases. Heightened public enthusiasm for exploration led to riots and mass rallies in opposition to the change. As public pressure, advisorial guidance, and increased threat of assassination mounted, the prince was forced to revert the changes and ordered for the colonization and exploration of the Backrooms to resume.
Following Sepp's death, Ander Sunil was sworn in as the new prince. Considered the "Sauvor di Aurielle" by Auriellen historians, he allowed for Persa to reach its territorial and influential peak. From 1924 to the 1930s, Ander introduced an extensive, aggressive, and expansionist policy and military campaign that led to the rapid and exponential growth of Persa; during this period, Level 107 and its inhabitants were discovered by Persan expeditionary teams. They would be spared from colonial rule due to fears of sanctions, beginning the long and close Auriellen-Cascadan allyship. Expansionism continued up until the mid-to-late 1930s after the LOTG Incident, where several domestically produced LOTG MA2 Communication Devices in established bases spontaneously combusted; the incident led to public attitude towards exploration souring. Simultaneously, the Raiders, a now-defunct group based in Level 1, attacked a Persa Uisan colony in the level, initiating the Ciran Wars.
The Ciran Wars were comparably diminute to future conflicts Aurielle would participate in, however, it was a major kickstarter for contemporary Auriellen militarism. Additionally, they determined the existance of Aurielle. The Ciran Wars incorporated three separate wars, with the 2nd Ciran War being the most brutal. The push towards Persa's capital, Eáusig, in Level 213 by the Raiders led to the legendary Nomino Dae story, whereby, alledgedly, Ander Sunil managed to mitacously survive 21 straight minutes of constant attacks by the Raiders before leading a counterattack. While the story has been often considered innacurate and exaggerated, the tale has remained popular in Aurielle due to its wide usage as a popular slogan and propaganda poster in the Korthie Casiagen War.
““If one man drove a superior fighting force back, then we can do it!”
— Translated version of the slogan.
The Ciran Wars officially ended in 1940 with a Persan victory; the specific accord that was signed to end the war was the Treaty of Menastor. Ander Sunil later died a national hero from the Hydrolitis Plague two years later, which he had caught in an expedition to Level 37.
Silas Ander became the new prince after Sunil's death. Silas was inexperienced and unapt for the position, as he lacked knowledge in foreign, internal, economic, and leadership skills. In June 1942, the first Persan colony fell as a result of poor logistical handling, which marked the decline of Persa Uisa. Popular opinion remained indecisive on the new leader as the nation was still recovering from the LOTG incident, and communication was gradually being reopened. Throughout the following weeks, major colonies would be affected by the poor logistics, causing widespread unrest and protests demanding government action. Public pressure eventually led to Silas announcing his resignation.
The political system of Persa Uisa did not account for the resignation of a prince, meaning there was no substitute or vice-prince to replace his position. Persa Uisa remained without leadership until its eventual collapse after a schism to seize power caused a diaspora out of the capital.
Nomadic Period[]
After the incident and subsequent collapse of Persa, remnants of the government reunified remaining territories of old Persa with varying degrees of success. Though a majority of members effectively became refugees or proclaimed their own sovereign group, but a majority of Persans became nomads wandering from location to location. During this period many attempts to reunify Persa were perpetrated, most notably of which was the Commune of Independent Persan States (CIPS), established by the Persan National Security Assembly in the Persan Nofgun Area.
The unitary commune consolidated vast amounts of previously Persan territories, though in the wake of their expansion, the Raiders would plunge them into a continuation of the Ciran Wars. CIPS' considerably weaker military led to its capitulation in 1949. Most civilians fled, while others remained to engage in prolonged asymmetrical warfare.
Leo Minori[]
After the annexation of CIPS, Persan reunification attempts ceased for a period of time. In 1961, Leo Minori was formed; a federative state valued to be a major foundation of contemporary Auriellen hegemony and cultural practices, the nation witnessed Aurielleno Creole transform into Aurielleno, and cemented the implementation of cultural symbols and tenets, such as the usage of Hound skulls or "skulldog masks" as adornments.
Leo Minori is considered to be the Aurielle Golden Age, spanning from the inception of the group to the Saggitani Uprising and having significant influence outside of Leo Minori. Leo Minori technology, trade, and scientific innovation became prominent within the Backrooms, gaining prestige and become an influential body within the levels they settled. Though the period was also characterized by Leo Minori de-faux isolationism, as they participated in very few collaboratory missions.
The 1962 Cultural Revolution gave rise to a stylized art known as Struvenism. In place of the general dark composition of paintings that dominated most of the years, Struvenism sought to represent peace, beauty, and randomness; paintings in the Struvenist style sought to show the beauty within randomness often experienced in the Backrooms. The efforts of Lorene Palem led to the popularization of the movement, which later developed into styles such as Arvusnoism, Culconism, and Paleno.
The Auriellen Golden Age would end in late 1966 with the small province in Level 427, known as Saggitan, seeking and declaring independence. Experiencing an exponential rise in hypernationalism[1] in prior years, the governor of the province held an illegal referendum, which laid the groundwork for their rebellion.
Leo Minori retained a defense and guard force, although it was largely unfit for conflicts due to ideological focus and research orientation. Loyalists to Leo Minori within Saggitan were the first to respond to the province's separation, responding with a cordon around the exits of Level 427 while the government mobilized the Defense Force. During the Saggitani Uprising, the Leo Minori Self-Defense Force (LMSDF) employed human wave tactics and skirmishing to exhaust the enemy. As fighting stalled to a deadlock, the tactic was largely useless but was still being employed. Increased allocation of guardsmen to fight in the Saggitani Uprising left many colonies undefended and thus subject to both human and entity attacks, resulting in the collapse of the group.
A day before the collapse of the capital, deployed forces were ordered to retreat, though checkpoints were established at the exits. Saggitan subsequently declared victory, and the Saggitani State was formed, which would later be renamed Antlia.
Istauran Federation[]
![]() |
The Minister of Military Affairs formed a rump state within the remaining colonies of Leo Minori named the Istauran Federation after Leo Minori's collapse. Under the leadership of the Istauran Federal State Council, the state military junta, Istaura would manifest their destiny through a set of military campaigns against competing states that emerged from Leo Minori's collapse. Mandatory military service was established under directive of the IFSC.
The Federation's expansionism brought heightened tensions. During the Muran Conflict, the federation decided to participate to increase its territory and resources, during which a coalition was formed and led by various groups that opposed Istaura's expansionism. Coalition forces would engage in ferocious battles against the Istauran Federal Army, managing to push it back and annex major cities. Istaura remained on the defensive up until a botched counteroffensive, called the Grand Istauran Blunder, caused a collapse of the frontlines and subsequent surrender; other issues such as instability and morale were attributed to Istaura's defeat.
Istauran leadership managed to avoid capture and the Murun Trials. They relocated to the Backroom Colonists under new aliases and became part of an expeditionary team that would later set up a base in Level 479. Abrupt communication failure between the base and central command, among other factors, led to the base's abandonment.
