Description

Screechers are an extremely fast and stupid entity, which has long limbs, and a humongous mouth, which is always open. They are hostile to everything that dares to cross it's path, and will obviously defend themselves when attacked. Screechers will bite the head off of anything it is hostile to. The bite victim will then die, being reanimated an hour later as a Decapitated Screecher. The only way to kill a Screecher is decapitating it, which will turn it into a Decapitated Screecher after around an hour. Screechers also will screech when near a potential victim, which is where they got their name. Prolonged exposure to this screech deafen the victim. Recently, Screechers have been sighted caring for others of their own kind, including their decapitated variants.

Decapitated Screecher

Decapitated Screechers are a slow and mindless entity, which has a huge vertical cut on the front of it's torso. This entity will spew out a bodily liquid of said opening, which will burn any flesh that touches it. The huge cut on it’s front is used to consume people. When doing this, they will convert their flesh into more of the bodily liquid. The aforementioned bodily liquid seems to be a kind of stomach acid, and can also be obtained from other Decapitated Screechers who have been killed. If a Decapitated Screecher runs dry of the liquid, they will die. It is fine to eat their meat as long as all liquid inside the meat is discarded and the corpse is thoroughly fried. This process is not required if the Decapitated Screecher dies due to lack of bodily liquid. Unlike their counterparts, they do not create a screeching noise. Decapitated Screechers are formed when either a Screecher is decapitated, or when a human is decapitated by a regular Screecher.

Rotting Screecher

The Rotting Screecher is a variant similar to the Decapitated Screecher. It lacks legs and instead crawls around using it's arms. Unlike it's other variants, it possesses moderate intelligence and will be able to track down a target that isn't directly in front of them. The screeching noise is faint when coming from these Entities, and will not deafen the victim. On rare occasions, Rotten Screechers have been shown unintentionally giving directions and other information to Wanderers, which suggests that they aren't incredibly smart and can be fooled essentially.

Do's and Don'ts:

Do's:

Run from Decapitated & Rotten Screechers. Unless you're a glutton, they will not be able to catch up to you.

Try to get a large object between you and a Screecher. This does not apply to Rotten Screechers.

Don't:

Run from (regular) Screechers. They will easily outrun you,

Try to sneak around Screechers.

Let yourself get into a situation where 2 or more Screechers are present.

Locations

Screechers can rarely be encountered in any of the following Levels.

Level 0

Level 1

Level 2

Level 3

Level 6

Level !

Level 213

Screechers seem to be more present in Level 0.

Only Rotten Screechers have been spotted in Level 2.

Level 3 is the only place where Decapitated Screechers have been sighted without a nearby Screecher. This could suggest that Decapitated Screechers can be present naturally in this level.