Arisa and Vistokan Wars[]
Arisa was established in Level 339 on the modern-day lands of Volucris; they trace back to the collapse of Leo Minori, originally having different goals, though after Istauran leadership arrived there and won the elections, they set out to reunite the remaining descendant colonies of Leo Minori, thus perpetrating the Vistokan Wars. In 1969, Arisa declared war on Spica and Recula, subsequently executing a lightning invasion of the two, annexing both of them before any military intervention occured. After the fall of Spica and Recula, various other descendants of Leo Minori began remilitarizing and some declared war on eachother to grow their influence to deter an Arisan invasion. After war with Spica and Recula ended, Arisa declared war on Piscot.
The Piscotan Campaign lasted around four months. Initial resistance from the Piscotan Army was heavy but was quickly worn down by Arisan blitzkrieg tactics as they tried to replicate the quick fighting seen on Spica and Recula. Scavanged cars with added armor from levels saw their first usage, though their logistical burden and fuel consumption meant limited usage. When Arisa attacked, they were confronted by the informally known Wall of Kaspetin, a set of heavily defended fortifications within Level 416 and Level 16—the levels where the group's two most important bases were located, created during Leo Minori times.
The defenses from the Wall of Kaspetin managed to hold off Arisan offensive attempts, though Arisa had settled on sieging those bases while reserve forces continued their advances elsewhere, entrenching them in hardline attritional warfare as defenders had to make due with the limited equipment. The campaign lasted longer than expected as the combat experienced was rather nomadic; most units spent most time searching and locating Piscotan bases rather than fighting. Nonetheless, after military advisors dictated that all bases of Piscot had been either conquered or abandoned, plans for a breach of the Kespetin Walls were made.
It was relatively easy to breach the fortifications in Level 16 due to the scarcity of naturally occurring resources, which resulted in starvation and low resistance of enemy forces. Though fighting in Level 416 was harder than anticipated, Arisan military advisors convinced head commanders to do an extreme, albeit considered necessary step for reunification, procedure, which was burning down the forests of Level 416. This event came to be known as the Apollo's Rain; the decision was reasoned as "destroying enemy morale." The plan worked, though not before burning large portions of controlled territory.
After the Piscotan campaign, Arisa began a general reconstruction of occupied territory to ensure no civilians would be incentivized to rebel against their occupiers; the local populace was given a steady supply of essential necessities while also being given "reconstruction bonds," especially in areas affected by Apollo's Rain. Arisa also called for the construction of better roads and settlements. Though this period of peace was shortlived as three groups, Altair, Naos, and Lusfeor would form an alliance and preemptively strike Arisa.
The initial strike was successful; however, it would quickly subdue to a bloody stalemate. Both sides deeply entrenched in their bases, and the would-be frontlines became silent except for the occasional firefight. This stalemate lasted for several months until 1970, when Alioth began a mobilization of troops and launched an invasion into Lusforite and Altairan bases. The majority of Lusforite, Altairan, and Naosian forces were preoccupied with defending bases closest to Arisa; thus, Alioth was able to conquer various bases without much resistance. As the Altairan main base, Algui, fell to the Alioth, remaining forces would split their troops.
Coinciding with this split, Arisa launched a complete offensive on fortified positions, aiming to meet up with Alioth for the possibility of a collaboration, which they successfully did so a few weeks later. Any remaining enemy forces were either met by a two-sided attack or were flanked and destroyed. After the campaign's conclusion, Arisa and Alioth decided to open formal diplomatic relations and military cooperation, creating the Sidus. A military alliance was established to make future conquests considerably easier.
Initial Sidus activities were primarily focused on the pacifications of newly occupied territory. Following which, Arisa and Alioth set their sights on Cercea, Scusva, and various other smaller groups.
These groups would be invaded and annexed easily by the Sidus; the only one spared from an invasion was the Crux Sotorna, which became an honorary member due to its importance as a religious hub for Christianity. Many of these territories would be reorganized as civilian or industrial grounds, although some became heavily militarized.
Shortly after these conquests, Sidusan forces shifted their focus toward bigger targets. Leaders of Arisa and Alioth elected Hadira and Antares as they had been engaging in a conflict for the past year, and after successfully conquering them, they would move towards other larger targets.
The first Sidusan invasion of the two groups began in 1971. The 1st, 3rd, and 17th Shock Company launched an attack on several Hadiran colonies located in Level 156, where they cut all communication with more important bases to stop a Hadiran response. Plans to attack Antarean bases were ordered; however, they were quickly halted as Antares contacted the groups to join Sidus. Despite some within Arisan High Command being adamant about the idea, unanimous agreement by Alioth, Crux Sotorna, and the remaining Arisan leaders led to Antares officially joining. Antares quickly relocated some troops to fight alongside other Sidusan forces, despite weakening their frontlines. With these additional troops Sidus wasted no time and launched a complete incursion into Hadira.
With Hadira now rerouting forces to stop Sidusan advances, a repetition of the Altairan Campaign occurred. Antares began an offensive throughout the less defended areas of Hadira, encircling important locations. Meanwhile, the full momentum of the Sidusan invasion continued as they made great advances, practically cutting through the heart of Hadira. By mid-1971, Hadira grew desperate. A large amount of Hadiran forces were thrown against Sidusan forces to cease their advances; although some were mildly successful, they were not enough to impede their capitulation on August 9, 1971.
As the Hadiran campaign ended, the apparent threat of Sidus caused the remaining groups to brief about the possibility of an alliance to counter them. Talks would continue; the alliance was planned to encompass all remaining groups, though these talks would be intercepted and only cause Sidus members to fuel their expansionist ambitions. As a direct response to them, Antares proposed the attack of Earra and Valnitak, the main two groups leading the efforts.
Though the plan was shelved as Arisa and other members opted for the reconstruction and pacification of occupied territory, the plan transformed into Operation Hocus Pocus.
Operation Hocus Pocus was enacted on and set out to cause popularity for the ruling party to drastically fall and unrest to increase and to then set up a pro-Sidus government in Valnitak. The Antareans, with support from other Sidus members, began a series of internal sabotages and political disruptions that would subsequently lead to a seven-day schism that ultimately ended in men in unmarked uniforms setting up a new government and appointing a new leader.
The newly appointed leadership remained largely unpopular in its inception, though that changed as Sidus secretly allocated various resources for them to use to weigh in public support. By late 1972, Valnitak held a referendum, which caused it to join Sedus.
With the securement of Valnitak, Sidus decided to do its final and most ambitious campaign to end the Vistokan Wars, a campaign against all remaining groups, which later would form the "Lepus Security Alliance" (LSA) as a response to the attacks. By January 26, 1973, all members of Sidus had organized their armies and were prepared for war. Beginning in February 12th, various companies and battalions began advancing towards Laniaken, Sophari, Mustacan, and Rodinan colonies that were located far from important bases, thus making control and requests for help significantly harder.
The units received an order to commence their incursion on February 14th, marking the beginning of the campaign. In the weeks following, Sidus made continuous attacks against the smaller, isolated colonies of the groups, transforming them into bases of operations for future attacks. With high command dictating that enough isolated settlements had been conquered, they began planning for a full-force attack on important bases on all the groups.
These plans were acted upon in May 11th when the Moetan Hadiran Brigade, 81st Light Infantry Company, and 2nd Battalion made a push for the Laniaken major colony of Normare, where they engaged in a period of lengthy and stagnant combat.
A surprise came when, as a response to the attacks of Normare, Laniake would spearhead the formation of the LSA between Sophar, Laniake, and Mustac, which were part of the initial attack, and alongside four others that weren't, though were willing to cooperate with them to repel a Sidusan invasion.
The formation of the LSA caused Sidus member leaders to officially declare a full-scale invasion; they ordered forces to seize as much territory and bases as possible before enemy combatants arrived or could form a proper defensive line. By July 2nd, Sidus had creeped dangerously close to various important bases in Sophar and Laniake, managing to successfully capture Normare.
Onward, the war grew to become a stagnant and bloody conflict of attritional warfare, with neither side making significant gains. By October 6th, seeing nearly no progress being made in the campaign as anticipated, Sidus members would decide to begin targeting LSA leadership and their internal stability. Operation Boomstick would initiate on October 1st in which various Antarean and Arisan spies would infiltrate the populace of the LSA, where they were instructed to perpetrate various political assassinations and fund uprisings of symphatizer and collaborator groups.
In spite of these efforts, the overwhelming LSA forces led to the reconquest of various bases, closing the gap dangerously within controlled territory and the bases of Arisa and Alioth; however, control over important territories such as Normare were held for the duration of the war.
The LSA finally launched a full counteroffensive, which was spearheaded by the 2nd Sophari Elite Republican Guard and backed up by many other battalions and brigades. With overwhelming numbers, the LSA made a landfall into Sidusan lands while also sieging various strongholds that had been set up in occupied lands.
Due to the landfall, Sidus member leaders relocated more funds into Operation Boomstick and also began the usage of carbombs and psychological warfare, with strategies revolving around deteriorating morale and war support by killing as many enemy forces as possible.
The counteroffensive quickly grew stale as LSA troops had to deal with ambushes and bloody confrontations. By January 21st, agents operating in Laniake successfully assassinated the Laniaken leader, leading to a Sidus-sponsored armed insurrection that attempted to seize leadership, which ended up escalating into a civil war.
Response of LSA was sluggish, though two LSA members did manage to send in reserves to assist loyalist forces, namely Antlia[2] and Icaz. Seeing the initiation of the civil war and an opportunity to open another front, Arisa, Alioth, and Antares rerouted four battalions to assist rebel forces.
These forces quickly moved through Laniaken lands, seizing governmental institutions and setting up a puppet government. Not wanting to replicate the mistake of prior groups, the LSA did not reroute forces to try and recapture Laniake but rather chose to fund organizations against the occupation to keep them preoccupied while they continued their offensive attempts. Arisan intelligence intercepted one of these transactions and established various mock organizations that would gain funding from the LSA, which would later redirect to Sidus or the puppet government.
Sidus would use the acquired funding and resources against the LSA. Due to their lack of military response, they began an incursion into LSA territory, invading Earra, Sophar, and Mustac. With a majority of LSA troops focused on their landfall onto Sidus. Sidusan forces met little resistance, and by May, they had successfully flanked and encircled a majority of LSA troops.
Encircled troops would attempt unruly breakthroughs to end said encirclement out of desperation but were widely unsuccessful. June brought about the end of any troops within the encirclement as the Sidus launched a complete offensive to eliminate them.
After the fall, Sidus launched an offensive to capture all of the LSA. Panic erupted among the populations of groups within the LSA as Arisan, Alioth, and Antarean forces quickly advanced through their territory. Forces that had been stuck deep into would finally see their siege lifted as the Mustacan front collapsed.
The collapse of the Mustacan front only foreshadowed the fall of other LSA member states. Sidus swiftly annexed Sophar and Earra. By August, a majority of LSA members either capitulated or were annexed, with Antlia and Libra remaining the only independent remnants. Sidus, specifically Arisa and Antares, emphasized battle doctrine on Antlia and Libra and placed great emphasis on an assured victory; thus, they commonly practiced indiscriminate artillery barrages.
Libra and Antlia experienced devastation throughout their colonies and bases; the devastation would be enough to lead to a Libran capitulation, leaving only Antlia. Sidus launched one final offensive that caused the annexation of Antlia, subsequently marking the complete end of the Vistokan Wars on November 12th.
Post-Vistokan Wars[]
The regions most affected by the Vistokan Wars were those controlled by LSA states. Immediately after the end of the war, Sidus reorganized annexed territories and began an extensive reconstruction effort alongside integration efforts. Simultaneously, Sidus put the Inisiartus Comuc Fiuderale (Common Federation Initiative), which set out to unify all its member states, into action with the Preparatory Agency for the Common Federation. To set forth the ambitions, numerous acts such as government and economic standardization, interchange programs, and more began.
On 27 January 1975, the governments passed the Common Unity Act, forming the Republic of Aurielle. It incorporated every Sidus member state and assured equal autonomy for all comprising states. A provisional government was put in place for state-building and democratic transition.
Republic of Aurielle[]
The young Aurielle had a rather turbulent inauguration. While many sectors in terms of political, governmental, and economic organization had peaceful transitions due to their inclusion in the Preparatory Agency for the Common Federation, residents of previous LSA states still held massive discontent and grievances due to the destruction caused by the Vistokan Wars. In response, the provisional government of the Republic demilitarized, retaining a small force of around 2,000 personnel, and redirected the funds to welfare programs and speeding up reconstruction efforts. The Auriellen Security Council was formed due to fears that demilitarization would lead to insurgencies spreading to regain independence.
Aurielle, similarly to its predecessors, began as a research-oriented organization due to the government attempting to disassociate itself from the Vistokan Wars. The Auriellens chose to isolate themselves from the rest of the political landscape, mainly focusing on improving their own technology and society. In 1980 the transitional government transformed into the modern Auriellen Federal Government.
By 1983, reconstruction throughout most LSA states had finalized, including Libra, in spite of the devastating indiscriminate bombing campaigns done through the latter part of the Vistokan Wars; however, Antlia was not included. The government advised any individual within Antlia to relocate to nearby locations up until the services could fully rebuild the rubble of Antlia. The decision didn't resonate with Antlian residents, and thus many protested and refused to allow Auriellen services to enter the area. Tensions between Antlians and Auriellens continued throughout the years until, in the beginning of 1984, an opportunistic and influential leader, Tarik Suhail, seized the opportunity to rally up the locals, urging ethnic Antlians to rise up and claim independence against their oppressors, leading to the Antlian Revolution.
The Auriellen Ground Forces was sent to regain control over Antlia but was defeated by Antlian partisans and irregulars. Fighting ceased on 16 November 1985 after the signing of the Járembare Agreement. Many citizens, especially through previous LSA states, expressed vocal support for Antlians, though said support trickled down following reports of terror tactics.
After the Antlian revolution, a surge of discontent for the sitting administration among the pro-Auriellen districts grew significantly, leading to the militaristic Sebastian Solsti winning. Under Sebastian's administration, the Auriellen Armed Forces experienced a period of acute modernization and incremental expansion. He also passed the controversial Ant Laws, which segregated Antlian individuals, causing increased widespread public hatred towards Antlians. Sebastian's presidency also led to the formation of the Auriellen Security Council Intelligence Center (ASCIC) and Auriellen Security Council Special Forces (ASCSF) per the Securitate Redcorsi Laupe Enacta.[3] Later on he authorized military presence in peripheral areas of Antlian settlements, leading to skirmishes that would later snowball into the Netter Linsho War.
Sebastian's modernization of the AAR proved desirable for the combat that ensued in the conflict. Military operations stopped on April 3rd as the Treaty of Manuo Bao was signed, forcing Antlia to cede the Hadhidjara Regions. After the Netter Linsho War, the government decided to split the increasingly militarizing Republic and the scientific side, thus forming Rama Saom. Sebastian then embarked on a 2-year campaign aimed at strengthening Aurielle's position in the Backrooms and as a strategic deterrent plan called the "Kinoi Plan."
Under the Kinoi Plan, Aurielle established friendly diplomatic relations with the M.E.G., soon engaging in trades. Ammunition and weapons were the main exports, which were used in the Bloodbath of Cluster 1. Disagreements over supplies and trade agreements led to increased tension between the two governments. Diplomatic relations were suspended with the MEG when they accused Aurielle of sabotaging equipment and violating trade agreements. Although no advancing statement was made, Auriellen trade significantly tanked. Additionally, suspected Auriellen involvement in the assassination of the Confederation of Level 154's duke due to his pro-Antlian sentiment soured relations between the two states. MEG also began an embargo on Aurielle.
With economic disparity imminent, the Aurielle government held a conference condemning and disproving the MEG's actions. Before the conference was held, the MEG decided to collaborate with Antlia and subsequently procured an offensive pact with them; the Confederation of Level 154 later joined the two groups. The three groups prepared for an incident that would provide grounds for a justification to declare war if coalition ultimatums were not met. During the conference, various ultimatums were given to Aurielle to end the embargo, all of which were denied.
Given the refusals, the Impresarios allowed for the AAC Incident to play out; two soldiers bearing the AGF emblem and uniform walked into the conference room and shot two MEG representatives; one Confederation of Level 154 and one A.E.A. representative were accidentally hit and later succumbed to their injuries. Guardsmen killed the two soldiers, and the conference came to an abrupt end. Three months after the incident, a company of MEG and Antlian troops attacked the Auriellen town of Navarro in Level 150. Thereafter, the Lustruger Crescen War began; officials quickly covered up the involvement of MEG troops until two weeks later when Antlian forces began retreating, and MEG, alongside the Confederation of Level 154, formally declared war. Aurielle fell in approximately one month due to the combined armies of the MEG and Confederation of Level 154.
Following the Lustruger Crescen War, Aurielle was divided into three occupation zones for the following ten years. The coalition occupation zones were extremely volatile, experiencing numerous insurgencies, rebellions, and resistance against occupant forces; Antlia-occupied Aurielle had the largest resistance and violence, which forced Antlia to give up full control over the area for joint Antlian-MEG control, as it became costly to upkeep. Meanwhile, remnants of the Aurielle government and military fled to the Backroom Colonists, seeking shelter in diplomatic and military-protected safehouses, and, following negotiations, formed a special administrative colony within the Backroom Colonists called the Special Administrative Colony of Geminia in 1991. Sebastian Solsti appointed Nurem Pacen, the former vice president of Aurielle, as president of Geminia; a lengthy period of mobilization began in preparation for a liberation of Aurielle, which occurred in 2000 with the Korthie Casiagen War.
UKOPCOM Secretary Ayden Morgan announced the coalition's surrender and withdrawal on March 22nd, 2019, after the wildly successful Caranda Offensive and nuclear infection detonation in Level 149. Antlia was conquered, and Aurielle captured Confederation of Level 154 and MEG territory. Reconstruction, which had been ongoing since 2012, was finalized in December of 2019. The immediate aftermath of the Korthie Casiagen War saw a shift in Auriellen culture. Due to camaraderie and cooperation throughout the war, individuals within the post-war Republic were more united than before. Grievances from the Vistokan Wars were generally dropped, and militarism, alongside Aurielo Patoichism, grew to be standard. Pro-war sentiment and interventionism exponentially increased from seeing the resounding victories of the Korthie Casiagen War alongside historical successes in military campaigns. The Volucris Strategic Economic and Security Accord was subsequently formed.
High levels of support by the Backroom Colonists during the Korthie Casiagen War and the Semon Plan revived the economy, which currently enjoys the Spring in Volucris.

In 2020, Arenet Matlon was sworn in as Aurielle's new president. He imposed the Illumina Doctrine, seeing Aurielle committed to actively pursuing both the containment and rollback of MEG's sphere of influence. Aurielle's peacekeeping mission and subsequent involvement in the Mordillan Civil War led to a wider period of intervention in various conflicts and peacekeeping, with its victory in the Cascadan Conflict fully solidifying itself as a great power.

The Republic of Aurielle is a federation whose government is representative, democratic, and federalist based on a presidential system according to the constitution. Aurielle is composed of three constitutionally established levels of government: the national government, the districtal governments, and the municipal governments. Smaller groups within Auriellen territory are semi-autonomous and self-governing, though still have to follow Auriellen laws and have to participate in voting.
Suffrage is universal for all citizens 18 years and older. National elections for the executive and legislative branches take place every five years.
Federal Government[]
The federal legislature is the bicameral Congress, composed of the lower Districtal Representatives of the Assembly (Presavos Distrumiet di dem Assembleu) and the upper Federal Senate (Senat Fiuderale). Congress makes federal law, declares war, imposes taxes, approves the national budget and international treaties, ratifies diplomatic appointments, and has the power of impeachment. The National Assembly is also elected by a system of parallel voting. The Districtal Representatives of the Assembly has 224 seats, elected by a mixed-member representation. The Federal Senate, which comprises 114 Senators. Of these 114, 92 are elected through a state-based representation through single transferable vote, while 22 are elected through a closed party list.
The legislature voting is based on "regions" where representatives and senators represent specific regions as to not complicate the voting process.
The executive is the President of the Republic of Aurielle, who is the head of state and government, as well as the commander-in-chief of the Auriellen Armed Forces. The President also appoints the Cabinet and other officers. The President is responsible for executing and enforcing the law and has the power to veto bills. They are voted through a two-round system.
The highest organ of the judicial branch of government is the Supreme Court of Justice, the national supreme court, which has 9 members that are appointed by the president with Senate approval. The Supreme Court of Justice interprets laws, overturns those they find unconstitutional, and judges cases of federal competency. Other institutions of the judiciary are the Auriellen Electoral Tribunal, the high collegiate, district courts, and tribunals, among others.
Administrative divisons[]
Administrative divisions of Aurielle are known as "districts," which function identically to provinces or states; they are further subdivided into municipalities and are governed by a governor; districts form part of political regions that are used for a variety of reasons, though mainly for legislative elections. Each level inhabited by Aurielle is organized into its own district, except for Level 339 and any arid, or desert level, inhabited by the Republic, which have three distinct districts and one large one respectively.[4]
Larger districts have independent councils, while smaller ones fall under the jurisdiction of the councils of larger districts in their same region. There is no minimum settlement count to constitute a district.
Administrative states[]
In the end of the Korthie Casiagen War, the boundaries of the Republic extended past their pre-war borders, with the occupation of Antlia, MEG, and the Confederation of Level 154 territories. Auriellen forces stationed in these lands witnessed sectarian violence against them, thus leading to the passing of the Terretatem Redorganisio Enacta[5] to appease the locals. Under the act, two independent puppet states were formed, being the Autonomous Administrative Republic of Antlia (AARA) and the Administrative Republic of Sirilis (ARS).
Both the AARA and ARS are states constitutionally bound to Aurielle that have both adopted a policy of collaboration and are economically and militarily integrated with the Republic, possessing similar equipment and calibers alongside utilizing their versions of the Auriellen Nolic. Being part of the closest circle in the Volucris Strategic Economic and Security Accord, Volucris Strateque Oeconemicus et Securitate Acordus, they must abide by a mutual defense-offensive pact that states that they must too declare war on the invaded or invading group unless stated otherwise.
The first administrative state was Rama Saom, which was formed to maintain the initially research-oriented ideals of Aurielle, though its classification as such has been disputed as it is rather classified as a sub-group.
Clients and Volucris Strategic Economic and Security Accord[]
The Volucris Strategic Economic and Security Accord (Volucris Strateque Oeconemicus et Securitate Acordus) (VSESA, colloquial; VESA; VSOSA in Aurielleno) is an intergovernmental political, economic, and international defense alliance composed of several dozen member states. Under influence, dominated, and often seen as an organization denoting the boundaries of the Auriellen sphere of influence, it was established after the Korthie Casiagen War to balance the power or counterweight MEG's influence. The organization has significantly expanded in member count following recent Auriellen interventions in many states.
The organization consists of four chambers, colloquially named the outer circle, central circle, central-inner circle, and inner circle. The VSESA Unified Economic Circle (VSESA—UEC), or the outer circle, is the economic chamber of the organization aimed to maintain common policies on trade, agriculture, fisheries, and regional development; solve economic or trade conflicts; and share a common currency: the Nolic. The VSESA Common Political Chamber (VSESA—CPC), or the central circle, establishes a common policy in external relations, with permanent diplomatic missions throughout the Backrooms. The VSESA Mutual Defense Treaty (VSESA—MDT), or the central-inner circle, is the collective security chamber of the VSESA, its independent member states agree to defend each other against attacks by third parties. The VSESA Military Response Contingent (VSESA—MRC), or the inner circle, is only composed of Aurielle, Sirilis, and Antlia; composing members states agree to participate in conflicts regardless of if it's defensive or offensive.
Among the most notable members of the VSESA are the Republic of Aurielle, the Duchy of Cascada, the Republic of Mordillo, and Telaso. All composing members of the VSESA are considered Auriellen client states, which critics have compared the system to neo-imperialism.
Political principles of importance[]
The Auriellen Constitution is built on the following principles:
- Aurielo Patoichism
- Federalism
- Patriotism
- Militarism
- Liberalism
- Modernization
- Aurielo Patoichism
Most mainstream political parties are alternatively built either on the following principles:
- Federalism
- Aurielo Patoichism
- Conservatism
- Liberalism
Imperialism and expansionism have also seen their influence in Auriellen politics.

Elections[]
Elections in Aurielle are held for several functions of the government: presidential elections (national), parliamentary elections (national), district governors (local), municipal mayor (local), districtal council members (local).
Financing[]
Political parties can use donations, dues, membership fees, and other grassroots funding; plutocratic funding is also relatively common. Political parties that have participated in elections also receive funding from the Administration of Taxation and State Revenue (ATSR), typically receiving 0.02% of the general budget revenues anually.[6]
Political parties may receive aid or donations from foreign groups, albeit with strict restrictions, such as transactions having to abide by a limit of 65,000 Auriellen Nolics and transactions being limited to allies of Aurielle. Parties have also been reportedly quietly funded by domestic corporations, which has led to incidents of attempted meddling of Auriellen politics by groups such as the M.E.G. through the usage of decoy enterprises and corporate entities that fund favorable parties. The ASCIC has cracked down on these shadow companies, though it has taken no initiative to stop corporate funding.
Military[]
![]() |
The military history of Aurielle chronicles a vast time period, lasting from the military conflicts against The Raiders, the fight against the Saggitani, the Vistokan Wars, the Korthie Casiagen War, the Mordillan Civil War, the Cascadan Conflict, and other ensuing conflicts.
The Auriellen Armed Forces (Aurielleno: Corsius Armata Aurielleno) (AAF) are the military forces of the Republic of Aurielle and are collectively formed of four branches: the Auriellen Ground Forces (AGF), the General Aerial Operations Command (GAOC), the Auriellen Maritime and Coastal Operations Force (AMCOF), and the Auriellen Security Council Special Forces (ASCSF), alongside two arms of services: the Auriellen Territorial Guard and Defense Force (ATGDF) and the Auriellen Marine Corps (AMC). It employs a professional, all-volunteer military system in which anyone 15 and above can enlist. Due to Aurielle's cultural militarism, enlisting is among the most common employment options. Each military branch has a specific role and domain. The AGF conducts land operations; GAOC conducts air operations; ASCSF conducts special operations; AMCOF conducts maritime and littoral operations; AMC specializes in amphibious and maritime littoral operations primarily for supporting AMCOF; and ATGDF specializes in domestic operations, border guarding, and settlement defense and also serves as Aurielle's main law enforcement agency and gendarmerie force.
The president of Aurielle is the commander-in-chief of the Auriellen Armed Forces and appoints its leaders, the Minister of the Federal Assembly of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and ostensible chief commanders of specific branches and arms of services. The Federal Assembly of Defense (FAD) administers the AGF, GAOC, AMCOF, and ATGDF. The ASCSF is administered by the Auriellen Security Council. The president also forms military policy alongside FAD.
Since the passing of the Uneas et Pacen Laupe Enacta[7] in 2020, alongside the implementation of the Illumina Doctrine, Aurielle has played an active and significant role in peacekeeping operations and interventions throughout the Backrooms, though peacekeeping done by the AAR dates back to 2015-2016 with the Ruphis-Ncipetheraz War. The Auriellen Armed Forces, and in turn, military policy, doctrinally operate under an Aurielle-centric deviation of the just war theory, which is used to proportionally justify the Republic's military actions. Alongside this, during conflicts, the Auriellen Armed Forces generally attempt to maintain the infrastructure and win the hearts and minds of locals, both to provide the populace with favorable views on them and stop potential insurgencies and to ease postwar reconstruction and integration as an Auriellen client state.
The AAR manages the largest defense budget, and it is considered to have the strongest military within the Backrooms. The Armed Forces has significant capabilities in both defense and power projection due to its large budget, resulting in advanced and powerful technologies that enable widespread deployment of the force around the Backrooms. Additionally, Aurielle persistently modernizes its armed forces, with federal reviews being common, and it often pioneers the advent of newer ideals, notably, the deployment of drones, vehicles like the C24N Seborna, and the domestication of entities for non-combat and combat roles, as seen by Corasil Sinos Arma and Legoms Iagaselos. Any shortcomings in equipment are addressed under the Urgent Necessary Operational Military Requirements (UNOMR).
Economy[]
Aurielle maintains an advanced mixed economy that is among the largest in terms of nominal GDP (81,386,667 ₦; 48,832,000 USD) and has a GDP per capita of 4,973.33 ₦ (2,984 USD). As an advanced economy, it performs well in healthcare and education, though the group's dispersed nature undermines it. Aurielle's economy has exponentially grown after the Korthie Casiagen War, in an event often denominated the Spring in Volucris.
The meat and agricultural sectors have been exceptionally competitive markets in Aurielle. Aurielle is the largest exporter of animal meat in the Backrooms and among the largest in agricultural products such as wheat, tomatoes, lettuces, and other products; Lijus is the group's agricultural hub. The Republic has been characterized by a mix of small and medium-sized enterprises and large multinational corporations in its economy, allowing for the production of both the niche market sector and the general market sector; Volucris serves as Aurielle's largest financial center.
The electronics and manufacturing industries are enormous in Aurielle, especially in arms manufacturing. Despite this, it has faced hardships and accusations, especially of lobbying. Foreign enterprises have been reluctant to enter the Auriellen market due to said issues, though it has not stopped the entrances of large corporate entities into the Republic. Prospero is Aurielle's industrial hub. Mining has also been a popular activity within Aurielle.
Aurielle is a member of various intergovernmental economic forums, among the most prominent being the VSESA Unified Economic Circle and the GG7. Antlia, Sirilis, Cascada, Backroom Colonists, the State Of Nautica, Mordillo, and Telaso represent Aurielle's largest trading partners. They have several free trade agreements with other groups. Oil, weapons, and minerals are among Aurielle's largest exports, with the Canis District representing a large amount of different minerals, though it is most known for possessing the group's largest oil and gas reservoir. Other large exports that contribute to the Auriellen economic scene are fur, drone parts, Mixologist's Delight, and medical products. Tourism has seen a rapid increase since the end of the Korthie Casiagen War, with it also bringing about an additional increase in transportation.
The national currency of Aurielle is the Nolic, which is listed among the Backroom's most used currencies due to its implementation in nearly every Auriellen client state. The exchange rate of the Auriellen Nolic (₦) is estimated to be 1 ₦ per 0.6 USD.
The average income tax rate is 20%, and it is 45% for the wealthy. There are no loopholes that allow the wealthy to circumvent taxation. Additionally, each district has the ability to set its own minimum wages, though by law they must be at or above ₦ 10.50, according to the Minimum Wage Increasement Act of 1982, launched to increase productivity; the unemployment rate remains low, with an estimated 1.2%.
Hydrocarbon industry[]
The hydrocarbon industry has been considered a dominating sector in Aurielle's economic output since its formation, primarily attributed to its oil-intensive combined warfare doctrines. Aurielle possesses one of the highest oil reserves in the Backrooms, of which 87% of its deposits come from the Canis District, followed by the Circinian District and the Fabriero District.
In 2013, the Auriellen administration under Nurem Pacen voted to nationalize its oil industry outright, effective 1 January 2016, with INO Pretos taking over and presiding over a number of holding companies; in subsequent years, Aurielle built a vast network of refining and marketing systems in Falejef and Bricomo.
Mining industry[]
A vast and thriving mining industry operates within the Republic, being forefronted by the Comiesteus Recdat, Corpus Atlas, and the RDA Natasawa. The beginning of the Caranda Offensive generated corporate and investment trust for the Republic, leading to the exponential growth of investors and foreign mining corporations operating within Auriellen land. There are currently an estimated 100+ mining licenses issued to foreign operators; operations are regulated and overseen by a concession system.
There also exists a specific niche within the mining industry primarily practiced in Level 15 that consists of mining the walls for the acquisition of their composite materials; their creation is linked to the production of military vehicles and machinery. Thus, the mineral production is largely endowed with coal, copper, iron ore, lead, composite materials, and gold and is concentrated on Level 166, Level 339, and cave levels whose environments allow for large-scale mining operations.
Agriculture[]
According to the last agricultural census, there were 34,000 farms in 2018, a vast majority of which are located in the Cepheus, Lupus, and Hydra Districts in Level 339. Of the total surface area in agricultural use (forestry excluded), grain fields take up 31%, vineyards 8.4%, apple orchards 5.2%, horticulture 2.8%, cherry orchards 1.7%, and the remainder is dedicated to other forms of orchards, pasture, and feed grains. Separate districts produce peculiar food products; Cepheus produces primarily maize corn, rice, grapes, meat, fruits, and dairy products, while Lupus specializes in wheat, citrus and apricot fruits, and lettuce.
Aurielle is one of the leading producers of jam, fruits, and vegetables. Jam is one of Aurielle's most popular and sought-after agricultural products, the most popular of which are the Kaisamnosea Kemono and the Palescia Rozzo. The Auriellen agricultural sphere is one of the nation's most important aspects, contributing to its international image and influence.
Culture[]
![]() |
Auriellen culture is sourced from a wide variety of ethnic groups that integrate their values and traditions, thus by definition making Aurielle a melting pot. In spite of this, Aurielle universally maintains and is built around respect, wellness, competitiveness, equality, and charity; additional, specific ideals vary depending on region. Nonetheless, there exists a universal emphasis among the nation—that of unity, patriotism, and militarism. Regardless of district, newcomers are usually greeted and invited over for a cup of tea or other sort of drink,[8] and on special occasions, gifts. Despite the language barriers and cultural differences, Auriellens maintain a sense of unity among themselves and seek to express their diversity and culture to new citizens of the Republic.
Competitiveness, militarism, and patriotism have had deep-rooted essence in Auriellen culture, with their inception stemming from Persa Uisan times, with the latter having been popularized during post-Korthie Casiagen War Aurielle. Auriellen philosophy and many Auriellens believe that "one should always strive to be the best in any activity or competition; however, even if one beats someone else, they should be treated equally and not inferior to another." Military parades, statues of heroes, acts of bravery during wartime, and serving in the armed forces are core fundamentals of the culture and are often celebrated.
Aurielle integrates aspects of the Backrooms into their culture, with general perception of the Backrooms as a means for expansion beyond The Frontrooms, alongside the consensus being that humans should have hegemony over the Backrooms. Humanoid entities that are non-hostile are accepted and integrated into Aurielle, as demonstrated by Cascadan-Auriellen relations and collaborations; however, segregation towards them remains varied.
Aurielle's varied cuisine is influenced by the Backroom's diverse fauna and flora as well as cultural traditions of ethnic groups and assimilation of other cultures, mainly of Latin American, Mediterranean, and Greek descent. Often involving and generally based around meats, wheat-based foods such as bread, fruits, and vegetables.
Having been historically influenced by the military, plenty of foods are meant to be easily portable and can be eaten on the go. Representative foods of Aurielle include the arepa, usually stuffed with shredded filling, sauce, and sometimes vegetables, eaten by Persan soldiers though later popularized; the caseum sandwich, a combination between a hunter sandwich and a burger; and the Aitor Bedalum, a sort of cookie filled with sweet fillings and then covered in flour, baking powder, salt, milk, eggs, and oil, then deep-fried, and then covered in cinnamon.
Demographics[]
According to government censuses, Aurielle's population is estimated at 65,554. Sizable portions of the population live in the capital, Volucris, and the nation's largest cities. 70% of the population is native to Aurielle. 23% of the populace consists of wanderers with no previous background in any other groups, 0.8% consists of Antlians, 0.7% consist of Sirilians, 0.5% consist of former Backroom Colonists members, 0.4% consist of former NAXOS members, 0.3% consist of former BWO members, and the remaining percentage consists of various other groups. The nation has a relatively high fertility rate; in 2020, it stood at around 4.3 per woman.
Aurielle stands out in its percentage of wanderers with no previous background; that stems from the Janus Enacta[9]. The Janus Enacta, which lawmakers passed during 1981, states that wanderers who are not affiliated with any group, are not tourists, and have clean records can acquire instantaneous citizenship once they interact with or pass by an Auriellen settlement, followed by a process of integration into Auriellen culture and sphere. Thus, making its population among the most diverse.
Aurielle's population is relatively young: The average age is 18.7 years. Additionally, the nation's population growth is quite high, mainly attributed to its high fertility rate, the Janus Enacta, and immigration.
Foreign Relations[]
M.E.G.[]
Aurielle harbors paramount hatred towards the MEG due to the Korthie Casiagen War. Tensions both culturally and politically remain high even if no official war has occurred since then. People with past relations to MEG that have become Auriellen citizens may experience some levels of segregation, though Auriellens nevertheless deem them acceptable as they left the them in turn for the Republic.
Backroom Colonists[]
Due to continuous support from part of the Backroom Colonists, both groups have strong positive relations with them, and they often do mutually beneficiary activities with each other.
Auriellens greatly appreciate the support of the Backroom Colonists during the Korthie Casiagen War, which included packages of food, supplies, and raw materials, and allowed them to form and incorporate Geminia post-war. Auriellen towns and cities often give gifts to coming Backroom Colonist members on missions for their service.
The Anti-Entity Group[]
Diplomatic relations between the AEG and Aurielle began when Leo Minori contracted the Anti-Entity Agency to clear an area where a base was planned to be constructed, with the Jahunas Contract. The historiography of AEG—Aurielle relations prior to the 2000s is considered relatively underdeveloped, with the first in-depth academic studies being published in the 2010s after various important developments between the two occurred during the Korthie Casiagen War. Today, diplomatic relations are complicated and have ongoing disagreements, but both groups see each other as strategic partners because of Auriellen political and military support after the Cascadan Conflict, their similar belief of human hegemony, and the relationship that followed.
During the Korthie Casiagen War, the AEG sporadically supported Aurielle in spite of distrust due to the AAC Incident that left an AEA representative dead; the 2016 Satam Disaster is considered the most substantial case of AEG involvement in the war, which served to improve relations. Post-Korthie Casiagen War relations were generally warm, with both groups working together to address entity issues, especially after The Flicker. Aurielle-AEG relations became significantly strained due to the Cascadan War and the subsequent Auriellen military intervention in the conflict and the official denomination of Corasil Sinos Arma as a national symbol of Aurielle.
Following the signing of the Daveron Agreement, A-5 sough to improve relations with Aurielle. The two groups worked closely during the Cascadan Emergency and numerous other actions and operations. Aurielle provides the AEG with training, aid, and intelligence.
Backrooms Investigation Foundation[]
The Backrooms Investigation Foundation and Aurielle are strong, loyal allies. Both groups commonly back each other up, with Aurielle seeking their assistance in various peacekeeping operations in return for supplies and support. This, along with the fact that the B.I.F. provided intelligence and support to Aurielle during the Korthie Casiagen War, has led to positive terms between the two.
Kauer Research Organization[]
Kauer and Auriellen relations are neutral; Rama Saom does engage in collaborations, but aside from that, relations are neither good nor bad.
N.A.X.O.S.[]
Aurielle sees N.A.X.O.S. as a "fellow brother of democracy" due to their democratic system of electing an Explorer in Chief that they've had since 1988. Aurielle has funded and supported N.A.X.O.S. expeditions, mainly for levels that they plan to conquest or settle.
The System[]
The System and Aurielle share close ties due to their militaristic society, often trading and carrying out joint military ventures.
Ncipetheraz[]
Ncipetherazi-Auriellen relations are quite unclear. This is due to the fact that the Ncipetherazi government utilises and publicises group relations with the Sylvainist Relations Model, as opposed to the traditional relations model that's composed of allies and enemies that you see used by Aurielle and most other groups.
With the traditional model, Auriellen and Ncipetherazi relations are neutral, and despite their polarizing beliefs—both culturally and ideologically—they somewhat frequently engage in trade and some form of cordialship, with both Ncipetherazi and Auriellen citizens being quite acceptive of eachother.
With the Sylvainist Relations Model—that only serves to count similarity in beliefs, as well as general populace consensus and many other factors—Aurielle is classified as "Against" due to the aforementioned polar-opposite beliefs. This is mostly because of Aurielles emphasis on cultural militarism and it's peacekeeping operations; 2 things that Ncipetheraz heavily disagrees with.
Backrooms Association of the Red Cross[]
The Republic of Aurielle maintains positive ties with the Backrooms Red Cross. Aurielle is part of the Red Cross' International Safety and Medical Committee (ISMC).
Aurielle boasts the ISMC's headquarters, which includes the usual meeting place of the Humanitarian Assembly in Volucris. The Republic of Aurielle is the third-largest provider of financial contributions to Red Cross missions. The nation and organization have a bilateral agreement that provides the Auriellen military the responsibility of protecting Red Cross facilities in exchange for healthcare and military and local medical/humanitarian assistance.
The main inspiration for Aurielle-Red Cross relations mainly rose during the aftermath of the Vistokan Wars, where the Red Cross took on a role of assisting initial Auriellen reconstruction efforts, especially those in LSA states. Complications arose during the Antlian riots and later on during the Antlian Revolution; however, the Red Cross led to the Lamsesjo ceasefire to evacuate civilians. Another step for contemporary Red Cross-Auriellen relations was during the Korthie Casiagen War, where the Red Cross was among the most pivotal organizations in the negotiation of ceasefires, evacuation of civilians, reconstruction of Aurielle, and mitigation of general suffering caused by the war.
Duchy of Cascada[]
The Duchy of Cascada and Republic of Aurielle enjoy close allyship, which began back all the way in Persa Uisan times. In 1926, a Persan expeditionary team discovered Level 107 and established a connection with one of the several local groups called Xiangzhou. Following initial contact, with fears of sanctions or interventions from emerging powers due to Persa's expansion, head figures in the fields of exploration led domestic movements that advocated for the opening of formal relations with the natives. Throughout the years, the groups maintained quiet, though relatively cordial, relations.
Xiangzhou maintained utmost neutrality during the various conflicts, though it engaged in friendly relations with emergent groups, such as Leo Minori, the Istauran Federation, and Arisa. With the foundation of Aurielle in 1975, Xiangzhou entered into a military alliance with the Republic, from which it would help establish the Duchy of Cascada, subsequently becoming the first client state for Aurielle under Sebastian's administration; coinciding with it came a purchase of Dem Edificeo for Rama Saom.
During the Korthie Casiagen War, Cascada supported Aurielle by supplying Auriellen forces with necessary materials such as weaponry and volunteers, a practice that would continue onwards. Postwar, the Republic awarded Cascada the status of "Eagle's Remige" and provided large economic and military compensations for their unwavering support throughout the Republic's history. In 2020, the onset of the Cascadan Conflict prompted Aurielle to begin small-scale interventions, preceding a full intervention following I.R.I.S attacks.
Cascada is currently one of the most pro-Auriellen groups, with 83% of Cascadans viewing Aurielle favorably, according to Backroom Colonists surveys, and 88% saying they trust Aurielle. 90% of Cascadans named Aurielle as their closest ally; meanwhile, 79% of Auriellens have favorable views on Cascada. Politically, Aurielle and Cascada have had firm and active political, economic, and military relationships. Auriellen government officials generally consider Cascada to be one of its closest allies and partners.
Ruphis Proletarium[]
Relations with the Ruphis Proletariums are severely strained due to the Proletarium's autocratic rule over its population and its exploitation of wanderers. During the Ruphis-Ncipetherazi War, Aurielle intervened under its own volition as its own side; however, Auriellen peacekeepers maintained close contact with Ncipetherazi forces, leading the Proletarium to label the Republic as a "sponsor of colonial aggression." The Proletarium also avoids mentioning Aurielle in its history books in fear of bolstering revolutionary sentiment among its citizens and youth.
Alleged Auriellen raids on Ruphisian forts to free Proles or citizens have further worsened relations. According to domestic polls and surveys, 62% of Auriellen citizens view an invasion for the deposition of the Sightseer as favorable.
Confederation of Level 154[]
The Confederation of Level 154 is aggressive towards Aurielle due to the Korthie Casiagen War and alleged Auriellen involvement in the assassination of their Duke. Relations have improved since the Korthie Casiagen War, though they are still mostly hostile.
Emporium of Agoreas/Agorean Mafia[]
Legal relations between the Agorean Mafia and the Republic of Aurielle are complicated to state at the very least due to the fact Agoreas isn't a state by any means, though it is on the list due to its large sphere of influence and drug-empire. Their relations are terrible due to Agorean Militias commonly looting and extorting lone Auriellen soldiers for their own personal benefit. Many Agorean businesses have had a history of attempting to smuggle illicit substances within Auriellen borders exploiting the high de minimis threshold Aurielle institutes. This has led to some Auriellen outposts in levels far from home infiltrated from the inside and turned into another one of the mafias infamous Agoras and drug synthesis sights.
There exists those who buy Agorean drugs such as Almond Nitrous Oxide and Broton to name a couple from illicit vendors and end up spreading them within Auriellen society. People involved in the importation of Agorean drugs can range from simple civilians desiring them for recreational use, to even outpost overseers facing material constraints that unknowingly import illicit drugs under disguise of regular supply shipments from the Backrooms Colonists.
Agoreas is designated a nationwide threat to Aurielle's domestic institutions, society, and the security of their borders. Counter-terrorism operations have been proposed to the Auriellen Security Council that yet to be authorized due to the sheer complexity of the Agorean system functioning without a central authority, making it hard to fully cleanse every one of its pockets. Even if Agoreas was to be dismantled, the fragments left behind would only create more gangs and fuel anti Auriellen sentiment, which causes a rally around the flag effect, leading Aurielle right back to square one.
Antlia[]
Antlia-Auriellen relations have been complex throughout the years, though they have significantly improved since the establishment of the Administrative Autonomous Republic of Antlia in 2019. The Saggitani Revolution, one of the first major events between the Auriellen and Antlian governments, laid the groundwork for future conflicts and served as a major focal point in Sebastian Solti's anti-Antlian campaigns. Relations further worsened during the latter part of the Vistokan Wars, with the joining of Antlia into the LSA and the indiscriminate bombings committed by Sidus against Antlia and Libra.
After the Vistokan Wars, tensions between them and the rest of the Republic continued to rise, excluding the region from post-war reconstruction efforts. The government attempted to negotiate settlements between the Antlians and Auriellens, but all attempts failed, subsequently causing the Antlian Revolution. The revolution resulted in the election of Sebastian Solti, who imposed various anti-Antlian laws that became the set piece for the Netter Linsho War.
Antlian alignment and collaboration with MEG resulted in its acquisition of large amounts of Auriellen lands following the Lustruger Crescen War. The Open Land Policy, a policy that allowed the abrupt search of settlements within occupied Aurielle, caused several incidents and violent confrontations between local populations and occupants. The outbreak of the Korthie Casiagen War caused a surge of concentrated violence within Auriellen areas that Antlia occupied, which predated the widespread insurgency against the coalition. Throughout the conflict, local groups constantly resisted Antlia, causing it to be among the first powers to lose its holdings, and be the only one in the coalition to succumb to total annexation by the Auriellens.
After the war, the Auriellen congress passed the Terretatem Redorganisio Enacta, which mandated the creation of the Autonomous Administrative Republic of Antlia alongside the Administrative Republic of Sirilis. Particular prominence in the act pertained to Antlia, as many congressmen favored an agreement and alliance with the Antlians to stop further conflict, rather than occupation by fearmongering. Relations have since stabilized, with Auriellen presidents regularly touring Antlia and the average citizen of Antlia thinking neutrally or positively about the Republic.
